"I've been to Sydney many times, and the Opera House never gets old. When I realized there was a chance to not only have a model to admire at home, but also build one of my own, I had to track down this set, years after it retired. The construction and design is genius, and very true to the colors and beauty of the original. I'm extraordinarily impressed by the design and scale. The set is instantly recognizable by anyone who knows the building, and the way the pieces come together from simple LEGO blocks is truly outstanding. Although there can be a lot of pieces in a set, I never find a build really "difficult" because the instructions (all four separate booklets) are well done. Attention to detail does matter, because it's difficult to disassemble sections of this set if you forget pieces or the sections aren't fitting properly. This set is one to admire, and enjoy rebuilding multiple times. A real benchmark and piece of pride for LEGO."

Another engineering marvel
"This was a set I had to track down years after it was released, but was worth the price. The height makes it an impressive and polished model appreciated by any age. The replicated detail and scale size is well done, and the build is fun. The way the cylindrical shape comes together, especially since the set uses all LEGO pieces and not a Technics frame, is fascinating. The icing on the cake is the graphic pieces are all printed, not stickers! Printed pieces definitely makes this set look more expensive than it is. The 1969 pieces is a nice nod to history."
"This was a quick build that I bought for it's appearance. The colors and functionality are great, and the mechanism to run the tread was a nice surprise to an inexpensive set. The snow canon really fires far! Only dislike is the stickers, which I'm never a fan of"
"This was a pretty cool build, and the small details add up to make a great, overall set. The engineering feat to accommodate the ship to be on a stand and display properly is extremely impressive: remember that most LEGO sets are flat on the bottom, or can be rested on the ground. This set cannot rest on the ground and is certainly more fragile, but it is a true 360 degree visual delight. It's purely a model, so if you are looking for a long build and impressive size, this the set for you (assuming you have the disposable income). If you are looking for something to play with or are saving to buy this, there are plenty of great sets besides this one. I do echo the complaint others have made: why wouldn't a Vader figure come with his own ship! LEGO should send one out to all those whom bought a set. But the ship speaks for itself, and the packaging is also exclusive and impressive."
"From age 5-15, I bought all kinds of LEGO sets, and now, at 40, have started appreciating some of the larger, significant sets instead of mixing all the pieces together as toys. This set was extremely impressive in the design of the construction, the thoughtfulness of the detail, fun of building the sections (the base in particular was a great surprise), and the beauty of the finished product. The instruction booklet came with fascinating info, and some parts are even hidden in the final construction. If I had any complaint, it would be the use of stickers instead of printed pieces. The playability is tight, but the colors and display size are captivating."
