A Golden Opportunity!
" Hello Lego fans. In this review you will find all the mini-figures in series ten from the Librarian to Mr. Gold!
Librarian: Good Points-The Librarian is a nice enough mini-figure who is nicely composed and has a pleasing array of decorated colours. The printing on her torso is pleasingly detailed and contains nice printing like her skirt and woollen vest.
Poor Points-Her book is very hard to hold when it is being displayed and the edges can get chipped by being held for long periods. Also, her appearance doesn’t necessarily make her stand out as a librarian.
Medusa: Good Points-Medusa is a really fantastic mini-figure and thoroughly unique to series ten.All four of her elements are unique, including her fantastic new snake hair, printed torso-single sided-and her dark green, uniquely scaled snake tail. Her head is also double sided with an angry and calm face, which is a decent bonus.
Poor Points-A lack of accessories is really the only complaint with Medusa. A dagger or a bow would be nice. Aside from this, the only complaint is that she is difficult to fit in a case and it is necessary to make a clever use of extra elements to fit her.
Roman Commander: Good Points-This is a very welcome addition to the mini-figure family and is an absolute must have for fans that have collected one or multiple editions of the Roman Soldier. He has a detailing and pleasing armour print on his torso and legs. The crest on his helmet is also very clever as it fits onto the original helmet of the Roman Soldier.
Poor Points-Since his only accessory is a sword, this makes him a little plainer than he could be. A nice edition would be to have a small, rounded shield with a printing like the Roman Soldier. One other gripe is that his helmet is a light grey colour, meaning that a dark grey shade might make it a tad more authentic.
Warrior Woman: Good Points-It is very nice to finally see a female warrior added to the line, giving the female mini-figures more presence in the series, with only a maximum of five a set. Her eagle shield is really fantastic and the slim line warrior armour is really nice.
Poor Points-There are really no gripes here except that it could be a nice addition to have printed armour over her back. Maybe another nice addition could be to have a double-sided head, one determined and the other calm state.
Tomahawk Warrior: Good Points-This is a new lease on the line of warrior styled characters and is a nice, as well as an original mini-figure. The new edition of a tomahawk axe is clever and the return of the Mohawk hair piece is really good. The detailed feather and muscle printing on his torso is also intricate and appealing to the eye.
Poor Points-The lack of printing on his back is somewhat disappointing, but okay due to his intricate chest printings. His legs are also very nice, but could have a bit more printed detail on the cream boots or loin cloth. He would go well with the Tribal Hunter and the Tribal Chief.
Sky Diver: Good Points-This mini-figure is thoroughly original and a really worthwhile addition to series ten. He has fantastically intricate printing on his torso and legs, detailing his parachute clips and harnesses. His green back-pack is also fun and comes in an exciting, rare shade of green. His windblown face and extreme, adrenaline fuelled smile is also a very fun feature which is very appropriate.
Poor Points-This mini-figure really has no qualms at all. Possible changes could have been a slightly more intricate back-pack or a printed star or other emblem on his helmet, similar to the Dare Devil of series seven.
Bumblebee Girl: Good Points-This is a thoroughly fantastic and really bright, fun and bubbly character. It is a great addition to the animal suits line and her clear wings and bee-antenna helmet are fun. Her clear wings and plain black stripes are also a fun feature.
Poor Points-No complaints are here at all really. The only difference that could have really been made was slightly more extensive printing on her honey pot, with honey all around the edges, or some golden studs to fill her pot for honey, similar to the Leprechaun.
Grandpa: Good Points-Grandpa is new type of mini-figure to the ever expanding collection and is pleasingly original. His balding hair piece is a very exciting new addition. Grandpa’s printing is highly detailed with his suspenders appearing on his front and back, along with short creases and his high pants.
Poor Points-Grandpa lacks any leg printings which would have added to his overall appeal. Also, this would have been a good opportunity to believer a thoroughly new and original element like a walking stick or a frame. Given this would have been difficult to develop however; Grandpa’s overall value is very nice indeed.
Paintball Player: Good Points-This is probably one of the poorer characters and he is a little plain and doesn’t stand out so much. However, his paintball gun is a really nice new piece and his brand new, rather bulky helmet is fun. The printing in his back, legs and torso are also good.
Poor Points-He is a little plain without his paintball gun, making him probably more of an addition to complete a collection rather than as a star collectable. Also, the random orange patch of paint on his back is a little odd looking and somewhat out of place compared to the all green paint blots over his chest and stomach.
Sea Captain: Good Points-This is a very nice mini-figure indeed and would go very well with the series four Sailors. His brand new cap is fantastic, with a broad top and a black with gold printing around the band. The seagull is a very cool accessory and is unique entirely. His torso printing is simple but pleasing.
Sad Clown: Good Points-A companion for the mime is a welcome addition to the collection and he is a nice and original take on the collectable clown themed mini-figures. It is good to see the Thespian’s neck thrill returning in black as a well as a brand new conical hat element. It is also clever to see a figure based on a certain historical personality.
