really, really cool
" thunder was one of the first hero factory models i bought, along with Rotor. from the other reviews i have seen that he is not very good, but i hope that this one will change your mind. this model is really good. the mask is very cool. the claw on his right arm is really awesome. the three claws all come together well, and the ball for the meteor launcher fits snugly between them. this is definitely a really good set, despite the other reviews. wow. just wow.
" this is a brilliant lego model. it is one of the first hero factory models i have bought, and i purchased this along with Thunder. the build was not as easy as i thought. i am a very experienced model builder, and i can assemble most of the Bionicle sets in 2-3 minutes after purchase, but i think that this had a very good build experience for it's price. on the back of its legs there are those compressor bricks, which allow for a more sturdy placement of the model. i think that all sets should have those parts, since they make scenes much easier to make. the rotor at the top of the model really stands out, for a good reason. the blades are the same used as the tracks on one of the old/new bionicle models (the motorbike). i also like the fact that the rotor and the jetpacks are on the same section, so they move together. this makes the model a bit more realistic. i also like the thornax launcher which has been used in several themes now, obviously originating from Bionicle. i like the idea that this theme replaces the bionicle theme, and i hope that the models which lego make for this theme are testament to the great theme that was bionicle. the large armour plates which are on various places on the model. my cousin also bought the star wars hoth base when i bought this model and Thunder, so i had fun wrecking it with my models when he was away (dont worry, i rebuilt it afterwards XD). this model allows great playability, and i mainly bought this model for stop-motion animation, and it has been brilliant for that purpose. the mask for the character is also very cool, but i think that it could be a bit better. the fact that it is completely orange can make it quite hard at some times to distinguish the features of the mask. also, due to its positioning, it can sometimes interfere with the rotor. the part on Rotors right arm is very cool, and i think it is new, as i have not seen it before. the wires that run through his body give it a more mechanical effect. the stickers give it a cool effect, and i dont understand why people dont like stickers. i think that they give texture to the model, and extra detail. if you have been reading this all the way through, i thank you for taking your time to see how awesome this model is! Brilliant
" This is an absolutely fantastic model. It has many awesome features, such as all of those new-ish translucent hemispheres, and the hinges which allow the transformation I have never seen before. Inside the HQ in sub mode, there is a metal detector (but I think that it is just meant as an all-round scanner), a fish specimen, a coffee mug(!) and best of all: a swiveling chair!!! But to save space, I will now progress onto the pros and cons:
PROS:
Very clever and unique transformation
The little base which the HQ fits onto while in base mode
The cool manta ray minifig (his helmet is awesome)
The flick-fire missiles, which are not very good, but are good for display
The yellow key
The sweet mini-sub with the landing pad on the base
The fact that they have used the 2x2s with the curved surface for the first time that I know of in years!
The minifigures (both with helmets)
The 4 harpoon guns
The little crane inside the base
Several unique pieces
Really cool computer console and a scanner + a fish!
CONS:
When in sub mode, there is a large, unrealistic gap in the floor behind the cockpit section
For me, one of the little opaque helmet pieces (which were used in the Alpha Team series) is very loose, and when I put the folded-out sub on it it falls off, and the sub just collapses, but I have replaced that piece
You can't put the minifigures on the chairs in the sub with their scuba-helmets on, they just get jammed. But when you take them off, and they reveal the other side of the minifigs head which has the scared face
Not very many minifigures, this is their base after all...
I think that this is an absolutely brilliant model, and I recommend it to everyone. "

Alright...
" This is a vital part of the power functions set, though LEGO could have designed it a bit better. Being so big, it is hard to integrate into a model and keep the model's coolness. I have to recommend this to anyone with power functions, for obvious reasons, but otherwise it is useless. It is not aesthetically pleasing, but necessary.
It also does not have a very good system for accidentally leaving it on. It should have an automatic shut-down switch, because it drains batteries incredibly quickly. I use Duracell batteries, and they last for 2 months, tops.
I think that there should be another power junction on the box. I know that you can stack the power cords on top of each other, but it would look better to have another. This way the cords would reach further.
I am not fussed with the issue about the placing of batteries, for I can just use one of the cover plates to lever the batteries out.
One of the best things about this part is the amount of peg-holes. This makes it much more versatile in the way of positioning, despite it's shape and size.
I would make sure to get this with at least 2 motors, either type, and an IR receiver. "

