"I’m a big fan of any LEGO set related to real-life spaceflight. I got into building again only a few years ago, so need to go back and piece-out a few of the older sets like the Curiosity Rover.
So far, I’ve built the Saturn V (twice), the LM and the Women of NASA sets. I was happy to know that there would be a LEGO ISS set coming from Ideas. I snapped one up online the day it was released. (First of all, I need to say that LEGO’s customer service is only rivaled by the likes of Apple and Honda.)
The ISS is...ok. I enjoyed building it (I enjoy all the sets I build), but something about the structure feels flimsy in parts. The back often looks like it will bend to the point of breaking. If anything, I was mildly underwhelmed, but that’s relative to something as amazing like the Saturn V. It’s sort of unfair to give an apples-to-apples comparison to these sets. Playability is moot to me, certainly in this case. I’ll swoosh my SW starfighters around for 10 seconds or so before displaying them, but the ISS, by virtue of its structure, is meant to be displayed. At the very least, the ISS has its moment in LEGO glory, and that alone is a good thing to me. I look forward to one of these being built on board the real International Space Station."
