Awesome buy for a pull-back racer
" I was a bit reluctant at first with purchasing yet another pull-back racer with nothing else operational except pulling it back, but being a Technic collector I buy all the sets released. I just got around to assembling the Police Interceptor, and intercepts galore it will do with the fast motion of the pull-back motor.
I have found in the past couple of years that the pull-back racers line are more fleshed out with panel fairings and some fun, vivid colors. The build was actually a lot of fun, and white and lime color scheme is perfect together. Yes, there are a lot of small panels that require precision when applying the stickers, especially for those of us with large hands and fingers, but the finished product looks great and is larger than I imagined it would be, not only using the pull-back function, and it really moves, even over bumpy carpet. It is rather like an SUV style. The stickers really set it off.
I also used the ramps supplied by this year's set#'s 42058 and 42059 pull-back sets, and it flies off of them. I had just a little trouble getting the round stickers for the circular plates that fit onto the wheel axles to be perfectly applied, but I believe it would be tough for anybody. However, it doesn't detract from the display or play value at all.
Highly recommended buy for not only the age range it is meant for, but for the AFOL's in all of us Lego Technic fans. "

A great mid-size motorcycle
" Always a fan Technic motorcycles, the 42036 LT1 delivers. This particular motorcycle comes from a long line of motorcycles produced every few years and in my opinion the best since the eclectic 8420 produced in 2005. So, let's start with the features. The LT1 features a V-4 engine, which is great for a cycle of this size, and I really enjoy the mini chain links that Lego introduced in 2015 in both the Street Cycle as well as for the drive in the 42035 Mining Truck's engine, and they work well at joining the engine output to the rear wheel of the cycle. They are a little bit hard on the fingers when joining them, but with any tracked vehicle or the smaller links in this cycle, they can be a pain to join a lot of them at once. But, they fit around the 16-tooth gears perfectly with no slipping on the gear teeth. The large shock absorbers on the front are a welcome addition. I also love the interesting angles that the beams take to from the frame and the body panel fairings that attach finish off the great looks of the LT1. At first I wasn't crazy about the colour scheme of red and medium blue, but the colours really grew on me and I love the sleek look of the finish fairing panels and flex axles along with the flex hoses used under the seat pointing out the rear are an excellent touch for a cycle at this price point. A very highly recommended set for any motorcycle enthusiast. "

A strange looking, but really cool machine
" The Arctic Truck is a very different looking type of model, but a great model nonetheless. This set caught my eye and having collected every Technic set since 2003, I had to buy it. The price point is actually very good for this set if you can buy it at retail price. The features of this model are 4-wheel (or I should say tracked assembly) fully independent suspension complete with shock absorbers and hubs, track assemblies that turn via hand of god steering on the top of the cab, a very cool linkage between the front and back portion of the model, a dump bed that can be manually raised and a simple, but effective crane to lift the barrel into the truck's bed. The crane could have been improved in terms of length of travel of the arm of the crane, I believe it was just an afterthought by the designers of the model. It also features a very detailed and large front cabin. My major complaint is the turning of the front track assemblies via the HOG steering, it is hard to turn the tracked assemblies and unless you play with on carpet or other traction-type surface the tracks will not move. Also, it contains 96 of the large track pieces in black color instead of the up until the release of this model dark grey tracks. The orange color really makes the arctic truck pop and it contains many new and interesting connector pieces and pin/axle pieces. The alternate model tracked pickup is also a worthy model to build. The instructions for this model are available for download from the Lego Shop@Home website. All in all, a recommended set if you can still find it. "

A wonderful, full-featured off-roader
" I have always been a fan of Technic's large off-roaders and supercars, the 42037 Formula Off-Roader may be a medium-sized model, but has all the features of a much more pricey car or truck set. You get 4-wheel fully independent suspension with tie rods, steering links, ball joints. CV joints, shock absorbers and wheel hubs, along with an in-line 4-cylinder engine linked to a driveshaft going to a rear differential that drives the rear wheels. It is a great education for young builders to learn the mechanics of a real car/truck. I happen to be a fan of the lime color, and it blends perfectly with the contrasting medium blue body panels. Be warned, the set has a LOT of stickers, but without applying them the model looks rather plain. If applied correctly, they should stay put for a long time as the stickers seem to be of good quality. Also, in comparison to looking at the set box, the 42037 is much larger than one would think when assembled. The alternate model also is a very handsome racing vehicle, but some of the stickers end up upside down and look odd. If you can pick up another set to build the alternate model, it looks better without stickers on some of the panels. This set is being discontinued and at the time of review is out of stock on the Lego Shop@Home website. If you can find one for retail price I'd snap it up, Lego's designers did a magnificent job on this model. "

