"I think I'll call him 'Ant'hony."
" Lego expand their Marvel sets with characters with this quick to build set from the latest installment, Ant-Man.
The model:
Basically, the main feature here is the flying ant. It's not a bad likeness of an ant, with a poseable neck, mandibles and wings. The abdomen also angles up and down as well. The eyes could've been done a little better but it's easily changeable.
It's a shame the designer didn't put the little control harness / saddle on it so it could represent Anthony, but again, not difficult to build that on yourself.
Apparently the first releases had issues with the legs and did not feature the 2x1 axle and 1x1 cone extensions but if you do get one of these, you can get the spare parts from Lego Services.
The Lego catapult is a fun feature and a nice way to scale up the brick to stand next to your characters. This is a play feature not in the movie, although there is a scene with yellow bricks in. The screw projectiles are a nice touch.
Figures:
There are 3 figures in this set.
Firstly we have Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man. It's a nice figure but not as close to the suit we see in the flashback scene in the film. However, you can never have enough Avengers characters so it was a must for me. Nice detailing on the suit and helmet and his face has printing on both sides.
Next we have Scott Lang's Ant-Man. This is a great little figure and the detailing on the suit is well done. The helmet is also nicely done with the clear red sections. Scott's face has printing on both sides as well.
Finally we have Darren Cross in the Yellowjacket armour. The figure's printing and the helmet are really well done, although the suit should be black in colour as opposed to dark grey. The armour pack is okay as a kid's piece with the firing stud blasters but adult fans will not like the tan brick sticking out like a sore thumb at the back and the armatures can be built better using joints and black claw tips for more accuracy. That aside, worth it for the minifigure.
Overall:
A nice little set, expanding the collection of Marvel characters. Let's hope we see Miss Van Dyne in future releases.

"There are no strings on me."
" Lego expand their sets from the second Avengers movie with a great set packed with lots of playability to recreate scenes from the Age Of Ultron.
The model:
Not a bad scaled down representation of the top levels of the Avengers Tower and a nice addition to any AoU collection. The set hinges open to allow access for all the play features.
On the ground floor we have the Iron Legion bays. The front windows hinge outward and the Legionnaires slide out on racks for launch. It's a shame there aren't 4 to fill the racks but you can always buy more. The other side has the medical bay with bed, cabinet with opening doors, a positionable drip bag, a syringe and a scanner.
The second floor has the repair bay with positionable manipulators so you can build Ultron Mark 1 on the turntable. The outside has 2 turning levers which can be used to blow the windows outward for Ultron's escape. The other side has a scanner bay and a bench with Loki's sceptre and a moveable scanner.
The top floor has the lounge area with seating. The sofa flips up and there is a secret compartment storing a gun underneath. The front patio area can flip upward in two parts and there are positionable stud blasters underneath. The other side has Tony's computer work station with two moving consoles and 3 moving vertical displays.
The roof has a rotating section which has 2 stud blasters and the front hinges out and a small drone can be launched from inside. The drone has twin stud blasters and moveable wings.
It's a great kit and one of the better playsets in the MCU line.
Building time is about 45 minutes. There are a lot of stickers to apply but Lego really should be printing these on pieces for a better finish.
Figures:
There are 5 figures in this set.
Firstly we have Tony Stark in his Mark 43 Armour. This is the same as other kits in the AoU line. Tony also has a black hair piece in case you wish to display his as such and has face printing on both sides.
Next we have Thor. Nice body printing on this figure and a nice, softer cloth cape. He comes, as always, with Mjolnir. His head piece has face printing on both sides.
Thirdly we have 2 Iron Legion Drones. These are great and a nice addition to the growing collection of Iron Man suits. The detailing is good and they have red hand and feet repulsar effects for each.
Finally we have the best of the set, the Mark 1 Ultron. Another nicely detailed figure showing the 'patched together' structure of his first body. I love the detailing on the clear head piece which enables you to see through the parts. He has had and feet repulsar effects in dark blue.
Overall:
One of the best playsets Lego have made in the Super Heroes line with a lot of play features and a good set of figures. The only comment I would make is that maybe there should've been a few more hinges used in the construction for stability. With only one top and bottom this may be a bit fragile for kids but it's still a great display piece.

