Trains have limited value without track options!
" I agree with all of the other posts here.
I have a pretty decent train collection with 3 powered trains (2 Emerald Nights and 1 Toy Story Train). Luckily in in 2009 and 2010 I bought a whole bunch of straights & curves packages (now discontinued) , 2 rail crossings (now discontinued), 4 switches & and 2 level crossings. I really need more straights, and I would like to buy a whole bunch of it.
I bought into the new power functions / plastic track train concept, but now I feel my options are getting as helpless as the die hard 9volt crowd!
+The #7895 rail crossing needs to be brought back.
+We need a cross track (similar to the # 4519 9volt cross track). A cross track could probably eliminate the need for the #7895 rail crossing, but we really really need one or the other to make figure 8 type layouts.
+And most important - Straights & Curves should be sold separately
It's hard to be a Lego train fan when one of the fundamental components of training (the track) has such limited options.
The trains are impressive sitting on the shelf, but my friends are really impressed when I have train track spread all over the house with powered trains running on them. ... Then I have to tell them about the limited track options available today.
In summary, the trains are cool, but to really get the WOW factor, they need to be on a cool track layout. ... And that cool track layout is getting very difficult to create with the current track options. "