Poor Points-One annoyance is that he is another clown mini-figure, though a refreshingly original version of this. Another slight gripe is that he lacks any accessories to hold. The simple printing on his parts however adds to his charm rather than detracting from it.
Revolution Soldier: Good Points-This is a long awaited and very welcome addition to the series, especially for those avid adult fans interested in civil war history and the like. His musket is not new, but is an authentic accessory and this heightens his collectability. His torso printing is pleasing and his stern face is also authentic and is topped-off by his fantastic new wig piece, with a ponytail and dark blue sash at the back of it.
Poor Points-He might have had a new accessory like a flintlock pistol or a slightly upgraded version of a cutlass. His legs could maybe have been upgraded too with some printing and some printing on his back could have been nice. This is overall a great historical edition.
Baseball ‘Stackers’ Catcher: Good Points-This is a great sporting figure and an absolute must have for fans of American baseball and other similar sports. He is also nice to have in this series as there is a conspicuous lack of sporting characters. His catcher’s glove is undoubtedly the highlight.
Poor Points-He lacks any handheld accessories and his back does not boost any printing for his jersey. A baseball for him to catch or for the Baseball Player to hit would have been a welcome accessory.
Trendsetter: Good Points-She is a glitzy and fun mini-figure, with a bubbly tone to her. A new addition of a Lego Chihuahua is a real highlight and the final creation of a printed I-Phone like piece is a fun new element.
Poor Points-Somewhat like the Librarian and the Paintball Player, without her accessories she might not stand out so much as a particular personality.
Decorator: Good Points-His thoroughly detailed printings over his legs, torso and back are very pleasing and make this mini-figure more special. This includes his overalls and blue paint blotches. A slightly altered new bucket piece is also cool and a new paint roller, incorporating a cylinder piece, is very efficient in design. A nice feature is that the roller cylinder can be removed if you wish to paint a different colour.
Poor Points-Once again, without his accessories, the Decorator is a bit plain and doesn’t stand out so much from other ordinary mini-figures. Another slight annoyance with him is that in this way he seems awfully similar to the Plumber character in series nine, making him that bit plainer.
Motorcycle Mechanic: Good Points-This is a very fresh and new mini-figure edition to the series which has not been covered before. Although the wrench piece is not new, this is easily made up for by the intricate printing not only on his torso vest, but on his legs and back, which includes a gang emblem.
Poor Points-His wrench is nice but could have been a fresher or even brand new piece. What may have been best would have been to produce this element in a brand new colour, such as dark grey or platinum matte silver.
Mr. Gold: Good Points-By sheer luck I managed to obtain this highly desirable mini-figure at my local toy store. He is very nice to look at and his chrome gold finish is a real stand-out. His dazzling smile and suit printing make him look very nice and the fact that he is coated in a chrome gold finish makes him entirely unique, apart from the diamond atop his staff.
Poor Points-Rather than the actual character being at fault, his extremity of rarity is thoroughly frustrating and only through extensive perseverance and persistence, as well as significant toil and many feelings through mini-figure bags, is he able to possibly be found.

The Force Is Strong With This One.
" Straight up, the Death Star is a fantastic set overall and probably one of the best, if not the best, sets I own. It is without question the most exciting and worthwhile Lego Star Wars purchase any Lego or Star Wars fan could make, whether interested in a good build or a great system of play with many functions. It is unique in every way, the way in which you build it and the overall finish of the model. This would be a splendid gift idea for any parents hunting for children and would provide many hours of entertainment and stimulating play that no other set could. It also includes the most fantastic menagerie of characters, which really add to the set. For buyers of the previously released Death Star Two, this is an absolute must-buy!
Now for the best and most exciting aspects of the set. Firstly, it is so extremely playable in so many ways, it could provide hours, or days, of play all in one box. It contains many unique scenes and concepts from the films found no where else in Lego, making it even more playable. Whats more, it contains scenes not just from a single film, but from all the films it appears in, meaning it is versatile and not just playable either. Secondly, the great collection of pieces is very useful and colorful, providing excellent space M.O.C potential and an eye-pleasing model. It also makes the set easier to build multiple personal creations with, as apposed to sets like the Imperial Star Destroyer, with mainly grey pieces. Thirdly, the mini-figure collection is fantastic at twenty-five characters in the set, the most of any set so far. This only serves to make the play experience that much more exciting. It would be great to see more large scale sets with these kinds of mini-figures, as well as the multiple accessories. Lastly, the play functions in the set are a main highlight with editions that include two sliding doors, a working rubbish compactor, two working lifts and a dispensable T.I.E fighter rack. These alone make the set a worthwhile purchase.
