The Farm gets bigger!
" Wow. This one crept in under the Radar.
What an excelent set. Numbered bags again to spread the building over a couple of days. It starts with the pen and the pigs (which I must admit are great) and moves on to the tractor and finally the trailer.
The Pigs really make the set and have become the centrepiece of my daughters farm & town.
If you're thinking of getting your Son or Daughter into Lego then this really is the set you have to start with - not just for the Farm theme (although it complements the other four kits in the theme perfectly)
The trailer has folding sides as well as a tipping action and tailgate, plus the tractor is cleverly detailed ( I think its better than the one you get with the farm! ). All tractors and trailers in the theme can inter-connect so don't worry about compatabilities.
The only element I feel is missing, is a green base-plate on which to contain everything, however these are available on the website in the shop.
I hope that Lego continue this theme as it is great for both Boys and Girls (whereas other themes seem to be aimed more towards boys) as it gets them playing together creatively. Perhaps we may see a Lego Farmhouse soon....? "

To infinity, & Beyond!
" Really cleverly put together. We spread building him over a couple of days (numbered bags again) but in the end and with little help from me, my 5 year old had him in one piece.
A blend of printed bricks and stickers to finish Buzz off and before you know it he's airbourne!
An excelent kit and and well priced at £20. Playability is however limited, especially for younger and heavier handed children who may inadvertantly remove a foot or the wings etc, but if a part does fall off, it tends to stay as a block as opposed to scattering into a dozen or so bricks.
I've not seen the 'joints' before and hope that Lego are going to employ these bricks in a variety of themes as they a very clever. For the keen builder, you are going to want to get the set for these as they offer extension as well as rotation!
As for my Daughter, well Buzz isn't complete without Zurg and so I guess we'll be off to the toy shop to find him before long! "

Great for a quick getaway!
" The key component to this set is the pull back motor and it is quite powerful, perhaps too powerful for the average house.
Building the set is great fun and managable by my 5 year old and having both Buzz and Woody is great for role play.
RC is a cleverly detailed construction however on the first pull back of the motor, it shot off across the room and into the wall, where it promptly disintegrated. We tried a couple of times however each time with similar results.
Buzz is cleverly detailed with a special visor head and wings wheras woody (who strangely came pre-built) has extra-long legs making him tower over regular minifigures.
Lego have the skill to build a set using the pull back motor, check out the Lego Racers if this is what you are after. Sadly it doesn't work with this set. "

Simply Excelent
" What an outstanding set, the best Lego value for money I've come across since starting to write these reviews a little over a year ago.
Bought it for my 5 yr old and she leapt into building it. Some tricky build sequences but with a little help we managed to fill a rainy afternoon putting it together.
The two sets are excelent. First to be built is the fire car which comes in its own bag of parts so the bricks can be contained. This also helps to prolong the build of the whole set putting a natural break between Lego and giving them somthing to play with in the interim (while us 'grown ups' go and do boring things like make lunch!)
The Helecopter is excelenty detailed and the rotors turn really well, crisp and clean and spin for quite a while if given a good spin! The chopper is deceptively large as well so you better clear a spot next to the fire station to park it!
Struggled to get minifigures into the body of the helecopter (despite their being two seats on the stub-wings) but think that this is the only flaw with the set.
Loads of fun to be had for a single set which really promotes creative play for kids on their own as well as in a group. At this price you'd be missing a bargain! "

What a brilliant little set
" There seems to be an awful lot more than 102 peices in this kit. Two booklets of instructions with the figure & wind sock in the first book to keep the younger builders attention on the construction of the kit. Bright colours and clear instructions that really help younger builders to differentiate between the changes in the sequencial building steps.
The sea-plane is excelently thought out with a very clever little store under the wing for the suitcase. The props spin really well with a good blow and the 'floats' glide over the carpet for those fast landings. The set even sits on the floor as a seaplane does with a heavy tail.
A great price, really well styled, great stickers and hours of fun. Well done again Lego. "

