A lot of hate for a decent set
" Ketar is currently under the fire and is being called the "worst set of Bionicle Generation 2". this is due to many criteria such as; colour scheme, posability and a MOC like build (in a bad way). Personally i believe this set has been overlooked and after i had low expectations for the set from what i read, when i had built it up and tested it i found that it is actually one of my favourite sets! im going to look over some of the things that have been said about this set in this article
colour scheme:
im going to be honest here in saying that the colour scheme for Ketar is well.... pretty all over the place. to count all of the major colours (not even the minor colours) we have:
black
light grey
dark grey
silver
gunmetal
burnt orange
dark tan
trans-neon green
solid neon green
thats an astounding 9 colours compared to a toa set that usually has no more than 6 or 7. for a creature set, this many colours seems a bit rainbow like and isnt completely pleasant for the eye. luckily the colours are quite similar and they blend together when you're not focusing hard on the set.
Pose-ability and function:
this is where ketar gets the most hate. with arms that are connected to gears with no friction to a stinging tail that cannot reach past the back of his head, ketar has bad pose-ability at first glance. something many people may not have noticed is that you can actually lock ketar's tail into place without any extra pieces. by pushing the dark tan peice into the back of ketar it actually stops the arms from moving completely and you can now pose him at will (i have placed a picture for reference in the review). i think this makes him BETTER that the other creatures which have limited friction in their gears. ketar can swing his arms at the enemy without any resistance and then you can lock his arms into place when you're done. also by posing ketar in an attack position (like a real scorpion) you can make him sting things. unfortunately, neither of these things are shown or mentioned in the instruction booklet or on the box and leaves many people struggling. on another note at least ketar has pose-able legs unlike the last scorpion we had ( *cough* skull scorpio *cough* )
MOC like build:
okay this one is correct. Ketar has a questionable build that isnt very stable. his piece of unity is not secured to his body and wobbles around. while this is unoticeable on the set on its own, it is really annoying on his combiner with pohatu where he wobbles around on his back instead of staying in place, making posing quite difficult for this combiner. the rest of the set also, just looks like it was thrown together with pieces that were left over in the box of bionicle parts (the tail especially). personally i think it is kind of weird.
to sum up, critics are correct about the MOC build and colour scheme, they really are all over the place. what they are wrong about is the pose-ability and the function. these things are actually better on this set than any other creature. personally, it makes up for the flaws in the other 2 categories. it is unfortuante that these things are nt showcased int the instruction booklet as kids (and some adults) likely cannot figure these things out for themselves. Ketar has made itself one of my favourite sets so far
PS: also yeah the shadow trap is fun to use with ketar ( i wish we could get another with pohatu like the skull spiders last year) "

Spidermans suit
" I'll just start off by saying that i love the set and couldn't find any flaws with it. its great and i think it was designed amazingly
what i dont like is spiderman's suit. although i apperciate the new double moulded legs i still think that the torso piece should have the base colour of red. this was done well in the 2004 spiderman figure and the red boots where not needed to make up for the lack of the red colour. the new figure has it's torso based blue and gives spiderman a more pyjama feel then superhero costume feel. on spiderman red is the primary colour and blue is the secondary colour not the other way around. i know that i defiantly prefer the 2004 spiderman figure for this reason alone. if this small thing could be fixed with later spiderman figures i think that there would be nothing more to fix and the figure for spiderman would be perfect. Skull Scorpio
" By far the most disliked set of the wave by bionicle fans, scorpio doesnt have much going for him. His action feature barely reaches in front of him and cant really be used to attack the toa without leaning the set forward and placing the toa's legs in scorpio's face, just close enough for the tail to grab him/her. another thing is scorpio's immovable legs. it could have been an easy fix to add articulation in the legs and at the base of the legs but, for some reason, it was left out and ended up having worse articulation then The Lord of Skull Spiders (at least he had one point of articulation in each leg). The colours of trans yellow, red and silver clash alot although this could not of been fixed as he is ment to be the "stone" element skeleton of the wave which means he would need trans yellow. i know that the lego designers work hard and try their very best to create the best set possible for the consumers (us) and are under all sorts of constraints. Even so i still dislike the set as a whole and bought it simply to complete my collection and to be able to create the combiner model.
(also i have noticed that lego has replied to people saying that they can edit the set to their own likings. some of the things that i have pointed out could have been easy fixes and people would not have had to edit the figure if these things were changed) "

an awesome set
" this set was such a good set. it really did carry on the bionicle line and focused on making the fans of the old and the new happy. with great poseability and gears this set is a true wonder. one thing that i loved that lego has brought back is the double weapon feature (one for fighting and one for "adrenalin" mode). i thought that this was a great set and all people should look out for it in stores
what i didnt like was the pricing. in australia a small toa with only about 15-25 less peices than a large toa is $20. tahu, kopaka and onua are now $30. thats five dollars more than the american price difference and because of price inflation you add another $5. that means that you pay an extra 10 dollars for a larger toa and then add 5 dollars because of price inflation. here is a comparison:
USA: AUS:
protector: $10 $16
small toa: $15 $20
large toa: $20 $30
the extra $5 is already unnecessary in america let alone the extra ten dollars in australia. all for 15-25 more pieces.
other than that this is a great set and would still recommend it "
