Summer of ‘89
" Thank you Nintendo. Thank you LEGO. Your companies WERE my childhood... and in a way, are still very much a part of it... The skills I acquired from playing with both ‘toys’ helped me become the man that I am today. I’m proud of my accomplishments and this amazing build pays tribute to a generation of men and women whom both built and designed the sets and games. Creators who made worlds which challenged my imagination and helped me grow as a person. Creations which generations of boys and girls played with to became great men and women as well. This is a tribute to joy and nostalgia and is a perfect partnership. Two of the most iconic names in any industry. Now that I’ve had the honor of holding, building, and admiring the finished product, I am more than impressed. This represents the foundation of my youth, and in a way my future as well. Thank you.

A Quality Build
" I was excited when I first read about this set before release, and it hasn’t disappointed! It was fun to build and looks fantastic! I’m on the fence whether to install a motor because it looks great as-is. For its cost, I feel you get a lot as far as build satisfaction and curb appeal. Great job LEGO!

For my brother, George
" Growing up, my brother George and I amassed a huge collection of toys. LEGO’s we’re always king. George was super into the old school pirate sets, I was never a fan. He ended up collecting each set released and they were always His Crown Jewels. He kept them through college, a stint in the military, marriage, and then passed them on to his children with pride. George passed away several years ago. When I first saw this set, it caused a surge of emotions to rise I had forgotten. It awoken my childhood and a new sense of joy. I bought 2 sets. I built one, which is now proudly displayed on my fire mantle. The other is George’s.