Roger, roger!
" The MTT is back for the third time, this version resembling the size of the 2000 release but with some of the features of the 2007 version.
The model:
Not a bad representation of the Baktoid Armour Workshop Multi-Troop Transport, the colour scheme is okay and it's quite a solid model with some nice features.
The droid rack can be moved out using a turn cog on the right side, the front doors opening as you do so. There are opening upper doors to access the command section, some below that housing spring loaded missile launchers and positionable forward laser cannons.
The aft section has opening sides for the hover sleds with the PK-4 worker droid with its tools and a gun rack for the Battle Droids inside.
The designer seems to have taken a note from the actual Star Wars MTT toy when designing the upper aft section. This flips over and out and reveals a STAP inside which you can fly out - much like the Droid Fightercraft in the toy version.
Yes, this is not a patch on the 2007 version, which is considered to be the best version of the MTT to date, but it's not that bad. It is more child friendly, much like the 2015 AAT, and can be built in 45 minutes. There are a couple of stickers and it's ready to go. Given the few stickers there are, surely Lego could've just used printed bricks.
Figures:
There are 12 figures in this set.
Firstly, we have the 7 generic Battle Droids. Nothing spectacular but the good guys need something to take on. Except for the STAP pilot, they all have a blaster rifle.
The Navigation Droid is a welcome addition. I like the OOM-Series droids and it's armed with a compact blaster.
Next we have the Cybot Galactica PK-4 Worker droid. Not a bad representation and someone has to put the battle droids back together. There is a hammer and a spanner for it to use.
The Qui-Gon Jinn figure is nicely done, with good print detailing on the leg section. He comes with cloak and lightsaber. Rather disappointed with the alternate face, one eyebrow is raised. To be honest, you might just as well have left it single face print.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Like Qui-Gon has great print detailing and a slightly more expressive alternate face. Comes with cloak and lightsaber.
Lastly, the best figure in the group, the Naboo Security Soldier. Excellent print detailing and the uniform is nicely done. Armed with a blaster, he's a good figure for dioramas. For those who don't want to buy this set just for this figure, you can get it in the 2015 Flash Speeder if you'd prefer.
Overall:
This set has received a lot of negative press. Yes, it has holes in the front superstructure, the 2007 version is so much better, it's overpriced and there are not enough droids. Alas, this is justified.
However, this set is a symptom of a bigger problem with Star Wars Lego as a whole which is re-releases of the same sets over and over with very little improvement. Do we really need another Naboo Fighter, Troop Transporter and Sith Infiltrator again for 2015? No, we don't. Instead of re-treading old ground, why not do something new from the film? There are plenty of options.
Overall, the MTT is not a bad kit in itself and if you don't have the previous issues, then this may be the one for you.

A little more Wookiee tech for the Rebellion
" Expanding the series of kits for Star Wars: Rebels, we have the Wookiee Gunship, first seen at the end of Spark Of Rebellion: Part 2. A fun build, with several play features, even if the scale of the kit is rather confusing.
The model:
The Gunship is a nice representation of the vessel, even if it is on the small side. The two cockpits have opening canopies and the forward one has controls on a blue screen piece. A nitpick for me as that the cockpits do not fit flush with the ship and leave holes in the structure.
The aft door, again with a gap at the top, opens to reveal a small gun platform that you can sit another figure on, which is similar to the aft section of the 2005 Raddaugh Gnasp Fluttercraft.
The forward hull opens on both sides with a storage area for guns and a storage crate for extra disc blasts for the wing cannons. A couple of clips are required in here to stop weapons falling all over the place but you'll probably have spares from other kits. I removed the brown brackets from inside so the hull panels sit flush with the craft. I know they're there to make it easier for children to open the sides but they do push the panels out.
Finally the wings can pivot upwards and each one has a 6 shot rotary cannon underneath.
This can be built in 40 minutes. It would've been nicer for Lego to print the details instead of using 17 stickers.
Figures:
Firstly we have Kanan Jarrus. This is the same figure we have in the 2014 Ghost set and comes armed with his lightsaber and blaster.
Secondly we have my favourite, Wullffwarro. The paint scheme on the figure is nicely done with darker fur and the small metal band on his upper right arm is a nice touch. He's armed with a bowcaster.
Finally we have 2 Wookiee Warriors. Again, nice paint detailing on the figures and each is armed with a rifle. Perhaps a Wookiee battle pack will be in order in the near future?
Overall:
A fun build and nice to have more Wookiee vehicles and figures in the Star Wars universe. However, Lego missed a step on this one. This kit really should've been made in the same scale as the Republic Gunship. Yes, it would be more expensive but you could put in extra features, maybe 1 or 2 more figures, and create a really nice kit.

The Flash Speeder is back.
" Increasing your Phantom Menace collection, the 2000 Flash Speeder finally gets a makeover to a better scale and with nicer detailing than the first release. While the first version was a fun kit, this one surpasses it with ease.
The model:
The speeder is a very straightforward build and you can knock this thing together in 15 minutes without any hassle. The swing up doors seem a little cumbersome but it adds to the play features. There are little storage areas behind the seats to store the guns and equipment as well. There are also 3 spring loaded missile launchers in the kit, one in each side pod and the rotating turret on the top which enable you to blast those Battle Droids into pieces.
The figures:
Firstly, 2 generic BI Battle Droids. They're nothing special but it does give you something to shoot at.
Next we have Captain Panaka. Similar to the 2011 Sith Infiltrator version but with nicer printing on the body and now on the legs as well.
The Naboo Security Soldier is always a welcome addition and a nice figure, especially for those who don't want to buy the 2014 MTT to get one.
Finally, my favourite, Captain Tarpals. Great to have another Gungan figure for the Naboo forces. After myriad Jar Jars and a few warriors, it's good to have someone who can command these troops. Perhaps a Boss Nass figure would've been nicer in this set in favour of multiple droids.
Overall:
Not a bad kit, nice for dioramas and any Phantom Menace collection. The only detractor is that the set is definitely overpriced. Something like this really should be in the £25 range and no more.
