"My son and I are huge Harry Potter fans. We have an entire Harry Potter LEGO village. I bought him this as a Christmas gift. I live in Canada so this set with tax is over 560$. What a wasted opportunity to make something great by choosing to cut corners. This was my most disappointing build of all the HP sets.
People have complained about the set having too many stickers. Some pieces require 3 stickers on it. The worst is the Weasley Wheezes (where the outer signs look terrible) but they all have significant amount of stickers which cheapens it and I’m sure they will peel and lift as the stickers aren’t even a good quality. It was just plain lazy for LEGO. This is a collector display set.
The other issue is the colour combinations are terrible. I wish they stuck to richer shades vs the pastels. The prettiest build is the first building. Another complaint is there is no space inside the shops. The build spills out onto the table as if it wasn’t long enough that they couldn’t make space for the figures. Some of the details are missed because it’s all hidden and tucked away. Also why so many tiny pieces? The last issue was getting the hat to move. They didn’t do this easily. It took a while to figure it out and tiny hands to clip it.
The good thing is from far it’s pretty I like displaying them separately. Also it looks like they have left it so other modules can be added. I hope they do as many iconic buildings are missing, but NO STICKERS! It at times was fun to build but it wasn’t exciting like the other sets. Would I recommend it? I don’t think so. It’s quality doesn’t meet expectations for a nearly 600$ set."