Really great model!
" I got this model for my birthday a few weeks ago, and it is really cool (or hot, as the design environments are)! The legs are fully articulated and are durable. The silver tracks on the sides of the control center are a nice touch, as is the water tank on the back.
PROS:
The model itself
Great value for money
The legs are strong and easily positioned. Their positions also stay, no matter how long you wait, which is a great feature.
Claw is like the one on Lego Mindstorms Scorpion
Great detail on cockpit
Minifigure's extra armour
Lava monster
On the back of the legs there are Jet-Pack engines!
CONS:
Only one crystal
Only one minifigure
Water piece keeps falling off
Otherwise this is a really great buy!
BTW I found a way to properly lock the claws around the rock monster! What you do is:
Pick up the rock monster and put the claws around it
Hold it in position and get a small black connector (there are several spares in the box)
Place the connector in the hole in between the two other connectors which hold the claw to the mech (where there is the starting L-Piece and the 3-holed piece, in the middle of that)
The Lava monster should now be clamped within the claw's grasp!
I would definitely recommend this to a friend. I use it a lot, especially because I make Stop-Motion animations, and this keeps it's place for ages. This has a great value for money, and I would buy it straight away if I were you, if you haven't got it already (I pity you if that is the case). "

Really good model
" I really like this model. I love the auto-rotating drill.
PROS:
The automatically turning drill (I managed to rig up my power functions to it so now it goes really fast!)
The Firox rock monster
The abundant tools which are in it
The design
CONS:
The drill can get stuck occasionally, but that might be a problem with the build
Only one minifigure
Other than those, there are no cons! "

Great Model
" I really like this model. It is well built and well designed. Eruptorr is really cool (or hot!) and has loads of flames on his back. The smaller rock monster is also awesome with the newer design.
PROS:
design (very stable)
small vehicle
water bomb launcher (uses same system as bionicle
thornax)
drinks dispenser (one of the best, if not the best, aspects
of this model)
eruptorr
several crystals
CONS:
on the small vehicle the water launcher keeps pointing down
the claw has to be clamped shut continuously to hold eruptorr and the water launcher doesnt face the claws (which is quite the opposite to the first con)
otherwise this is a really good model! "

Great buy
" I got this lego model for my birthday, and it took longer to build than most models of that size take. pros and cons:
PROS:
backpack mounted drill is really cool
crystal king's fingers can grab lego figures
the pros far outweigh the cons, however many there may be.
CONS:
you have to lift up the figures arm to properly fit inside the king's fingers.
the figure with the drill is hard to balance without a baseplate
the size of the crystal king is not as high as i expected. the king is quite stubby, as it's legs are very short.
i would definitely recommend this to anyone "

Rock monsters on all sides!
" This is one of the best models I have ever bought. The best thing to do with it is buy it and build it (obviously), put it on a massive grey baseplate and put it with the crystal sweeper, thunder driller and claw digger, surround it with rock monsters (either big or small, maybe both, it doesn't matter) and then make an epic battle. If I could choose any Lego model to take on holiday or somewhere, it would be this one. Great job Lego, but try to tone down the price a bit. It undermines the buy quality a bit. But otherwise I would definitely recommend this model to anyone who even remotely likes Lego. "

Incredible
" I bought the Mindstorms set last year and I was gob-smacked by how incredibly useful it is around the house! So far I have used it as an automatic fish feeder, a robot that takes a picture whenever I clapped my hands (I forgot to send it in when the competition was on, though), a dumb waiter and all of the LEGO created models. I have spent days just playing with my Mindstorms set and programming it to do all sorts of things. At the moment I am trying to combine my Mindstorms with the LEGO Power Functions, to create the ultimate model: a remote controlled car with a spinning blade on the top! "
