" I absolutely love this tiny notebook!
I've been enjoying the Lego Dots collection tremendously, and this is such a great way to carry around a little bit of creativity. It's a tiny little thing -- a few inches tall and wide, one deep -- but that just makes it that much easier to put in a pocket or bag.
The canvas area is 6x8 dots, which is a great deal of space for a "with Lego" product (not just a Lego kit).
It comes with a nice collection of Dots to get you started, and of course is compatible with Lego and Friends pieces for 3D creativity and fun. I wouldn't say no to carrying a cat or favourite minifig around with this.
One of my favourite things is that the notebook part of this is replaceable! I'm always sad when a notebook with a cool cover is filled, and let's face it -- this isn't going to hold a whole lot of notes! Of course, I don't know where to find itty bitty notebooks.
The hold is very strong, and I've not lost any pieces (yet), even though I've been awkwardly carrying a fire piece around to swap into my dragon's fire.
I love the freedom of the Dots line in ways I find it hard to express. I'm not artistic, don't think I am very creative, but I can spend hours making patterns or pictures with Dots tiles, or just rotating different pieces until something clicks and looks good.
I have two issues/suggestions with this product, both fairly minor. First, if you can see in the pictures, the ribbon that is the loop the keychain attaches to is fraying very quickly. It's going to be difficult to replace -- I may wind up punching a grommet into the spine. Second, I wish dearly that this came with one of the key-shaped tools from the Dots sets. I have one from the Panda cube I keep attached to this. A tool is pretty necessary for this piece, because the dots are so close together. You can get an almost-flat surface... but then you have to remove all the dots from the edge in if you want to change a piece. The tool lets you slip in and pry out any piece, making changes fast and easy.
Besides those, this is a great gift for any Lego fan and a fun introduction to the Dots line. Some people may not be too interested in bracelets or organizers, but there's room in anyone's life for a tiny notebook. "

Small but mighty!
" I had a lot of fun building this little loader! It was easy to put together with pieces chosen to be different colours for different lengths, which I appreciate! This is only my third Technic piece but the one I was most excited about. It's a simple design but that's part of the appeal -- clean lines, built solid, and the lift is really smartly designed. It does a whole lot with only a few pieces!
It definitely takes some coordination to pick things up with the scoop. It takes two hands because of where they're placed. I'm really impressed with how well it works and the range of motion on it. It could be altered to a forklift very easily. The scoop can hold a lot of items and weight without tipping down to drop them, likewise the loader is balanced so that wherever the scoop is positioned, it is firmly on all four tires.
It's a great size to go with Lego City vehicles! I've included pictures with the little bulldozer from the City line. Minifigs fit in the loader's seat :) This little guy is going to fit right in with my city trucks and construction site.
No stickers in this kit to worry about. "

Technic, you have a new follower
" Like many people, Lego has been a part of my life since I was a little kid. It had been a long time since I had built any, and the Technic line didn't exist when I was an active builder. I was a little intimidated by it! My first build honestly felt really difficult despite being a small kit, mostly because I didn't know the pieces and expected bricks XD.
This was my second Technic build, and I feel so much better about it now. It prompted a third (the skid loader which is really fun) and I'm now eyeballing the excavator, because I love construction equipment and big vehicles.
You don't get much bigger than monster trucks! Not in terms of personality and fun factor, at least. I grew up with Bigfoot and Grave Digger on TV and remember them fondly. My partner and I purchased a monster truck each, and we now race them on the sidewalk outside or in the hall of our apartment. The pull-back action on these is fantastic -- you don't get a short pull and then the clicking of it being fully wound. You can give it a really long pull, and the speed and distance it goes is truly impressive! It makes for easy stunts and lots of fun with obstacles like loosely stacked lego/wooden brick walls or sticks and rocks to roll over, and of course it's perfect for ramps. We usually hit the end of the hall before they stop. Honestly, our biggest concern on the sidewalk is losing one into traffic, as it's a really high traffic area and they could easily zoom right across the street, even with parking spots on both sides! We have a ball hockey net up to prevent tragic accidents.
I'd love to play with these with my nephew, but our city's been in lockdown for over a year now. We've sent him videos though. He says he doesn't like building the technic kits, but this one interests him, mostly for the finished product. (He's 10, started Lego at 5 or so).
My cat is terrified of it. Our dog REALLY wants to chase it and eat it. Since Lego doesn't come in Barium colour, we're not big on the idea.
I would actually recommend this kit over the smaller Technic kits! The price point is still good, it's not a long build (I put 2hrs as I listen to audio books while I build so am slower, plus I don't organize the pieces because ADHD brain says it's more fun to hunt for every single one, sigh), but a really satisfying one with a nice big monster truck to show for it. Displays really well on shelves, but thanks to the heavy fenders it also holds up to plenty of crashes into walls, other trucks, flips off ramps, cats, etc. I expect they'll get battered a bit, but they protect the rest of the truck.
I added tail lights for safety. "
