King Halbert's Mech
" The King's Mech is a medium sized set that highlights the leader of the kingdom-King Halbert. The mech looks like a gigantic knight with a transparent orange "helmet" piece that encloses the king inside so he can safely maneuver around. Like most other mechs, the right hand holds a large sword which has a nice design but maybe an unnecessary sticker. The mech doesn't really have another hand as a decent-sized flyer is attached to its arm. The flyer can fire two studs from stud shooters and can be detached when you please. The mech is shaped well overall and is pretty sturdy. The monsters in this set get a large crossbow. This crossbow uses the spider leg pieces from 2014, the new crossbow shooters and a bunch of other pieces in the dark brown color. Flamethrower is the name of the monster in this set and he reminds me a lot of Eyezor from Ninjago-it's probably the black mohawk. The other figures in this set are King Halbert himself and one of the kingdom's bots. Finally, 2 nexo powers are included. I think this set is a success and will probably be very popular because of the king and price. I like the mech, especially the shaping and the knight helmet piece that protects the operator. I wish the model used a different weapon like a mace or axe because I feel swords are way overused in Lego mechs. To give you an idea how many mechs use swords: "Kai's fire mech", "Samurai Mech", "The Destuctoid" (which is kinda a mech), "Anacondrai Battle Mech", "Titan Mech Battle", and the golden mech from "The Temple of Light". I know all those sets were Ninjago but you get the point. The flyer looks a little out of place but is great for play and the mech stands well on its own. I don't have a strong opinion towards this set so if you like what you hear, purchase it! "

Lance's Mecha Horse
" A large robotic horse, seems appropriate for this futuristic kingdom. I like the idea of the horse but I don't like that Lego tried to make this set a 2 in 1 style. Basically, this set can be either a horse or a bike and I think both look weird because of the other. Starting with the horse-the head looks good and the body has the perfect amount of bulk but both the front and rear legs don't look good at all. Because of the motorcycle transformation you have a wheel protruding from what would be the stomach (on a living horse) and another wheel directly behind where Lance would sit. The wheel behind Lance isn't the end of the world but the other wheel is impossible to look over in my opinion. This horse is also tail-less which is quite strange-this may not bother many people but I'm around horses a lot so it does bug me a bit. Now lets transform the mecha horse to bike mode. The bike is very oversized and Lance sits somewhat awkwardly-the bike is inconvenienced by the horse's size and the horse is inconvenienced by the bike's tires. I think Lego should have just focused on one or the other. I would have liked this set a great deal more if they made a more realistic looking horse and completely forgot about the bike transformation. Of course this is just my opinion and somebody else may prefer just a bike or maybe like the 2 in 1 idea but I feel like this set lost me with the transformation. Like many other sets, I think this one will have mixed opinions. Some people may applaud the set, some people may not like the set at all, and some people may be simply neutral. I'm in the middle. The idea of a robotic horse interested me but the transformation killed the design in my opinion. If you like what you see, purchase the mecha horse! If you aren't a fan, there are plenty of great Lego sets to save up for! "

Beast Master's Chaos Chariot
" Interesting...reminds me of a Star Wars podracer. Beast Master's Chaos Chariot is certainly a new, brave design from Lego which reminds me of a certain clip from "The Phantom Menace." Starting from the rear of the vehicle, there's a catapult and engine detail. Flames on the side give the idea that the chariot is moving fast. Beast Master stands right behind a round 2 by 2 piece. When this piece is turned the monster heads in the front will open. If you twist to the left, the right head opens. Twist to the right and the left head opens. One of these heads holds one of the numerous books of evil. Aside from the chariot, you get Macy's mecha-horse. This horse is identical to all the others with the exception of the red coloring. The two minifigs in the set are Beast Master and Macy. I like the Macy minifigure a lot but not so much Beast Master. As a final note, 2 nexo powers are included. This set isn't the greatest from this theme-it's a new design but isn't my cup of tea. I think more minifigs should have been included for the price and I think that the chaos chariot just has a strange look and isn't proportioned all that well. This is another one of those sets that I think will have lovers and haters or even some people floating in the middle. I'm on the people who doesn't have a strong opinion either way. If you like the set, purchase it! If you're not as much a fan, there are plenty of great sets to save up for! "

