"I have loved all of the recent NASA sets: from the Saturn V, to the Lunar Lander, to the ISS... So as soon as this set was announced, I had to add it to my collection.
As I started the built process, I noticed several key bricks were missing. Honestly, that’s not much of a problem since I have a box of leftover bricks and pick-a-brick orders that I was able to go through and find substitutes for all the missing components. Worth mentioning though since the set was missing about 25 key parts including mechanical components for the flaps on the delta-wing.
My other complaint is that it would have been nice if minifigures were included, though I understand that the scale is incorrect. I just think it would be cool to display the set with minifigs servicing the HST.
All of that aside, I love this set. It’s probably the largest Lego set I’ve built, and I love that the HST and the Shuttle Discovery can be displayed either together, or as two separate items. That was a nice touch.
Honestly, my biggest problem with this set was figuring out how to display it. I debating displaying it with the HST in the cargo hold, but ultimately decided to display both separately along with my Washington DC sets. I figured that since the backup Hubble is on display in the National Air and Space Museum, and Discovery is on display at Udvar-Hazy, that was the right way for me to display this set.
