Essential Masterpiece
" Probably the most innovative, most original design released in the Ideas range to date. Jason Allemann is a certifiable genius, and this model is right up there for its concise, clever construction, and playability.
It works beautifully, with the sensitivity and robustness needed for it to feel like a proper rendition of this classic toy, with so much inspirational quality, to possibly extend, adapt, and ideas to use elsewhere. And it is a good looking item of intrigue to show off in the home. It makes you just want to look more closely, start tweaking, and have a go.
The buid is great fun, and keeps closely to the original design submission, which is so good to see. And you get a decent batch of lego pieces here - no nonsense, but big, useful bricks and tiles in good colours. You get a ton of extra pieces for the 'B Model' which is unusual (in a good way). I'll be needing a couple more of these sets, if only for the parts to build a grander design on the same principle.
Check out the designer's other work - I'll certainly be clicking in my votes to get more made into commercially available sets.
