Clever but...
" My Christmas present to myself this year and was prompted by the animation on the Lego Homepage. After finishing it, I wish I'd bought the crane. Dont take that the wrong way its possibly that I was expecting more from the set.
The basic principes are a twin mode lifting arm allowing the container to be either deposited off the back of the truck, or to be hoisted high and emptied as a tipping lorry. A very clever mechanism and I'd recommend the set purely for that alone. There are however some aspects that could be improved and some advice that I'd like to share;
The tipping action is controlled from the switch atop the battery box which as you may be aware, can be awkward to stop at the correct point without inadvertantly slipping the drive direction into reverse. The reason as to why you may wish to get to this quickly is that once the actuator reaches its limit, it produces an awful clicking sound, a problem that was common with the recently discontinued Hauler set. With this set you have the opportunity to slip a clutch gear into the drive train (the white slipping gear) by replacing one of the two gears provided. This should protect the actuator from making the noise once at its limit as well as reaching for the battery box so quickly.
Some great parts and rare coloured bricks for the collector but not a set I'd recommend for an introduction to the Technic range - get the motorbike instead. "

Swim, Fast!
" Quite a menacing creature once constructed - no wonder the diver has a rather frightened look on their face!
The age range says 7+ and despite her Lego experience, my 5 yr old did struggle with the build sequencing of this set possibly due to the amount of articulation available. There are quite a lot of what I'd describe as technic pieces within the build and these were new to her so please take note of the suggested age range on the box to avoid frustration.
The detail of the set is fantastic with very little missed out. The jaws open quite wide and comfortably hold the key (or the diver) in the sharks mouth, at the same time if you get your finger in there, unlike the real thing, it wont hurt!
There is somthing strange going on with the rear fin though and this is its length, it makes the set rather awkward to put down as it will fall onto one side thus making posing difficult - the solution is just to remove a couple of bricks.
In the end, a really sturdy set with a vast amount of articulation styled in a way that will having the divers swimming away, rather quickly "

The chase is on!
" I was marched to the toy shop soon after buying my Daughter the smallest set in the series to get this "Because it's got a horse". To be honest, i was looking forward to the visit as much as she was. Despite immediately changing her mind and wanting the castle as soon as she saw it on the shelf, we agreed on this set and an ice cream (a good compomise I think).
The set is great. Its construction is set out in smaller parts so first she found it amusing to build the charicters and the horse before moving on to the more complicated carriage. This way we managed to fill a couple of hours with play and construction at the same time.
The set works really well on its own with plenty of role play and action. We were fortunate enough to combine it with the soldiers from the small catapult for even more fun and before long the police turned up as well as the fire brigade and a yellow bus to take them all to jail. As a parent, that alone shows the infinite possibilities of Lego and its universal nature as well as the adaptability of the set.
I'm told were off to the toy shop again in the new year - Great :) "

Great starter set for the Kingdoms Series
" I got this as a treat for my Daughter (5) following a business trip away and it has quickly become somthing much greater than the smallest set in the series.
I wasn't sure if it would take her interest as the Pirates sets failed to grasp her imagination and most of her time is spent with the 'City' theme. It became an immediate success.
She sheer simplicity of the set and the two minifugures (one a goodie and the other a baddy - although i'm informed that they are both friends now!) give loads of play experience and promote evolving play within a childs mind enabling them to think of storylines and act them out.
The other great thing about the Lego 'self themed' sets is that they are much better value for money when compared to themes taken from an external reference such as Harry Potter or the Star wars themes.
In short, a great starter set however Parents beware, within a week we had to go and get more............not that i'm complaining. "

Simply Superb
" Wow, this has to be the best technic motorbike ever. Superbly detailed with panels and a different design of engine connecting rod system.
Suspension works brilliantly and the bike glides across the floor effortlessly. The completed kit is really solid with some fantastic stickers to decorate the panels.
Some really clever build sequences in the construction of the kit.
I'd love to tell you about the B-model but I think I'll have to buy the kit again as i don't intend to take the bike apart!
I think this is going to be on a lot of Christmas lists so get yours soon to avoid disapointment. "

Simply Brilliant
" Another outstanding value for money set. The picture doesn't really show you the scale of the limo, its huge.
The inside of both helecopter and limosine can be easilly accessed with removable tops and are very cleverly detailed with tv, table and glasses.
Rotor blades spin for some time with a good flick.
The only drawback of the set is that the limo doesn't like corners on the lego baseplates, but then who needs roads when you've got a helicopter! 10/10 Lego "

Stylish but...
" The new train station is cleverly detailed and has at last a second platform to allow the doors on both sides of the train to be used - or even a second set of tracks to be added to the outside.
The Taxi takes two minifigures as well as luggage and the shop has a sliding door, a feature I've not seen before. Lots of stickers for decoration and a three-stage build, taxi, platform & footbridge, and shop.
The main feature for me, is the passenger bridge, a great improvement on the stations predecessor.
I do have a couple of con's though;
The platform shop seems to be too small to be of much playable value and my daughters frustration was evident when she struggled to get her hand in to play.
The platforms themselves, although cleverly detailed and laid out, seem to be a little too short for the emerald nights single coach.
Overall I think that the pro's balance out the con's but leave a set which could have been a great deal more if the Taxi were dropped for a larger ticket office or if the set were aimed at the next pricing bracket up.
Please don't let this put you off though, it is still good value for money and for those of you with a bag of spare bricks, you can always build your own ticket office on the other platform. 6/10 "

Make way for the railway
" Great to see the swift return of the Lego Trains as well as a few additional accessories.
The level crossing is a simple set but makes quite a feature to any town layout. The width of the crossing is a little narrower than the road part of the baseplates however it complements them well and doesn't restrict the passing of vehicles over the tracks. The barriers work well and have stiffer pins meaning they only come down when you want them to!
By far the best feature is the track laying machine (which comes in its own numbered bag) with its folding train wheels (which make the road tyres turn in the opposite direction just like the real thing) Expertly detailed with a secure boom arm which can be used for clearing the way and laying the track. Once finished, fold up the wheels and drive off!
Lacking in my opinion a second minifigure however the set is priced fairly although I would have been happy to pay more for an additional feature such as a signal box or even a base plate. 8/10 "

Nice Little Set
" Clear instructions with simple build sequences which complements the assigned age bracket very well, my 5-yr old really enjoyed putting this together with very little assistance - a credit to the instructions.
Loads of minifigure tools and plenty of storage for them on the van. (which means they are less likely to end up in the vacuum cleaner!)
The arm works really well together with the basket and the overall styling is great. Loads of stickers for a set this small so lots of time for decoration after the build and before the play!
You won't be dissapointed. "

Really Versatile
" An essential addition for any keen builders brickbag. There is a massive amount of variety in the windows and doors within the box, enough to build a small house whilst maintaining a similar style.
The set includes windows, doors as well as shutters. It is also a good indicator for using the pick-a-brick part of the website.
For younger builders it opens up the creative mind and starts them thinking ahead in terms of the layout of a building for the position of doors & windows as well as adding a bit of decoration.
A must have. "
