A new Technic King has arrived...
" It all begins with the neatly packed parts, which helps a lot when you begin building. The instructions are clear, but a great deal of attention must be brought- missing one step here will result in problems. But it's a fight, all the way until the finish- and just as you stop for air and say "that's all you got?" in comes and gives you another round. And when it's finished and you see this colossus move and spin and dig all around, you get a profound sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, which, in turn fuels your need to play with it even more.
But in all its complexity, this is a modest design. Powered by 4 M motors, it does all the things that a real excavator does, with ease. Everything is nicely tucked in and out of sight, such as all the cables and motors. Control-wise, it is easy to understand. Using a clever remote-operated clutch system, the user is able to switch between functions (digger arm controls and the actual movement of the excavator) which means you don't have to ever manually switch anything, apart from the battery switch. The battery, which is on top of the superstructure, can be easily removed for battery replacement.
All in all, a magnificent effort from Lego, one that will be remembered for many years to come. 8043's solid build, its playability and indeed realism earns its seat among the most legendary Technic sets ever made. "

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads...
" A good example of the good old Lego recipe: more is just better.
First, size. At 314 pieces it may sound it is rather small. However, when I built it, it really grew before my eyes; with those huge off-road tires in the back for proper traction, you know this buggy means business. And it's not basic either. It's got a clever independent front suspension, and even has suspension in the back for that full off-road experience. This buggy now comes equipped with a V4 engine instead of the usual V2 which was used in the previous buggy. Steering is made easy too, as it can be steered from inside the cockpit (if you can fit someone small enough to do it), or, my favorite, the knob at the back which enables for quick and precise steering. As for the final touch, for easy access to the cockpit, the whole front can lift open. Price? well, 60$ may sound a bit steep, but the play experience is profoundly rewarding, as it offers an array of special parts and build techniques which are invaluable to any Lego builder. For anyone who's dreaming on building an affordable off-road RC project, this is a perfect place to start. "

Pirates ye be warned...
" For a long time I've been waiting for a rival against my pirate ship (Brickbeard's Bounty)- and here it is at last, and what a worthy opponent indeed!
Let's start with the highlights. The ship is huuuge, at over 1,600 pieces, you get to see it grow bigger and bigger in front of your very eyes. The parts bags are nicely ordered, making it easier to find the pieces you need, without scavenging through hundreds of parts. Once completed (took me 6 hours non-stop) the attention to detail will certainly earn it's right to be among the highest quality of model ships. On the lower deck of the ship you will find the brig (jail), the cannon hall and at the rear of the ship, the kitchen- where you will find several foods, among those fish and chicken (you get a nice grill for the chicken, too).
The masts and pillars are attached to large plates that can easily detach from the rest of the ship, for easy access inside, which I thought is a nice touch- and don't worry about the masts ripping off, they are well built into the deck, so they won't break apart at all.
At the rear of the ship on the main deck is the captain's quarters, which boasts plenty of detail, among those things include a nice chest, a drawer, and a large organ piano.
The set includes 9 figurines: Princess (or Captain's daughter, whichever u like), Captain, 2 pirates, and 5 soldiers, giving you a wider variety of possible play scenarios like the pirate attempting to kidnap the lady and gets caught and get sent to the brig, that sort of thing. Or, if you want to start building a nice little army, this is a good start.
In contrast to the Brickbeard's Bounty set, the Imperial Flagship wins in price/piece ratio, playability and overall detail. This ship looks complete and solid, and will be an amazing display for anyone of any age.
On a last note, I'd say if you are Lego Pirates theme fan, this is by far a must have, as it is the ultimate ship. It's great for role-playing (if your little brother wants to beat you with his Pirate Bounty, you can show him who's boss) or, if you simply want to admire it's amazing detail, it does both quite well. Return of the X1!
" Years ago, Lego released a version of Vader's TIE Fighter Advanced, and sadly, many missed it. But, not to worry, it's now back, and far more detailed than it's predecessor.
You get 1 figurine, (Vader) with his lightsaber, which upon completion, you can hide the lightsaber underneath the ship. The ship itself has a very good level of detail, however, as some have observed, it is rather fragile. The most frustrating are the side wings, however, just by adding an extra stud (so 3 on each side not 2 to hold the wings). It's worked out nicely and it holds together much better now. Vader himself might be harder to fit in his cockpit, mainly due to the fact that his cape is made from a much stiffer material, and his helmet tends to come off easily as well. If you have an extra Vader from older sets lying around, I suggest use that one, it will fit in much better, without falling apart.
All in all, it's a great set, very detailed and accurate, and for 35$ CAD, I think it's a must-have classic set. "

