Does not deserve the amount if hate it gets
" I'm actually quite surprised at how much I enjoyed the building process. The technic was slightly confusing if you don't usually use technic, but if you pay attention throughout this build, you shouldn't have much trouble. I am a little bit disappointed by the gaps left in the top wedges that cover the interior. The figures are wonderful and a lot of detail was put into everything. One flaw with this detail is the annoying stickers for the grill details (six circles in the back) to be put on. I feel like those could have been an exception to be printed. The landing gear doesn't retract but it is perfectly fine. There is a landing ramp but it isn't quite large or tall enough to carry a figure, however it is nice to have. The coaxium containers are valuable and fun to mass. I'm glad it came with two. The set is extremely well done, however, my biggest issue is the large gap between every wedge panel. I also would have liked to get L3, but that might not be LEGO's fault. Overall, this set is wonderful. "

Overpriced for low quality
" I do not completely hate this set. I bought it for a reason. But there was a lot wrong with this. It looks nice, except for when flying because the wings are somewhat short and the landing gear does NOT retract, which is a huge downside to a set with great potential. There are also gaps that could have easily been modified out. The black part of the cockpit is not accurate and does not look good to me. It should have been white, or even dark bluish gray. The 2 x 4 wedge plate on the cockpit looks out of place, especially with the 1 x 2 brick modified with studs on 1 side being light bluish gray. Another coloration mess-up is the plate beneath the trans-blue
1 x 4 tile is azure while the other piece is white, so the thrust looks like it is two different colors.
Minus the looks, the features are okay, but I wish the minifugure selection was better. Obi-Wan and R2-D2 do NOT belong in this set. Obi-Wan is in a cheaper set from this year, and R2 came in several sets from this year. This ship was barely seen in the Original Trilogy but was prominent in Star Wars Rebels. R2 and Obi-Wan could have been replaced by updated versions of Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger, which we still need. OR even etter, they could have been replaced by two more Sandtroopers. We had enough room for more than two, but we didn't get more than two. That's ridiculous that it's a troop transport without enough figures, especially because the last version from back-in-the-day had enough figures.
Overall, this could have been better. I like it, but there was a lot that could have been changed. It is very overpriced for what you actually get. "

Excellent
" This set was a pretty easy, yet fun buid. The price per piece isn't too off, and I appreciate it a lot for that. The feature to spread the wings, while pretty much flawless, it still takes away from the look of it on display because of the large gap in the hull of the ship. It might be easy to cover that up, but it would still restrict the feature to open and close the wings freely. The designer(s) did their best to cover it, but the past X-Wing Starfighters didn't have this issue. Otherwise, the set if incredible, with the mismatched colors, retracting landing gear, shooting elements everywhere, and the minifigures with their new helmets (which I don't mind, but I wish they did include alternative hairpieces for them to switch out with if you didn't want them to wear their helmets). I reccomend this set to anyone who likes the X-Wing. (P.S. It goes great with the Solo: A Star Wars Story TIE Fighter that came out not too long ago.) "