Now for the slight gripes about the set. Firstly, some of the interior fittings and fillings on the levels, mainly on the bottom, are a bit sparse and could be added to or extended. This is mostly seen on the bottom four chambers, which have no interior at all bar some cylinders and crates. Some more rooms like sleeping quarters could be added here, or even some form of weapons store. Secondly, some elements of the set are rather crudely assembled and could be better put together, as holes in walls are exposed or supports look a bit scant. This is mainly seen on the prison block level where there are no blocks to fill the gaps between the slopes, exposing blank grey walls, and gaps left between the rubbish compactor grate and cell door. This is due to the fact that the gaps are five studs wide while the doors are only four. Thirdly, the set includes a great selection of mini-figures and characters, but lacks some characters that would be nice or appropriate to have with the set. Missing characters include some Imperial officers and maybe a handful more Death Star troopers or Storm troopers. Lastly, while the play functions work very well, some of the moving parts are a bit loose and wobbling, rendering them slightly unstable and juddering when in use. This is mainly seen in the giant laser ray dish, which is only actually secured to the model at the base, meaning it wobbles and shakes when being rotated. The receptacle for the hanger door also leaves the slot which the doors slides into exposed.
Overall, this is a great set and is a land-mark and worthwhile purchase for any Star Wars and Lego fan. The versatility and extremity of play functions makes it all the more worthwhile and potential buyers should grab this golden package before the product is retired. The real quality of the set shows through in how long it has remained on the Lego website. The only real fault here is the extensive price, at $700 in Australia. Prices aside, it is a fantastic set and any expert Lego builder should consider it as a purchase!

Fresh From The Lego Forge!
" Hello Lego fans. The Orc Forge is a very nice set and contains many detailed, unique and intricate elements for a fair price. It is a must buy for Lego collectors and L.O.T.R fans, as it contains three unique mini-figures and several wonderful accessories and elements. The build is simple, but fun, and uses clever techniques to give it a proper, finished look-this is mostly from the front view. It also contains many elements in pleasing and useful M.O.C colors like dark-brown, dark-grey and the rare sand-green. The thorough and detailed attention to the rocks is especially good to see and it would be nice to see this in many more sets-The Battle Of Helms Deep could make use of this. It is a great package because it contains unique characters, a good array of pieces, nice colors and all at a fair price!
Now for the good aspects of the set. Firstly, the play functions are very nice and are lots of fun to recreate your own battle scenes. These include a working winch to lift a barrel of metal, a light up furnace and a Uruk-Hai birthing pit with removable rock face. They also authenticate the set and seeing these often included in sets would be great. Secondly, the almost unique mini-figure combination is a real star of the set as it includes Lurtz-just out of the birthing pit-and two Mordor orcs, which cannot be found in any other L.O.T.R sets. These are great for expanding your Lego army! Thirdly, the addition of the light brick to illuminate the smelting furnace is really great and a lot of fun to add realism. It is also nice as it gives a unique electronic function to L.O.T.R line and could be removed to customize other sets. Lastly, the accessory combination is really nice and contains some unique armor and weapons, which are also very good as an army builder. This is the only place in which you can get Uruk-Hai helmets and shields adorned with the white hand of Saruman. The silver, smooth studs are also a nice and rare addition.
Now for the slight gripes of the set. Firstly, the winch which winds the barrel of molten metal up and down is actually not pressed against its support, but extends out by about two studs. This means that it is rather flimsy and tremulous and would probably collapse if two technique beams did not support it. This also means that it looks rather crude and strange, if not slightly unfinished from the side. Secondly, the set is oddly built in two halves, which means that it is rather flimsy at the base as well and also means it can be hard to carry and elements might snap off. Thirdly, the birthing pit is only a hand operated feature, and it would be great if it had some kind of push operated device to push Lurtz out, instead of using your finger. The problem with the way this is designed, too, is that it leaves a hole at the back and Lurtz can slide out! It also means you must remove the rocks before pushing him out. Lastly, the size of the set is good, but could be little more detailed or perhaps more intricate. This mainly refers to the fact that the anvil and weapons forge are not integrated, but are loose from the set. It would be nice if these had the option to be attached.
Overall, The Orc Forge is a valuable and sometimes rare collectors package, and is especially a good buy for real L.O.T.R fans. The pieces and mini-figure combination is quite pleasing and makes it all the more worthwhile. This is also a good set if you would like to build your army, or you like to collect battle packs. This is a must for fans wishing to complete the current collection. This valuable package should be at the top of the list for Lego and L.O.T.R collectors!

A True Delight To Find Under The Tree!
" Hello Lego fans. The Winter Village Post Office follows on very nicely from the previously released sets in this collectible line. It contains the second largest amount of pieces for the average in these sets, and this includes many unique and handy accessories and elements. The addition of elements like the vintage mail van, wooden bench and gazebo are very nice, along with some unique accessories which include, for the first time, a banjo and a saxophone. It matches up well along side the Toy Shop and Bakery, and especially lines up well with the bakery on the right side, because the tree sticks out on the left of the Toy Shop. Like the other sets this is worthwhile to collect as it is one more addition to a uniquely Christmas themed display. It matches very nicely and makes a proper addition to the collection. A real festive treat.