Take her away, Commander...
" By many, especially me, this was a highly anticipated set, and now that it's here, here's my take on it.
Price? given the price/piece ratio it's not too bad, but going at around 150$ CAD a pop, it might get a little expensive. But aside with the technicalities.
The set is impressive in size, and anyone that will eventually have the pleasure of building it will certainly agree. And with it being originally designed with playability in mind, detail suffers a little bit, here and there...let's just say there will be some minor gaps in between, but despite that it still keeps up with it's thickness of detail. Once completed, you are given a variety of things to do with it, besides staring at it's beauty. You're given an escape pod, at the rear of the ship (perhaps if someone on board gets desperate), a knob on the side of the ship, which allows you to drop 5 bombs into enemy territory. And, my favorite, lift the side up and set out the gunner (which can go on the right/left side of the ship, you're given a sliding mechanism). At the front You also get to build Palpatine's quarters/throne room, and two personal guards with that as well. Last but not least, you're also given a smart and simple way to carry around your model with a nice handle which is integrated into the frame of the ship. The way it sort of blends with the rest of the model is quite impressive as well. However. I might add a point of caution if you will play with it continuously. The handle, as solidly built as it is into the frame of the ship, with continuous play the bricks start to break away from each other very slowly, which may cause a mess. I hope that never happens and that it is strong enough, but it's precautionary.
In conclusion, it is a great set, and if you're not going to use it for play it's an awesome, detailed model that can be displayed and adored just about anywhere by just about anyone.
ps-the word "Venator" is actually Latin for "hunter" ;) "

 LEGO Pirates - Brickbeard's Bounty
LEGO Pirates - Brickbeard's Bounty
Avast, me hearties! With firing cannons and a mermaid on the prow, the famous pirate ship Brickbeard's Bounty is sailing the Seven Seas in search of adventure and gold. Will the pirates make the Admiral's daughter walk the plank into shark-filled waters, or will the soldiers rescue her and capture the pirates' treasure? The action never stops with 3 pull-action cannons, removable captains quarters, walk the plank feature and more! Includes 4 pirates, 2 soldier's, Admiral's daughter, monkey, shark and mermaid! Ship measures 22" (56cm) long and over 17" (44cm) tall

The pirates are back!
" I personally missed the first lego pirate era, but I, like other lego pirate fans grow with excitement and high expectations for this new wave of lego pirate sets to come. First off, this is a good set, has an impressive scale, unlike it's predecessors. It also comes with a variety of stuff, such as a monkey, a parrot, and of course, plenty of plunder. Where it falls sort is it's price/piece balance. This set will cost as much as 130$ CAD and for that u only get 592 pieces, which is a bit dissapointing. The ship is well crafted, with a variety of interesting and new colors, so it is very beautiful to look at. But one cannot help but notice that the ship appears incomplete, such as the lack of a deck, a forecastle or an interior. Not to mention a lack of some obvious necessities such as cannons, and of course, pirates. In fact, there are more weapons to go around than there are lego pirate figurines. Oh, did I mention there is no brig?...For such a price, frankly, I'd expect more from lego, not less. However, if you wish to start up a fleet of lego pirate vessels, this is a good start. The set also includes 2 soldiers and a boat, and a lady in distress, which u may (or may not) rescue from them dirty pirates. So, in the end, it's a fun set, not fragile, easy to build, and comes with a variety of accessories. But again, the price is quite steep for a set that should of been fuller, with more lego figures, and more exciting features. "

Small, Yet powerful enough.
" First off, if you wish to just get a lot of power and torque out of your motor, this isn't the one for you. However. If you wish to apply a smaller, more precise motor to your creation, then this is it. And here's why. The XL motor is good for a lot of applications, but regarding steering, and/or gearboxes, it does no good, since the torque is so powerful, it will surely rip your model appart. I applied this motor to my 4 speed manual gearbox, and it worked so well, I had to keep it. It was not as powerful as the XL, but it did not rip the car appart, and, in 2nd 3rd and 4th gear the car can still pick up a lot of speed. On a final note, it is extremely easy to apply and to mount to your model, due to it's size, and at the same time it won't add as much weight as the XL motor. So, easy to use, practical, powerful, and not as bad as you'd think. "

Powerful, yet not very compact
" The motor was a great buy (I bought it to fit it on my lego technic fire truck) but when I got it I discovered the motor was bigger than expected- it does indeed have the power to pull, and push, but it's overall size is a bit big, which may make it difficult to attach to lego models. Overall, though, it is a good motor with enough power, (my lego truck has the motors for the crane, 2 recievers and battery box which make the model pretty heavy) and the XL motor moves it with little strain. If motion is on your mind, this is the motor for you. "

LEGO Shop: TECHNIC: Fire Truck (8289)
LEGO Shop: TECHNIC: Fire Truck (8289)
This authentic model is ready to fight any fire! Open the control panel on the side of the truck and use the 3 separate gears to operate the aerial lift with ultimate precision. Adjust the boom incline, angle and rotation -- the aerial lift raises to over 21" high and rotates a full 360 degrees! Working outriggers lower to stabilize the truck! Use the gear at the back to control the steering! Rebuild into an equally authentic light-duty rescue truck! Includes building instructions for 2 models.

Awsome Set
" This is a great set released by the Lego Group, took me 4 hours to build, and the result was truly rewarding. The crane is fully mobile- and as mentioned before- if u do have motors- use them- this is a great set for that, since u got plenty of space. The steering is not connected to the steering wheel, however, u can steer easier with the new control system at the back of the truck. Lack of an engine is a bit dissapointing, but the overall size and detail makes up for it. It can also be rebuilt into a tow truck, so the oppotunities aren't limited at all. A great set for kids and adults alike. "
