Underwhelming service station, 2 nice cars
" We've got this set for Christmas and the more I look at it the more disappointed I am. The overall issue is that the set emphasizes the two cars instead of the service station itself. Let me get into more detail.
1) Putting the 2 cars aside there are 3 submodels, which are not connected together. A small banner/stand submodule, gas pumps submodule and a fragment of a convenience store. Since there is no baseplate or anything else connecting the three, the banner stand keeps falling over all the time, especially on a carpet. The gas pumps submodule is not very stable either - almost every time my son tries to 'refuel a car', the pump falls over while fiddling with the hose. There ought to be a base plate included and we will probably have to buy one separately.
2) The set is called service station, which is almost false advertising, you won't be doing any 'servicing' of the cars, you can just refuel them. The only 'servicing' tools are a bucket and a broomstick.
3) The cars are quite nice, but unless this is your only CITY set, you probably have a bunch of cars already. The 2 cars take up most of the piece count and that's why the building is so underwhelming. I'd really love it if there were less emphasis on the vehicles and the service station was expanded - with a base plate, perhaps an auto mechanic with some tools or a car wash. The older LEGO service station was way better.
Overall, if you really like the 2 vehicles, go ahead and buy the set. If you want this to play with a service station, you will be disappointed. "

Could be more realistic
" I overall like this set but still it feels like a missed opportunity. A lot of the aspects could have been handled better.
1) There is a monorail to get the astronauts next to the rocket, but I don't know how they're supposed to get to the top. Fly maybe? An elevator would make more sense than the monorail, as NASA would probably use a vehicle to get them to the rocket.
2) I have no idea how is this rocket supposed to land. Is it just the capsule that should return to the atmosphere? There are no boosters on the capsule, maybe some parachute? Or the whole rocket without the booster? I hope this is not one of those one way missions...
3) it would be nice if the cockpit would open and close without having to basically took it apart.
4) Booster rocket tops come off all the time as another reviewer already mentioned. Shame because the designer went to some pains to reinforce the bricks with various technic pieces in other places
"