Now for the really nice aspects of the set. Firstly, it is thoroughly unique and very beautiful, as it is one of the few Lego sets to be utterly themed around a Christmas motive. This makes it a great buy for ultimate Lego collectors and Christmas lovers as it will make a nice decoration or even a great display on a table, shelf or mantelpiece. It is worthwhile to purchase all the winter village sets to go along with it as together they make it very vibrant. Secondly, it includes many nice elements and accessories, which have not been seen in other sets and are only found here. These include the fantastic band instruments-a saxophone and a banjo- and a vintage, old style mail van. It also includes many brightly colored elements and pieces which are great for M.O.C creations. These include dark green boards, cream colored bricks and floor tiles in sand yellow and light royal blue. Thirdly, it is one of the only time Lego has actually released a model based around a post office and this makes it even more special. This also makes it as much a worthwhile purchase as the other winter sets, as the concepts are infrequently focused upon. Lastly, the interior and exteriors of the model are a real highlight and contribute to the overall look. This includes blue dragon fire as icicles, Christmas lights, a fire place, glass lamp, mail boxes and the traditional light-brick used as an office lamp.
Now here are the slight gripes of the set. Firstly, the roof of the Post Office is a slight flaw as it is rather loose in some parts and has a tendency to swing open or closed when the model is moved, knocked or transferred. The points of the roof aren't anchored down, like in the Toy Shop. One other annoyance with the roof is that as it is dark green, it gives the building a great look, but doesn't directly match with the other sets as their roofs are white to look like snow. Secondly, the overall appearance of the interior is very snug, but could use a bit of work in the field of detail. The tiles are nice, but there is a lack of furniture other than a mail desk made of two brown bricks, two red mail boxes and a fire place as well as a chart on the wall. The light brick is also, rather strangely placed, as it just hangs above the shop with no particular function, The upper floor is also a little lacking with only a table and coffee cup. Thirdly, the gazebo is slightly crudely constructed and has a tendency to twist or buckle if the roof is grabbed or turned when picking it up. Also, the roof flaps are not entirely secured and will flip up and down as well as twist side to side. Lastly, the little bench that comes with it is good, but looks a little last minute as it is loose and none of the trees included with the set stand on it. The snowballs are also unevenly placed.
Overall, this is a very nice and festive set which celebrates the true enjoyment of Christmas as well as being a quality product for Lego fans. It provides a unique look at Christmas decorations and and makes for a very nice display and a satisfying build. It also has the added feature of being part of a one-of-a-kind collection. Any true Lego fan should be delighted to find this one under the tree!

You Won't Be Bored With This Mighty Board Game!
" Hello Lego fans. This is a great board game and tremendously fun as well as inventive and a great innovative way to look at playing board games. It was really great to experience Lego and the fun of playing family board games together! The concept behind Minotaurus is simple but a lot of fun and very satisfying to play over and over again. In fact, the simplicity of the game made it even more fun to play as you didn't have to worry about any complicated rules and the rules there were, were easy to remember. The pieces included in the set are a highlight with a good hand-full of unique micro-figures and many bright green bricks. The Lego dice is always great as well along with the printed tiles. The build may be very simple, but it is worth buying this game just for the fun of playing it!
Now for the star points of the game. Firstly, the actual game play itself was a real highlight as it was simple and easy to remember. This was also great as it made game play family friendly and far easier for younger players. The nice aspect of play, as with all Lego games, was also that you could alter the rules and board however you liked, making it simpler or harder depending. This made the purchase very versatile. Secondly, the pieces arrangement was very nice with twelve unique micro-figures, many bright green bricks, a Lego dice brick and six Lego dice tiles. These pieces were all great for M.O.C buildings and other custom builds which cannot really be found outside Lego games! Thirdly, the cardboard shape plate included with the set was nice as it made assembling the maze easier and far harder to put bricks out of place. This was also good as it helped when you wanted to make and customize your own maze. Lastly, the addition of a rule book and a manual individually was very handy so you didn't have to sift through the pages too much. Unlike most Lego sets, it was also very useful that the box could be used to store the game even after you had opened it. This meant storage problems were taken care of even before the game was bought!
Now for the slight annoyances of the game. Firstly, the board was a little simple and this meant that the build was also very simple and not as exciting as a set focused around play. This was okay, however, as the actual game itself was very fun to play and the board needn't be complicated, especially with the addition of the removable walls. Secondly, the minotaur which sat on the temple in the center of the game was a little flimsy and his horns would often snap off or he would come off of the temple. He was also, sometimes, hard to stick onto the board, especially if he went next to a hero. Thirdly, sometimes when you carried the board, being built on a single 32 times 32 stud piece, it flopped and some of the pieces popped off or broke off and rattled around on the board. This often happened with the minotaur and he couldn't fit on top of the temple when you closed the box either. Lastly, the walls were very nice, but they didn't really have a proper storage place other than the sides of the board. It would have been coll to see the more integrated into the board when not being used in play.
