"Please make more of these. Its pretty much the perfect lego kit. Big and impressive on display. Extremely well designed. Quality throughout (no stickers!). Challenging and interesting to build.
And it is even inspiring. My 8 year old is now full of questions about the moon landing and space exploration. Science is cool.
"I'll echo the rest here in saying this is just an excellent kit. Very challenging to build and extremely satisfying to finish.
Everything is well thought out, from the packing to the instructions to the build. The option of using the Force Awakens or Orignal Trilogy details is really nice. The interior elements are really well done, and there is a whole interior section left open that will give amateur MODers something to work with.
I've never been so sad and happy at the same time when I finally finished it.
Its big- so make sure you have a place for it. I put mine in a case to keep the dust away since I have no intention of taking this one apart again!"
"One of the very best UCS sets. Interesting to build and looks fantastic on display.
I would put this just below the Slave 1 for a UCS at this price level. What keeps it below the Slave is the use of soooo many stickers. And while the Slave looks great without the stickers, this model needs them to look complete. Worse, the 'white' stickers are not quite the same colour white as the bricks, which makes them look a bit odd with close inspection.
Still, this is a minor complaint. Overall I am extremely happy with this kit and would highly recommend it to any collector or Star Wars fan."
"A great kit that fans of the new movie and the original series will love.
It's a pretty quick build, but a solid one. The angles are all correct and it finally looks very close to the move version. I really like how well hidden the shooters are. It's a good size too and a great alternative to the now wildly expensive USC version.
Two criticisms- the AT-ST should have two pilots and there was room to do that. You can find instructions on-line to redo the cockpit in a simple MOD. But there MOD is so simple you really have to wonder why they didn't just include it in the first place.
And as others have said, you can't pose the legs at all.
Despite that it's a great kit. Good model, nice minifig collection."
"This is a massive improvement over the previous lego version and a top level entry into the UCS line. Yes the end result is a big brown box, but for fans of the original movie, this is a must have.
The construction is challenging, make a mistake early on and you will need to take the whole thing apart and start again (which I I did!). There are lots of interesting technics for the cranes, doors, ramps and wheels. They have also done a great job recreating the angles of the crawler. The end result looks fantastic.
Nice collection of minifigs gives this plenty of play value and the whole thing manages to create something that gives kids loads to do. My 7 year old has been spending hours and hours with this.
To me they have hit exactly the right balance between a UCS and a play kit. It doesn't come across like a 'dollhouse' unlike some kits (Death Star I am looking at you) so you can display this next to your other USC kits- but still gives loads a fund for kids when you take it down from the shelf.
Negatives- the interior could be a bit cleaner. The technic elements are very visible. A bit more detail on the bridge would be nice. But these are small things. This is a fantastic kit. Get it before it retires."
"A very satisfying purchase. Just tricky enough to build to keep kids and Dad's interested. A nice collection of minifigs and a finished product that looks good on display and is a great for play, with a fantastic interior..
A surprisingly solid build as well. You can swosh this around a bit which is pretty impressive for a kit of this size with so many moving parts. A real improvement over the last falcon.
Not many negatives, but I was not happy with the landing gear- not much though put into that at all. I would have appreciated a round radar dish so you could swap it with the rectangle depending on which scene you are recreating. And I would have liked a big more detail in the gunner stations.
Overall though this hard to fault. OTS fans and new fans will love it. If you don't have a falcon you will be pretty happy getting this one. Strongly recommended."
"A really interesting take on the tie design. The kit is a good build, with just enough tricky bits to keep it satisfying. I particularly appreciated the multi-colours used in the base build, which all ended up cleverly hidden. The finished product is a good size, the wings give it an appropriately imposing look and the mini-figures included are good. Its also a very solid build. You can swoosh this around without fear, or leave it as a display piece. Besides the AT-ST I think this is the best of the new releases- and probably one of the best of any of the non-UCS star wars kits. Hope this ship gets lots of screen time in the film.
Downsides- not crazy about the placement of the shooters. They kind of look stuck on as an after thought. Price is also bit up there. I got mine at a local Lego store with a 30% discount. Without that reduction the kit ought to have come with an exclusive mini figure or something to justify the price per piece count."
"Hard to fault how this looks when you have finished it. Impressive, solid, detailed, basically everything a UCS should be. I am glad I have it. It goes really well with the other UCS's I have.
What holds back the 5th star is how easy this was to put together. I like UCS's to be a bit of a challenge, and this was really not any more complicated than the 8-14 sets- its just bigger.
But if you are a fan of the original movies its a must buy."
"This was one of the better sets I bought recently. The build was interesting and challenging enough to keep my son engaged for a full afternoon. The result looks terrific. I am particularly happy with how they create the head- keeping all those angles in place and making it solid. If they can replicate that on the next AT-AT it will be great. Love how the shooters stay hidden. MiniFigs are good too.
My only disappointment is in the legs. Without any articulation they do take away some of the fun and play potential this model has. They could have done a bit more detailing on the back as well.
But still, I really enjoyed this build - its too bad it's been retired."
"Pros: This is the best looking A-Wing lego has produced. Fun to build, fun to swosh around. Its a quality model that can be displayed as well as played with. This is also probably the best Vader Tie that Lego has produced (not including the UCS). Also fun to build, solid for display and great for playing. The minifigures are superb too.
Not so Pro: The A Wing is a bit sticker happy. I know the prints cost more, but this is not a cheap set to buy. Would have liked to have seen less stickers and more prints. The Vader tie also uses those inverted circle tiles on the inside front. A very strange choice.
Cons: The price. At nearly .13 a piece, this is an expensive set for the # pieces you get."