A great little helicopter
" Being a fan of aircraft and owning every Technic aircraft set released by Lego in the past 14 years, I have to say this is a great example of an ultralight. Although I've only flown an ultralight plane before and never having been in an ultralight heli, I am familiar with the mechanics of ultralights. This entry-level Technic set is for beginners and children to enter the world of Technic and aviation. This small set has a lot going for it in terms of a 2-cylinder engine, quite a few axles with gears going to the top rotors and rear rotor behind the cabin, and the color scheme is perfect. The set is very interesting and appealing to both the eye, but also just screams, buy me and build me. Swooshing it around and turning the gear knob to engage the rotors is loads of fun for both children and to adult fans alike. I highly recommend this set and at the price point you get a lot of bang for $20. "

An awesome beginner Technic set
" The Roadwork Crew is a great entry-level set into the world of Technic for younger children. I tend to collect every set released by Lego and this set does not disappoint. It is a rather simple construction, but as always with Technic you have to watch how you place gears, connectors, etc, as you go to make all geared assemblies work as you progress. I found the build to be very simple, and sometimes it isn't always about the much larger models. Some of my favorites happen to be small to medium sets. First you make the dump truck, complete with a gear operated lifting dump bed, then the very simple trailer for the small excavator to fit on after the job is done for the day. The truck is a lot of fun to build, and the excavator is of great design for the smallest excavator that Technic has ever seen. It works all by gear knobs and turncranks and I am very impressed with the bucket arm's reach when extended. Additionally, the orange color (my favorite piece color) really makes the truck and excavator stand out. I am really glad Technic is using more orange in their construction equipment sets more and more now. A great display piece but also very playable, and leaves children with only their imagination to create something else out of the same pieces. Brilliantly done Lego! "

Another great pull-back racer set
" This is a great addition to the winter 2017 Technic collection and being a long-time fan of the pull-back racer sets this set does not disappoint. I had a lot of fun building this model, they don't take long to build, but offer hours of fun. The stunt truck uses a pull-back motor attached to the rear axle and pulling it back winds the motor and upon letting it go, it is propelled very quickly forwards. My cats love watching it go, they are quite intrigued. I love the light blue color scheme, and they are great for kids (or middle=age adults in my case) to learn the basic mechanics of Technic and the many small parts that need to be assembled. The other great thing about this set and others from the past is that you can buy another corresponding set, and combine the sets to build a larger, even more powerful pull-back racer. In this case if you purchase the 42058 Stunt Bike, you can create a 6-wheeled model that uses both pull-back motors and is not only eye-catching and colorful, but it just adds to the fun. The only thing you would need to do is download the combined building instructions from the Lego website onto a computer, laptop or tablet and they are crystal clear and easy to follow. Another great addition to this year's pull back racers is the a ramp for the models to launch from. A nice touch by Lego designers. "

Not really worth the high price tag
" Although the service truck has a sleek look, it just doesn't deliver for the high price, I would think possibly $100 would be fairer. Compare it to the #8109 Flatbed Truck with wheel lift from year 2011. That was $89 USD and although smaller in size, but the same scale as this Service Truck, it had many features similar to this truck, just without a useless, in my estimation, crane arm. I don't like the fact that as you raise the crane arm and hook onto a vehicle with the wheel lift, the wheel lift raises much too high. However, the alternate model truck with the grappler and trailer is the best use of this set,, BUT then you have to download or print (and most of us don't have room to build in front of our computers) 299 pages. Its too bad Lego doesn't include alternate instruction manuals in larger sets any longer. 299 pages is kind of over the top as most pages just have steps involving only very few parts unlike the main model instructions where the manuals offer steps with many parts to attach, thereby reducing the manuals to much less pages as opposed to the alternate model instruction 'manuals'. A nice addition to the construction vehicle lineup
" Wow, impressive model. The new mini Backhoe/Loader is quite impressive for its compact size. It is part of the new end of 2012 Technic lineup. It compares to its big brother, the 8069 Backhoe/Loader, except its smaller and while it has nearly all the functions as the 8069, for the price it is well worth it. All functions are there, all controlled by gear knobs for raising and tilting the front shovel, and raising/lowering and turning the angle of the rear backhoe shovel, including the steering which is controlled from the top of the cab. I immediately purchased it once it became available and I'll say it is worth it. Only thing that could have made it better is a set of stabilizer feet on the rear when using the back shovel and a set of slightly larger tires/rims on the rear of the vehicle, but for the price point these things can be overlooked. Definitely a must have for Technic fans and younger children and teens. "

Nice racer compared to others released
" I have to admit, even as a fan of much more large, technical vehicles that I was rather intrigued by this racer. The pull-back motor is new to Lego and it is really quite fun to watch it fly when you pull it back and let it go. I wasn't sure how it would work, but it is interesting to watch and is quite impressive. I also like the color scheme and black wheels/rims, it just screams buy me especially at the price point. Only drawback is not steering, but I suppose with the pull-back function, it isn't meant to, it looks cool just sitting on a shelf. Being only 4 models new to the first half of the year for Technic, usually in years past we get a medium sized set released around Christmastime as well, I felt it was a good buy. it is must have and highly recommended for younger children as well.
