Diabolical Good Fun!
" My son is a massive Lego Batman fan, especially when it comes to the video games. So when he discoverd the opportunity to pick up some of the Lego Batman sets, he couldn't wait to get them home and build them. The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape was definitely one of the most anticipated. Before I talk about the overall set, I want to mention that this set is one of the most played with sets we have at our house. The colorful characters and wide array of action pieces make this a favourite with the kids for imagination play.
The set's main feature is a twisted fun house that features a trolly car that smashes through Joker's face, a crazy mallet for booting good guys, a topsy-turvey table, a hidden trap door, and an acid filled barrel! Each of these little action-sequences is really nicely built (I loved the mallet one the best) and can be unleased upon the good guys and the bad guys. On the lower level, Riddler has a little hideout, while it appears the Joker would rather reign over the whole show from the upper levels. The overall build of the funhouse doesn't take too long, although there are a fair number of hinges and rotating parts. We felt the funhouse could have been a little sturdier in the end (it is quite high and narrow), but it holds up pretty well during play.
The two vehicles that come with this set are Batman's crawler cycle and the Joker's crazy train cart. Batman's crawler is a chunky motorcycle that has a really nice look to it as it zooms across the tabletop. It is chunky and solid, with great bat-fins jutting out of the back. The train cart is a simple little square builld, but works really well on the train track connected to one side of the fun house. We found that the two swinging Joker doors that the cart is supposed to bash through were kind of touchy, often not opening very much or just coming off at the base. They are attached to the rail by one a few studs on one side.
The collection of characters in this set is great. You get Batman and Robin, who look great. And then the villians Joker, Riddler, and Harley Quinn. My personal favourite is Harley Quinn with her fantastic hat, but my son loves the Joker and his crazy hair. The Riddler has a neat hat a little question-shaped crowbar. By including five of the main Batman characters, this set can really stand alone for playing. The Joker, Riddler, and Harley can come up with all sorts of terrible tricks to play on the dynamic duo!
Overall, this is one of our favourite Lego sets of any category for playing. The set itself is not as beautifully crafted as some others, but that seems to be counterbalanced by its great personality. "

" My son absolutely loves Lego Batman, especially from playing the video games. So we grabbed him Catwoman Catcycle City Chase and he now has another awesome rogue to add to Batman's gallery of baddies. The set itself is one of the smaller Batman sets, containing mainly the glider Batman and Catwoman with her motorcycle. The glider suit for Batman is a simple build, but a nice variant from the caped others we had in our collection. The Catwoman motorcycle is very similar to some other chunky Lego bikes, in that is has few pieces once you get the large shell in place. The traffic light and street corner are nice little pieces that could enhance any city-based Lego set, but I am confused as to why there are so many brown boxes. A good chunk of the set's overall count is made up of these boxes, when I am not sure they add a whole lot of play options. Overall though this is a nice and simple set that has two great characters. The glider Batman is a nice one to have, and Catwoman is an iconic figure in the Batman mythos. "

Augment Your Castle Experience
" The Forest Ambush set is the smallest set in the latest Lego Castle line. It features a small cart carrying a treasure chest, and a clever little forest attack post. The cart has very few pieces, really only containing the wheels and a basic surface on which to attach the treasure chest. The attack post has a few more pieces, formed out of two trees and a rock wall. One of the trees falls, creating a barricade; a neat little feature. The set does contain 4 great soldiers, two from the King's forces and two from the Dragon's forces, so that is a definite plus for the set overall. Their accessories are also simple, but they each have helmets and weapons. Overall this is a nice set to help build up your other Lego Castle sets. The number of characters plus the inclusion of another chest can really add to the play possibilities. "

The Tastiest Treats in Town!
" The Lego Friends City Park Cafe is a fantastic addition to the Lego Friends universe. The model is highly detailed and features an indoor and outdoor eating area, a food service/preparation area, and a cash register. It also has an amazing number of accessories that help make play that much more dynamic. I purchased this set for my daughter, and this set always features prominently among other Friends sets.
The model itself has really interesting features, not the least of which is the curved roofline. The colour choices are fantastic, and gives the whole set a classic diner feel. Two of our favourite features are the milkshake serving machine and the gumball dispenser! The patio section is detached and can be added to some of the other free-floating Friends playsets to create great common areas.
A beautiful set with lots of variety and a fantastic look! "

Pursuit Madness!
" The City Police Pursuit set is a nice little addition to the cops and robbers segment of the Lego City experience. I bought this for my son because he loves the Lego jeeps and trucks. The two vehicles are small in scale, which makes them perfect for racing around in little hands. Both models are also quite sturdy, so they hold up really well during play.
The truck is a nice compact model, with a neat little hiding space in the back. The big wheels and high base make it feel like a real off-road truck, which can be used for all sorts of play scenarios that do not include running from the police. The ATV is a pretty simple model that is a nice compliment to any other police vehicles that you might have. Great for those off-road pursuits!
Overall this is a nice little set with an immediately playable concept and great vehicle design. Definitely a nice addition to any Lego City collection! "

Fantastic Fun with Pets!
" The Cat's Playground is a nice little set that plays well with other Lego Friends sets. The highlight is the cat model, as pets are one of my daughter's favourite parts of the Lego Friends world. The playset itself is actually pretty big and detailed for the price of the set, and the addition of the fish is a bonus! My daughter cozies this set up to Olivia's House, and it makes for a great backyard play area for the Lego Friends and Pets alike! "

The Game is On!
" Stephanie's Soccer Practice is one of the better small Lego Friends sets. My daugher loves soccer and Lego Friend's, so this set was a bit of a no-brainer to purchase. The set has quite a few separate elements that can be arranged any way you wish, but we attached it to a smaller green baseplate we had from older Lego sets. This created a nice soccer field. The goal and soccer kicker are nice play elements, and the bench is great for those strategic huddles before the big game. That water cooler looks fantastic! The addition of the puppy is a nice little feature, as my daugher loves all the pets included with the Friend's sets. Overall this is a really great set that sees lots of play at our house. "

A Party Fit for Your Best Friends!
" Stephanie's Outdoor Bakery is a nice little Friend's set that is simple to build but adds lots of options for play with other sets. My daughter loves to have these little accessory sets to help expand her larger sets. She sets up Stephanie's Outdoor Bakery just outside her Soccer Practice so everyone can have a delicious snack after practice! The details in this set are nice, although some elements are replicated a few times through other Friend's sets. The umbrella is a favourite element that seems to get moved around to other sets as well! "

The Hulk is Big and Bad!
" We purchased the Hulk for my son, who loves most of the Avengers related sets from Lego. He didn't have as much fun putting this together as a regular Lego set, and perphaps it is simply because of the type of building in the Hero Factory sets. The model produced is very sturdy, and large like the Hulk should be. The armored pieces look a little out of place, and chest area could have been designed better. Overall this is a decent set, but I don't think the Hero Factory sets are a new love at our house! "

Looks Good and Plays Great!
" The Cement Mixer is a fantastic addition to any Lego City collection. It is a very well designed set that looks excellent and is very fun to play with. The tipping front end makes it possible to take the truck in for repairs, and the cement mixer action is stellar for construction play. When my son and I put together the mixer components, I was really amazed at how Lego designed the pieces to work together to so well. The turning mechanism and cement drum work perfectly to churn out the little cement nodules. The shute at the end of the drum allows you to direct the cement into the handy wheelbarrow with ease! My only complaint is that sometimes I find the cement mixer drum comes loose from the turning mechanism after playing for a while, but that is easily remedied with a firm push on the rotation point. Overall this is a really nice set that has some really innovative features that really enhance play. "