Overall, this was a very nice set and provided excellent, family friendly and lasting game play. For true Lego fans this is a very worthwhile experience as it combines not only the greatness of the Lego brick, but the traditional fun of board games with inventive and new found style. The twist Lego provided in their own way on board games was a lot of fun. If you are interested in a purchase to use with family or friends, as well as a product that is versatile, then this is the one you want to go for!
Note: Lego board games are at their best if you buy them for the playing experience rather than the actual build.

A Magical Package Indeed!
" Hello Lego fans. The ultimate collector's version of Diagon Alley, the only one to feature Olivander's, is a very nice set indeed. The overall appearance of the set is really very nice and it has a great assortment of nicely colored pieces in different varieties. The amount of minifigures is also great at eleven-almost four per shop-and the assortment is good with a few unique characters including, and most notably, figures of Fred and George for the first time! Although not unique it also contains some other nice characters such as Hagrid and some goblins. The interiors of the shop are reasonably good with many removable components like wands, skeletons, coins and jewels. Some neatly incorporated play functions like a spinning flu network fire place and an exploding desk are also nice. The great plus here is that it covers virtually all the films!
Now for the best aspects of the set. Firstly, the lurid and pleasing combination of pieces is indeed fantastic for M.O.C creations with elements coming in colors such as bright yellow, cream, blue, white and even a few textured column bricks. These are great for mythology style temples and models. Secondly, the exteriors of the shops and the clever use of intricate techniques is great. Most of the building highlights appear in Borgin and Burke's, which has the most features of any of the buildings and is probably the nicest. The hinged skylight on the roof and the hinged display window are really nice and the use of vines growing up the side looks great! The wand shop is really the best overall as it has beautifully curved windows on both levels and a nice finishing with a dark-blue tiled roof. Gringotts is quite nice with the use of tiles to represent protruding bricks in the walls. Thirdly, the minifigure collection is quite pleasing with many minifigures we have seen before-Luscious Malfoy-and two brand new characters-Fred and George Weasley. Potential buyers should beware however as they are actually both the same figure, but with the same reversing head. Lastly, the interiors are quite nice, although maybe somewhat sparse, and contain many nice details from the films. These include an exploding desk in Olivander's, a spinning flu network fire place in Borgin and Burke's and a clerk's desk with a vault in Gringotts bank with the philosopher's stone.
Now for the gripes of the set. Firstly, although really quite nicely done, the interiors could do with a bit of work as they are somewhat sparse and contain furniture mainly pushed against the walls. This is mainly seen in Borgin and Burkes where there is a vanishing cabinet on the left wall and a fire place on the right with a skeleton in the central window. Nothing, however, is in the center of the store and some extra shelves with bottles or even a hand of glory might be nice to see. Secondly, Gringotts is a little bit of a letdown as the interior is rather cramped as well as minimal because of the floor space. The outside of the building is also a little flimsy-the pillars at the front don't lock into place at the top-and somewhat crude or uneven. It would probably have been a good idea to create doors made from Lego pieces instead of two specially made doors. Thirdly, some of the minifigures could be looked over a bit more thoroughly as this is about the third set to feature Luscious Malfoy. Fenrir Greyback is also a nice addition, but does not really ever have much to do with the set and might have been nice to be replaced with a rarer minifigure like Bellatrix Lestrange-in reference to the sixth and eighth films. Lastly, the selection of shosp was nice, but could have maybe been altered slightly to include Weasly's Wizard Wheezes or some other store. Also, as Borgin and Burke's appears in Knockturn alley, it actually was out of place.
Overall, this is a nice set and a great collector's piece. Although this is a rather late review in reference to the product release, hopefully it is helpful. The pieces assortment is fantastic with multiple colors and different varieties. The collection of accessories is also great to see with many nice elements like witch hats, cauldrons, owls and even a fish! This is a true Harry Potter collector's item for any Lego and Harry Potter mad fan! A thoroughly worthwhile buy!

A Droid And A Set That Is One In A Million!
" Hello Lego fans. The ultimate collectors large scale model of everyone's favorite Star Wars droid, R.2-D.2, is a fantastic purchase and a terrific set. It remains very true to the actual character with all his classic functions including a retractable third leg and extendable equipment under his chest plates. The model itself is a descent size at about one third of the true scale-the model is thirty-two centimeters high while the actual R.2-D.2 is around one point zero nine meters. Adventurous fans could even purchase multiples of the set to make a life-size replica. The set however does not have any room in the interior of the model as it is entirely taken up by the retractable leg mechanism. Any fans hoping to custom build motor parts into this to make him move will have to gain more parts to make room. The overall features of the set make up entirely for any lack in custom potential.
