"I am a huge fan of the modular building kits. I have bought every single one singe the Green Grocer. I highly recommend any kit from the modular building series because they are a fun and complex build, the level of detail in them, and the way they look when they are displayed afterwards. I enjoy these complex kits because they give me a challenge when building them and I enjoy a long build. The level of detail that goes into these kits is phenomenal in the way certain parts are used for the architecture. They also make for a good play or display kit after it's done being built."

"This has to be my new favorite modular, I really enjoyed the color scheme in this building most modulars in the past have all been similar in color but this one catches your attention. I also like that the building has an unique shape and isn't just a square building. I hope these modulars continue to get better, in my opinion the modular series started to stand out when the parisian restaurant came out. The only issue I had with this building was the fact I was missing one of the small window pieces on the back of the building and had to do a slight modifiication."

"I recently bought this set and is my second modular building after The Palace Cinema and it exceeded my expectations in every way! The amount of detail both inside and out is AMAZING! The best part about the building is that you get basically five different rooms to explore each filled with lots of surprises and again lots of detail. The biggest room is the pool room which is situated on the ground floor and is also the first room you build. As I reached building the pool table I had to stop for few minutes and just appreciate the beauty and the techniques used to build it along with the decorations such as a trophy, a picture frame and a very nice printed dart board and a movable ceiling fan which actually spins as well. All of this was simply a priceless moment for me. The second room is the barber shop and perhaps the best part about it is it has an actual true reflection mirror and not some sticker. Both the barber shop and the pool room have tiled floors which is also a very nice touch. Finally on the upper floor we have The Detective's Office which is the second biggest room and also my favourite one. The detective has an actual tiny magnifying glass which just shows the level of detail LEGO really goes to. Other features include a safe which has money and a briefcase containing important evidence, a desk fan, a desk lamp, a map, a wanted poster, different cabinets containing letters inside and a secret wall frame which has a love letter hidden in the wall. There is an old pull chain style bathroom as well on this floor complete with a toilet paper roll and a tiny sink. Now since its a prohibition era there has been illegal smuggling of candy going on throughout the building, on the third floor there's a kitchen where all the candy is being made. There's an accessible roof which has a skylight looking straight into the detective's office who's trying really hard to solve the mystery. A brilliantly designed water tank and a cat is also placed on the roof. The candy is smuggled through a hidden backdoor of the barber shop and transferred through a hidden channel into the pool room. I had so much fun building this set and would definitely recommend anyone to get it as it is really worth every penny!"

"In my opinion the best part of the set was the interior detail and design. (And of course the minifigures.) :) Color choices of upper 2 rooms for exterior are not my favorite but the other rooms have good colors. Best exterior detail in my opinion is the water tower, great use of pieces, inspired. Best interior details in my opinion is the fan over pool table and the pool table itself. If this is your first modular then I would recommend either this set or parisian restaurant. I hope this helped. :) Happy Building!"
