Simple fun
" A good entry level set for the farm. Simple to construct with bold colours however looks a little lost next to the Combine Harvester. Would have paid more if it had a trailer and am pleased that the set does include the coupling to hitch one on. A great simple gift for a bithday.
Am also really pleased that Lego have started to release more sets that are for both young boys and girls, my daughter spent a good couple of hours playing with the farm sets she has with other children, wheras the 'space' lego doesn't really hold her interest. Keep up the good work. "

A new benchmark for Lego
" It's hard to determine where to begin this review. This set will put a smile on your face for the many hours you spend putting it together. If this is an insight into what it so come from Lego in the future then I can't wait to see what is next.
The detail that has gone into the intricate features simply have to be seen to be belived.
I'll start with the locomotive. Firebox, runningboards, steam lines, steering front and rear bogies, simulated pistons. The architecture of the engine is stunning, somthing that i'm sure the great engine designer Sir Nigel Gresley would have dreamed of. The use of almost every small element in the Lego arsenal has been put together to create somthing that I'm sure will be written into Lego history. The standard kit comes with a variety of technic elements cleverly consealed within the sleek lines of the set which beautifully displays the bringing together of regular and Technic Lego. A masterpiece.
The tender and resteraunt car are again beautifully detailed, extremely well furnished and look more like scale models than a Lego set. The tender looks fit for purpose with it's eight wheels on twin bogies giving the impression that it is very heavy.
The beauty of the set is brought out even more by the rich colours and the fine quality stickers.
The instructions follow a Technic theme with component lists and sub-assemblies and the only frustrating part of the set would be the uncertainty of the colours in the instructions, black looks like a dark stone colour and so I did spend some time looking for components that were the wrong colour. I'd suggest a pre-sort of parts before building the Locomotive and the numbered bags help. I'm also pleased to see at last a box that isn't twice the size it needs to be!
In summary, by far the best Lego set I've built and this will indeed set a new benchmark for Lego in terms of expectations! Go and buy it, you will not be disapointed.
One suggestion for Lego - think it would be a good idea to release additional carriages as individual sets so as people could expand their Emerald Night? "

Really brings your sets to life
" If you are going to get the Excavator or Cherry picker, you simply have to get this. You can get most of the main elements seperately now such as lights, motor, switch and battery box but the part you need is the little white slipping/clutch gear which will protect your linear actuators - which I wish you could buy individually! Build big and you will need this.
" The Power Functions equipment come with a short lead which, if you plan the model out correctly, you can set up to make quite a distance between the motor and the battery box. If you are going to build big, you may need this especialy if you have a motor out on a limb such as up a mast or jib. Well worth having for you collection. "

POWEEEEEEERRRRRR.
" What a mighty motor, it'll pull a house down, well, not quite but it's the most powerful motor I think that Lego have ever produced. Got two with the motorised Bulldoser (8275) and bought another to help add motive power to the giant 4x4 Off Roader (8297) - which can be done. The motor generates quite a lot of torque so to protect your set would strongly advise using the slipping/clutch gear or a belt drive and wouldn't recommend this motor with the linear actuator unless you can be sure you can protect it.
ADVISE; If you buy one, you are going to want more, and more, and more POWER!!! "

If you get one, You'll want more!
" This is one of those Gadgets that once you have one, you will find more and more uses for it and like me, will end up buying more of them. They clip together quite easilly to form a console, infact, clipping two together feels better in the hand than just one as they are smaller than I anticipated. With new batteries range is in excess of 20m (60 feet). With the Power Functions system you can control up to 8 elements (be they motors or lights) on the 4 channels provided if you have the right amount of receivers. Each Remote can operate on one channel at a time so if you want Ultimate Control, you'll end up getting four of them.
HOWEVER. Noticed that there is a new IR remote out which has rate control (aparently you can control the motor speed now) so does that make this unit obsolete???????? "

A must have to bring your sets to life
" You get 4 channels with the Power Functions IR system. Each channel can control two motors from the remote (8885) so if you are thinking of putting loads of power in a set you're working on (up to 8 motors), you're going to need some of these. Really simple to add into your models and power functions system. Would suggest purchasing along with the Power Functions Motor Set (8293). Notice from the new controllers (see Themes-Trains-Accessories) that you can incorporate rate control through the same IR reciever so I hope to see the Power Functions system spreading out throughout more Lego themes. This realistic go kart with functioning steering and piston is a challenging build that will keep your builder busy for hours! 2 in 1 model rebuilds into Riding Lawn Mower! Go-Kart measures over 6" (15cm) long

Not Bad, a great introduction to Technic
" Liked the set and would suggest it as a starter or introduction to Technic. Steering system is simple and turning circle is quite wide but responsive. Like the engine at the rear - just like the real thing. Wish Lego would bring back the Technic Figures as this would work really well at this scale. Rebuilds into a lawnmower, which is really good and again, would work well with the Technic Lego Figures! "

A must have
" No Lego City is complete without the Police Helecopter and this is the best one in the last 25 years I know of. The set builds really easilly, my 4 year old had few problems putting it together. The rotors fit really well on their mounts and are very free moving, give the main rotor a good spin and it will turn for quite a while. The tail rotor spins up with a good blow. Loads of features and stickers to dress up the model. The minifigure is a little awkward to get in and out but this has been thought of by giving the main blades hinges at the hub. A must have for all Lego Cities. "

 LEGO Pirates - Cannon Battle
LEGO Pirates - Cannon Battle
The pirate has found a treasure map, but the soldier wants it too! BOOM! The firing cannon blasts the wall to pieces. Will the soldier get the map, or does the pirate have a tricky plan to escape? Includes soldier, pirate, treasure map, sword and musket! Fire the pull-action cannon and blast the break-away wall to pieces! Rebuild and fire again!

Really good!
" You get quite a bit for under £4. A good introduction for the new series of Pirate Lego although be prepared to loose the cannonballs as the cannon has quite a range! The wall will fall apart when struck with a direct hit and the Pirate doesn't like it either! If you have a Lego Horse the kit can be rebuilt into a horse and trap quite easilly. "