Now for the really good points. Firstly, R.2-D.2 has many multiple play functions and features which make him fun to actually use and mess around with, unlike the finished product of other ultimate collector sets. He provides a descent build and many pieces for M.O.C creations while actually making for a great play experience. He contains five play functions which are a 360 degree rotatable head, retractable third leg, space craft linkage arms which fold out, a universal computer interface arm and a buzz saw that is also retractable. The buzz saw and interface arm need to be fully extended by hand. His two legs are also movable so he can change positions. Secondly, a real plus is that he is a bust of a character, which we haven't been treated to since the model of Yoda. This means he can match up really nicely with other Star Wars collector sets like the bust of Darth Maul. Thirdly, he comes with a nice display plaque which is very handy if you want to put him out on a shelf for people to see. The extra bonus is that it comes with an actual R.2-D.2 character! Fourthly, he is not only very playable, but fully extendable so he can assume a variety of positions to allow for his third tread as well as standing on his main two treads. It means he can be displayed in multiple positions.
Now for the slight problems. Firstly, this might have been just the way I put him together but there seems to be a slight hitch in the retractable third leg mechanism. The lever which activates it-through a slot on his back-keeps the leg either in the retracted or extended positions so they do not fall out of place. However, when you release the lever, you need to extend the leg by hand or push it back in by hand. The mechanism does not wind it up or down. Secondly, the legs are very well designed, but ever so slightly delicate or flimsy as each foot is only connected by a single Lego Technic beam. This means that sometimes his legs will splay outwards or he'll fall over. Another beam or two might make him more secure. Thirdly, he lacked one or two functions which might have been nice to see, such as his leg rockets or periscope. The head might have had room for some gadgetry, but the legs were really to thin. The functions he has, though, are very good and make up for this. Fourthly, a small flaw seemed to be present in the design in that the back of the dome had a two by one Lego Technic beam filled with two blue pegs, but no covering. This could have been covered with some studs to act as dials maybe? Another slight flaw is that the treads lack wheels for him to roll along the ground on.
Overall, this was a terrific and entertaining build as well as a fantastic set. The multiple aspects of it were also great as it not only served as a great display piece for a desk or shelf, but also as a good play item, owing to the multiple functions instead of being an inanimate object. It is also good M.O.C potential as it contained thirty-six spare parts which could be added! This is really a great set and a worthwhile purchase for avid Star Wars fans, Lego fans and anybody who loves everyone's favorite droid, R.2-D.2!

You And Your Pet Will Love This Set!
" Hello Lego fans. The modular Pet Shop lives up quite nicely to the standards of the other buildings like the Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium and Town Hall available in the Creator Expert line. It is nicely finished and like the Grand Emporium, includes a pleasing and often detailed as well as clever interior. A real plus for buying this set is also that it has one of the most stunning exteriors seen on the modular buildings. The most beautiful and pleasing features being the circular window column on the apartment and the French like windows on the blue Pet Shop and apartment combination building. That is one nice thing in particular about the Pet Shop-it has a deceivingly intricate interior. This is the best of the two buildings. However, I would not say you are getting extra value for two at the price of one rather than two buildings which equal one standard modular. Therefore the price remains at a good value for the similarity of a single building at a slightly lower piece count-2032 pieces.
Now here you can find the good points for buying this nice set. Firstly, the exteriors are very nice and pretty to look at with many pleasingly detailed and intricate techniques not seen on other modular builds. These intricate and standout features include the little windows at the top of the Pet Shop, the door arch of the apartment and the window column also on the apartment. Secondly, this set has a pleasing interior in most aspects with cleverly designed furniture and a really detailed furnishing in the Pet Shop. Some of the real interior highlights and firsts seen here are the cyclone shelter in the apartment-with an interior and exterior entrance-the telephone made from a lightsabre hilt, the toilet-a first time-and the bedroom adjoined to the kitchenette in the Pet Shop. Thirdly, this is one of the few sets were you will not only get a pleasing assortment of minifigures-although some new faces would be nice-but you also get a great assortment of Lego pets or animals. The set includes two red and green parrots, a brown printed dog, Mrs.Norris from Harry Potter, a mouse, an orange gold fish and a yellow frog disguising itself as a dog toy. Finally, the nice assortment of pieces in various colors is great for M.O.C creations with pieces coming in shades of brown, light brown, cream and the rarer color of sand blue.