"Monsters, Make More Monsters!"
" Deliciously evil! I love the evil mobile because of its new flare and great design. Funny that the "Nexo Knights" theme is supposed to be a replacement for "Chima" yet this set reminds me so much of the old theme. If you don't follow me, the evil mobile has a giant jester head on the front which is quite similar to the whole animal head trend with Chima. Anyhow, I am quite pleased with how the jester head turned out as Lego designed it to be half black and half red-they even used black and red technic pieces to give it the look. As a continuation to the head, a jaw section is underneath. When the mobile is in motion the jaw moves up, forward, down, and then back. The function is smooth, effective, and pretty awesome! The inside of the mouth has some transparent elements and the back has a skeleton head but is otherwise empty. You can use this space for prisoners, transporting monsters, or whatever you wish. The upper levels are where Jestro and "The Book Of Monsters" sit/stand and command their army. Two catapults are positioned slightly below and fling large ammo. The wheels in this set are transparent orange and have red pieces surrounding them. The whole vehicle is actually moved by a large monster who is exclusive to this set. He's got a neat build and a cool helmet piece. The minifigures in this set are Jestro and Lance. "The Book Of Monsters" is also included in the set (but he's not a minifig) and so is the large monster (he's a large build, not a minifig). Let's just say there are 4 characters but only 2 of them are true minifigs. The only other things included in the set are a few nexo powers and Lance's mecha-horse. The horse is a nice inclusion and is identical to all the others except is a different color. In the end, I really like this set! I think more minifigures should have been included but we do get two exclusive characters which is a plus. I think the set could have been accomplished at a slightly lower price but the end result of the evil mobile is spectacular. I would recommend this set! "

The Fortrex
" Neat idea. I like that the fortrex isn't just another standing castle but a mobile base for futuristic knights. The castle rides on tank treads and can roll on any surface thanks to a new technic rubber piece! The entrance is a classic style drawbridge and the inside is what you'd expect in a base. You have the kitchen-Axl's probably behind that-and a place to train too. Up top you have one prison and a large cannon as well. In the center of the fortrex is a spot where the nexo knights can sit and consult with Merlok 2.0- four knights can sit around him. A bike comes in the set which is a nice sturdy build and so does a neat chef-bot. The monsters get a small vehicle in this set which has a nice design and is able to shoot discs. You get a few minifigs including Axl, Aaron, and a couple others. I feel like more minifigures should have been included and it's unfortunate that Axl's hands don't have articulation but what can you do. Overall, this set is a great start to the new theme and Lego didn't disappoint. I like the idea and execution of the fortrex and I would certainly recommend it. "

The Crocodile Legend Beast
" Success! The crocodile legend beast is a great little set which puts the new mixels ball joints to great use! The build is centered completely on the legend beast which has a small but effective style. Cragger (and one other figure) can sit comfortably on the beast even equipped with armor and weapons. The tail and legs can move along with the mouth which opens and closes. And I'm happy to say, for those of you who don't like stickers-like myself-the eyes and mouth pieces are printed! This set also includes Cragger who's a great figure to get in a cheap set (but he unfortunately doesn't have the updated print). I would recommend this set! "

Sensei Yang's Haunted Temple
" Big, grand, beautiful. What's not to like? Maybe the price but if you find a way to save up for this set, you won't be disappointed. Not only is the temple of airjitzu in this set but so is a smuggler's market and a blacksmith shop taking us back to old ninjago. Let's start with the smuggler's market. The market uses a bunch of sand green pieces and a couple gold accents too. I love the way the garage door pieces were incorporated into the build of the roof which adds to the oriental look and feel of the build. Two treasure chests are hidden in the roof as well. This shop sells just about everything you need from produce to seafood and even ninjago mechanize. Fishing rods are in use outside the market and plenty of baguettes, fish, apples, and cookies are available to those who go in. Two minifig scale ninjago playing cards are even included in this set: gold for Sensei Wu and regular white for Cole. This takes us back to the time of spinners, it's unfortunate those are no longer made. The other building included (aside from the main temple) is the blacksmith shop. Just to clarify, this shop is not four weapons, it's a completely different shop in a completely different area. Anyhow, the blacksmith shop uses sand blue and uses a neat wood design. This building is a lot more closed off than the smuggler's market but I like the variety. The shop doesn't have much in it but a cool design technique is used to make the forge and anvil. The second story is completely empty and you can use it for mostly anything, Lego suggests putting the flyer inside. I love the way the roof came out of this one! The top pieces interlace and there's even fallen leaves on the side. The blacksmith shop is surrounded by trees and the colors give us the idea that it's fall. Both the smuggler's market and blacksmith shop can be solitary builds as technic pieces hold them into the sides of the temple and an easy to remove footbridge attaches them as well. Finally, the temple of airjitzu. The first things to note would be the new rice paper windows and prints along with the beauty that Lego gave this set. The temple is positioned at a different angle than the norm but I like the look that resulted in different symmetry. The building is completely open-backed so it's easy to get your hands inside. The first level is like an entryway with a nice floor design and tea. The second level is a training room with a target, swords, and a bow. The third level is a study where you can read and paint. And the final level is the attic, it's small and only holds a crate containing Cole's belongings. The roof detailing and stone stairs add to the overall look. Do notice the statue of Sensei Yang outside-the instruction booklet gives you insight on the story of the haunted temple. Apparently, Yang took in students and was a great teacher until he knew he was close to death and became harsh wanting his students to learn and have the martial art live on. At the base of the temple is a shadow theater which uses a light-brick and is a play based on the great devourer. Lastly, the minifigures. The minifigs in this set are outstanding with all the ninja, the postman, Misako, Wu (in exclusive attire), and more! As you can tell, there is so much to this set! I like the inclusion of more than just the temple and I like that Lego gave some discreet mention to previous waves of Ninjago. I would 100% recommend this set! "

