"Please disregard my "Play Experience" rating as I am an adult and did not actually play with this set, I just imagined my younger self playing with it and rated it based on how much I thought I would have enjoyed it.
Just a little background, I am not particularly a fan of Overwatch nor have I ever played the games so when I first came across this set I never had any intentions of buying it, I kind of just ignored it when I was browsing the Lego Website.
A few days ago I was on a lego Fan website and they had an update indicating Amazon had the set on sale for 23.99 down from a $40 MSRP, thats 40% off. So I went over and checked it out.
I just came out of the dark ages and started building again as an adult and am really into the mechs so this set had an appeal for me, its also 455 pieces plus 2 minifigures for $23, I was sold.
The build wasnt too difficult but it did have some intricate parts and I really did enjoy building it, some of the sections were harder than others but nothing that was really challenging. The build took about 4 hours, It doenst need to take that long, but I build a casual pace while doing things around the house, watching TV, taking breaks to do adult things, but I got done in 3-4 hours with plenty of breaks in between.
I really did like the pink pieces that came in D.VA's mech - both shades of pink are really nice. As for the 2 minifigures I prefered the Reinhardt minifgure more, the helmet was really cool, D.VA does have some nice expressions on her face and I do like her little blaster.
A couple of the things I didnt like were the minifigure placement in D.Va's mech, she just slides in loosely and just rattles around inside, I would have prefered a way to seat and secure her rather than just have her in there loosely, that part of the desing was weak, its like they just quit at the end. There were also a lot of stickers, I prefer printed pieces myself but the stickers were probably necessary to capture the look, but there were a lot.
As for Reinhardts mech, his legs are a bit too stiff and bulky, nothing really creative about their design, theres not much movement in those legs compared to the dexterity in the arms, that could have been a little better. The good thing about the legs being like that is that he is pretty stable no matter how you pose him he wont really fall over. It allows you to display him in a nice action pose without any issue. I also like how the helmet on the minifigure looks with respect to the mech when the minifigure is sitting in the cockpit. Perfect fit. Also the design of the torso, arms and hammer are top notch.
This was a fun build and after it was completed I went over to Amazon and bought another set, I wanted to get my hand on more of those pink pieces from the D.Va Mech, I will just resell the minifigures in the 2nd set and get me all those 455 pieces at a great price for my MOC's