Now for the gripes of the set. Sadly, the Pet Shop is probably the modular most at fault, although it is still a great set to buy. Firstly the apartment building is rather flawed with a very nice interior on the first floor, but really nothing on the second or third. It was a bit saddening to see that only a spiral staircase-a very nice touch-adorned the second floor along with a painter, while the third only contained a railing and two brick boxes. This was a bit of a slack in the design. Secondly the roof top section of the apartment which was meant to complete it didn't look quite right. The use of perhaps rather more basic sloped bricks in maroon red combined with the bare studs on the front balcony gave it a slightly slap-dash, crude and unfinished look. The top most removable section was rather flimsy too. Thirdly, the rear of each building was okay but could have used some more detail as the board left eight studs worth of construction space and it looked a bit bare as well as floppy. It also makes the buildings look smaller when paired with the other modular sets. The details included were stairs, a storm shelter entrance, a dog box and a bucket to wash the cat. Finally, this set was rather smaller than other sets and as such seemed to compromise on certain details as well as some sections of the build. These details include a strange lack of any panes or fillers in the top most Pet Shop windows.
Overall, this was quite a nice set and as much a worthwhile purchase as any other modular set. It is at a very good price and despite some of its setbacks, has the extra feature of being able to be split up and individually mixed with other buildings in a way no other modular can. This is a great addition and makes this set worthwhile as a gift or purchase for any hardcore collector! True fans and animal lovers should consider purchasing this versatile package!

Those Lovable Characters Strike Again!
" Hello Lego fans! It's hard to believe this whole minifigure collecting craze started about two years ago. And here we are winding up with the latest edition to the popular series-series nine brings the grand total of officially collectable minifigures to one-hundred and forty-four! Like the previous collections this is great fun and of terrific novelty. The unique and exciting range of brand-new pieces make it worthwhile collecting these minifigures as well as expanding your own city or just having something nice to display. These minifigures look great in the line of display cases that Lego released about series four-especially when they are labelled. Some of the minifigures highlight this collection-such as the cyclops and chicken suit guy-while some others are perhaps plainer but still nice-the waiter perhaps. For anybody who has started from series one, these are a must!
Now for the good and bad points regarding each individual minifigure:
1-The Waiter: This is a nicely done minifigure with a pleasingly printed wine bottle and a brand new platter, tuxedo and mustache printed face. The best features here are the printed grapes in gold on the bottle and the very prim tuxedo and tie.
The annoyances with this figure is that he is a little plain-no back printing-and that there is apparently only two per box. Considering he is rather less detailed, why make this rarer compared to someone like the chicken suit guy?
2-The Cyclops: This is a very pleasing minifigure and a real highlight to the collection. The real advantage with buying this little guy is that there is no other figure like him and every element is unique-he even has a rotating minifigure head with different eye expressions!
This minifigure really does not have any downsides as he also has printing on his back, a unique grey caveman club and a classic minifigure head compatable mould. For buyers only buying certain figures, this is the one.
3-Hollywood Starlet: Anyone notice a resemblance in this one? The Hollywood Starlet gains many points as she is one of the first minifigures to be seemingly directly based on a real personality-Marilyn Monroe! This alone makes this character a must!
The only gripes with this character is that it would have been nice to see some printing to complete the backing of her dress.
4-Heroic Knight: This minifigure is quite nicely done and includes nice elements like a unique printed shield. For any collectors wanting to expand a medieval minifigure collection or Lego landscape, this is the one. He also nicely matches with the series seven evil knight!
The slight gripes here are that he is slightly generic with many versions of a knight already produced in castle sets. But as a stand alone character he is worthwhile.
5-Roman Emperor: It is very nice to see a minifigure finally based on the infamous Ceasor and this alone makes it worthwhile. The scroll with Veni, Vidi, Vichi is also a clever plus!
The slight gripes here is that he could have used some back printing and perhaps a slightly more detailed toga or hair. Another nice object fro him might have been a goblet!
6-The Roller Derby Girl: This was quite a nice minifigure which adding a pleasingly more tough side to the female minifigures and added in some nice character items-the roller skates are a real plus and stick to studs!
The slight annoyances here are that there was no back printing and that left the minifigure looking somewhat plain.
7-Battle Mech: This is an okay minifigure and a real standout if you are a fan of manga or anime. The battle helmet and torso cover are the good reasons to get this guy!
The slight annoyances here are that the back of the torso carries no printing which could be nice as the torso cover was rather crudely completed at the back. Some more detailed face printing might also have been nice.
8-Mr Good and Evil-This is really a nice one and is a must for classic horror fans. It is nice to see him based on both Dr.Jekyl and Mr Hyde at once! The two sides of the entire figure are also fantastic detailing!
The slight annoyances with this great character is that he would be greatly completed with a half torn and neat shirt on the back. Maybe another item for his evil side would also finish it nicely.
9-Mermaid: This is a great minifigure to get for the many unique elements it includes such as the tail and torso. It is also nice to see a companion minifigure being made for the series seven ocean king.
The only cons with this are perhaps it could have had different items to hold. Maybe it could have had a pearl or clam shell mirror?
