"Whilst Lego make it really easy to buy online, with another corona lock-down starting, I decided to take a last opportunity to enjoy the Lego store in Berlin. Arriving for morning opening, I found a large queue (or what passes for a queue in Germany!), which is not unusual for days when new sets are available... but as everyone (safely, all wearing masks and using the disinfectant offered by staff) swopped in, they seemed to be grabbing everything but 123 Sesame Street! I am sure they and their family will equally enjoy the Saturn IV and Disney Castle, etc. but I am so happy to have grabbed the latest ideas set!
It was just a fun build. A big part of that obviously comes from the affection for Jim Henson's craft, and what the CTW have achieved with Sesame Street.
There is nothing especially challenging about the build, with some really nice parts usage and building techniques, and having the mini-figures come with each bag was a nice touch. The number of stickers seems disappointing but in terms of what they aim to achieve aesthetically, I can understand why they didn't use all printed parts, and the same goes with the characters they included.
It hits that sweet spot between display model, for adults, and play, for kids (and the young at heart), and any small issues over stickers or character inclusion, means that it also hits a nice price point, where you think "sure, why not" even if you're not a big-set buyer (normally I restrict myself to c. 100 EUR ).
If you want a set that'll just put a big smile on your face, rather than necessarily being super challenging or hard work, then this is it. It is a joy!"