"I Have Taken Refuge At The Temple Of Fortitude"
" The latest and greatest temple is here! The temple of fortitude (as it was called) is a large and amazing set with great oriental detailing. Many things shoot in this set: discs fire under the dragon head, a cannon shoots from under the roof, and catapults fire on the sides of the head. There's so much stuff to say about this set so I'm going to use pros and cons:
Pros: large, fires many things, spinning rock walls at the base, large prison, minifig launch feature, detailing, tech room, new rice paper prints, minifigs
Cons: Zipline (got a knot in it), things are scaled small to make the building look bigger, not a lot of space unfortunately, overlord vehicle is clunky and I don't like the design
I hope the pros and cons helped a little but if I tried to type every last thing in this set, this review would be 10 pages long! I've had a lot of fun playing with this set and the pieces used have helped with my custom creations. I would certainly recommend this set as the good outweighs the bad and there's a lot of fun packed in "The Battle For Ninjago City."

"Throw Me!"
" Sometimes larger isn't better and this set is a great example. The NinjaCopter is a very large aircraft which Zane took control of using his technoblade. The cockpit area is a very big piece that can enclose many minifigures. 2 can sit in seats and around 2 more can sit in the far back. The NinjaCopter also has a small jail in the rear. The main feature of this large aircraft is the blaster mechanism. If you turn the tail (I don't know how to describe the piece) the side cannons will turn and the central propeller will turn as well. This feature is hard to describe so if you want to know more about it I would suggest going online and watching a video of the transformation. The nindroids in this set get a 2 in 1 flyer which is well shaped and designed. The minifigures are excellent. We get the exclusive P.I.X.A.L. and battered Zane along with 2 nindroids. My final rating came out fairly low just because of the price (I think a smaller set would have been fine), the durability (low, it breaks a lot), and the main feature (doesn't work well at all). I like that Lego was going for a new look in the Ninjago world and that the set includes exclusive figures but I don't think the set was as well executed as it could have been. I would not recommend this set. "

Thunder Raider
" The "Thunder Raider" is a relatively small set from the ninjago rebooted line that I think will either be liked or disliked. The set is composed of Cole's mech and Jay's thunder raider along with a small build for the nindroids. I like the design of Cole's mech a lot. It's basic but I like how the arms have both blades and blasters unlike the common sword in one hand and blaster in the other. The feet are well designed and look well scaled and I like the way Cole stands in the mech. Jay's vehicle, however, I don't like nearly as much. The raider's cockpit sits at a very awkward position when the guns are stowed. The main feature of the vehicle is the cockpit moves up and the blasters flip out. Nothing physically shoots in the entire set which is a little disappointing and I feel like the style of Jay's raider is too overdone. You can combine the ninja's vehicles by attaching the mech to the back of the raider-this is a neat concept but I don't use this feature virtually at all. The nindroids get a small assembly that looks pretty good and puts the printed saw-blade piece to great affect. Overall, this set is not my cup of tea. Like I said from the start, I feel like this set will have mixed opinions-mine being negative. If you like what you see, then I'm sure you'll enjoy having the "Thunder Raider" as part of your collection but if you don't-like myself-then purchase something different. "