10-Alien Avenger: This is okay but the great features are mainly limited to a unique face, torso and legs. The space outfit is also useful for space collections or battles.
The gripes here are that he is to much like the galaxy patrol from series seven and is the fourth alien addition to the collection. This idea is getting king of weak.
11-Plumber: This guy is rather plain but quite nice as he contains a unique cap as well as detailed back printing he is pretty good. The plunger is also a real plus and it actually works!
The slight annoyance here is that he is simply a little plain and could have used hat printing.
12-Forest Maiden: This is quite a nice addition as she contains a nice printed shield, torso and dress brick. Like the roller derby girl it is nice to see a stronger female minifigure presence with this addition.
The slight annoyance here is that her hair is not solid but made of a rubbery material which makes it bend a little bit more than I would like.
13-The Judge: This guy was a long time coming and is a great addition. The gavel he holds is a real highlight and the return of the robe is great along with a brand new powdered wig!
The only annoyance here is that his printed torso is somewhat plain and could have used a bit more detailing.
14-Chicken suit guy: This is an absolute must have and is a real highlight. His unique head and winged torso are really fantastic and fun elements.
The only gripe about this gem is that his torso really could have used some feathered printing.
15-Fortune Teller: This is really nice and the printing is well detailed and intricate. The hair and shawl piece is really fantastic.
The only gripes here are that she might have included a crystal ball as an item.
16-Police Man: This is quite nice with a new cap and torso. The new I.D card and a classic pair of handcuffs are also useful.
The only annoyance is that he is slightly generic and rather too much like the series two traffic cop.
Overall this is a fantastic and worthwhile collection. Previous buyers should get these!

A Valuable Purchase In More Ways Than One!
" Hello Lego fans. The Grand Emporium is really a fantastic modular and in my opinion possibly the best in the line. It is thoroughly unique and the build is quite enjoyable if maybe rather more simplistic and in need of repeating itself due to the return to corner style-which is actually very pleasing to see as we have not had a corner building since the Cafe Corner. The interior is another great detail as it provides probably the most detailed of any modular yet produced, if sometimes somewhat scant. A real focus for potential buyers here is that the set can be considered virtually unique as Lego have never yet released any other large-scale department store other than this set. This would be a great gift for serious builders and modular collectors, as well as a good place to start for slightly more novice builders due to the slightly more simplistic but very satisfying build compared to other modular sets. The pleasing arrange of piece colors also, as usual gives great M.O.C potential.
Now for the very prominent and most significant good points. Firstly the interior is a real highlight and reason to buy the set as it is very detailed and much attention has been payed to the accuracy of it. This is great as modular sets mostly focus on the exterior and the interior is somewhat forgotten. It would be great to see this in more modular sets. The escalators are a real highlight-being unique to the set-along with the glass railings and the stunning crystal chandelier. Secondly, the exterior is also a highlight as it is overall very pleasing due to the nicely composed combination of cream, grey, sand and sometimes lime-green colored bricks. This decided combination also adds an extra air of well decided realism and faith to a real, vintage type department store. The many windows are also nice to see. Thirdly the devotion to added realism is really well executed and very pleasing including features like a brick-made billboard, lovely skylight and defined departments on each level of the store. The departments include the most classic as seen in today's stores such as a ground floor perfume and cosmetics departments-just like any store-, a second floor department selling china plates and bowls, and a third floor toy department. There is even a Lego house with the toys-a nice touch. Lastly, the originality of certain features included and the overall beauty of components like the chandelier are very nice. The escalators are also really nice.
Now down to the minimal gripes about aspects of the set. Firstly, the interior, although very well done is perhaps slightly unbalanced and sometimes bare or scant with much of the detailing being packed into the first floor department. Many shelves, displays, a counter and even a changing room are here along with an escalator while the other floors are relatively basic. Some would argue it is a bit busy compared to the two tables within the second floor boosting plates and cups and the three displays on the third floor baring a scooter, beach balls and a small Lego house. Secondly the exterior is also very well planned and executed with a simple yet pleasingly neat and well-spaced design. However it does leave a few small faults which could be easily covered or made to better the overall look. These include simple, bare bricks securing the shop sign-perhaps nice to smooth these off with tiles-and one-by-one slopes interspersed with only studs on the plates holding them below. It might be nice to see some studs there. Thirdly the build is unusually simplistic compared to the other modular sets, though still satisfying. This is probably because being a corner building it needs to retain a neat and slightly repeating and well structured design. Lastly, the roof top could be finished off with a little more detail such as railing at the edges-most modular sets have these.
Overall the Grand Emporium is a fantastic and very visually pleasing set. It is also thoroughly unique and provides a proper perspective on vintage department stores. The build is simple but pleasing and provides good hours of entertaining construction. This set would make a great gift and give good potential for M.O.C creations. Ardent collectors of the modular series should consider this as a must-buy for their collections. This is a must-buy and fantastic purchase for a true modular fan!