Clever Little Digger.
" Straight forward construction with very clear instructions and so building the kit will take a little over an hour. Very cleverly put together, the two wheels at the rear operate the arm and bucket although found that the action of one wheel can alter the position of the mechanism operated by the other making the movement of the arm rather rigid and strained - so be careful not to over-tighten collars on the shafts.
I really enjoy the way that the team that came up with the kit have moved away from the linear actuators and have used linkages and connecting rods to bring the set to life.
The kit is however smaller than I expected and being considerably smaller than its' (sadly now discontinued) larger excavator brother, felt that it is overpriced.
Still, although my personal enjoyment of the kit was shortlived, my daughter on the other hand, will not leave it alone, and in her words "Awww Cool Daddy" and has found a place on her Lego farm for it!
Great for the younger Technic builder. 6/10 "

Pneumatics are back!!!
" Was really pleased to see the return of the Lego Technic Pneumatics and happy that the Power Functions equipment hasn't replaced it as a means of moving things.
The kit is well proportioned with tractor, trailer and jib / arm forming the three main building blocks. Numbered bags so you can get straight into the assembly of the tractor.
Tractor unit has controlled steering utilising one of the new toothed rack blocks. The tractor is more style than functionality with the cab and bonnet being the most detailed parts. - some very clever build sequences though.
The Trailer and grab arm form the remainder of the build. The kit is rigid and once constructed is very strong. The Pneumatic controls are easy to operate and are extremely powerful with the action of the arm being stronger than that of the huge crane truck (lifting heavy objects with the grab will turn the trailer over!!!!)
You get a smaller pump with instructions to add in a power functions motor to build a compressor. A great asset to have however a little wasted I feel on a set of this flexibility as it can make control difficult - stick with the manual pump.
I do feel however that the kit is missing the final piece which would have gained it top marks in my mind; I would have quite happily paid a little more to have a smaller pneumatic actuator to open and close the grab.
In summary, if you haven't had a go with Pneumatics before then I urge you get this set, it is a joy to build and to use. If you enjoy the Power Functions Elements but want a bit more 'push' then you're going to need Pneumatics!! 8/10 "

A Masterpiece
" Lego has done it again and this time it's massive. Agreed its rather pricy but take into account the amount you get, it is justifiable.
Building it will take a full day and that includes the couple of hours you will need to sort out the 28 bags of bricks (un-numbered sadly). Construction starts with the massive gearbox at the centre of the set and in true technic style, then goes on to build a series of sub-components which come together (several hours and four building instruction books later) to form a huge construction piece.
For the younger builder this will promote hours of fun once the set is complete. The crane arm is robust and will lift a fair amount. The outriggers are great and are not just for show as they will help you lift at greater reaches. The set is extremely well detailed with working V8 engine beneath the lift-up cab.
For the builder who wishes to improve and add on there is plenty of scope to improve the set. A quick modification to the rear and you have a point to which you can attach a home made trailer. If you have some lights for the power functions system, get them out and light the set up!
For the builder who wishes to use the components to build bigger and better, this set is packed full of useful components as well as Lego technology such as the dual powershaft through the centre of the lift arm turntable (yes the actuators are powered independently). The gearbox design is a masterpiece as is the proportional front wheel steering system.
It does in my view lack the ability to drive itself and I'm sure that some builders may compare the set to the motorised bulldoser (on price) which was remotely controlled. If however you are willing to live without the V8 and some of the styling within the cab there is ample room for another large motor to power the rear diferential using the existing powershaft. There is also room for a small gearbox and small motor that can control the steering. Run this through an infra-red receiver and you have a powered & steerable crane truck.
In summary, this set is not for the faint hearted and I wouldn't recommend it as an introduction for the Technic theme. If however you are looking for a building challenge, plus some great playability and the ability to add-on and improve to your own design, then look no further than the crane truck. 9/10. "

clever but....
" A clever little kit. More styling than function but a good starter if you are looking to try your first technic set and are on a budget. The tractor is to a similar scale as the miniture bulldoser and telehandler so as a trio you can start your own construction site!
The B-model is a motorbike and you get the instructions with the kit so there's no downloading needed! Actually preferred the bike as a display kit to the main model.
