"This Bag End set is visually stunning and a must have for any Hobbit or Lord of the Rings fan. The outside looks PERFECT, absolutely perfect with the adorable flowers and the bench...the door is awesome- I am so glad it is a printed piece. I just love the detail on the inside of the set, the kitchen the table, the sword, the shelves, books, and the MAPS ugh. So good! There are lots of figures in this set, making the playability great. Once you add in figures from your collection, you can recreate scenes from LOTR and Hobbit! I am thrilled with this set- it is my favourite from the first wave of the Hobbit. If I was going to buy one set from the Hobbit wave, I would get this one because it is a key set for any fan of Tolkien. Peace out! :)"
"This set is one of my favourites from the first Hobbit wave. I really recommend you get this set, especially after seeing the movie! I love everything about this set from the colour scheme (a nice break from a lot of greys and black) to the unique pieces (barrels!) to the mini figures. The playability of the set is really nice, it is durable, transportable, and very accurate to the story line of the scene. The look of the set when displayed is interesting (I love the stairs) but my favourite part is the figs. The elves are very neat and a great addition to a collection. The outfits are accurate to the film, and I especially like the drunk face on the red elf! Of course, this set is worth buying to collect the dwarves- I still love the beard pieces and the rarity of each of them being in only one set. It is nice to not have so many doubles :) I think the set is excellent value- there is so much playability and value in it. BUY IT!!!!"
"So happy I got this set! Dol Guldur Battle is an awesome piece for any fan of the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings. The price point is a little high (or seems it- 11c/piece) but the set is visually impressive and great to play with! One of the greatest parts is the accuracy to the movie and the play features. There is plenty of ways to play with the set, and it is durable when moving around and positioning in different places. There are a lot of stickers you have to apply yourself- personally I don't mind but other people might! The building process is fun and requires attention, and the set does not take long to assemble for a larger one. The only flaw in the set is you can't stand Gandalf up in the hanging cage, like in movie (you can if you sit him down). The mini figures are INCREDIBLE! I just died when I saw them all lined up. I can't say which one is my favourite.... a battle between Radagast and Azog (no pun intended!) The detail and accuracy of each figure is mind-blowing, especially Azog. I am so happy LEGO gave us some really cool figures in this set! If you have any doubts about purchasing this set, throw them away. Dol Guldur Battle is a set every LEGO fan must have! Peace out! :)"
"I think this sweet set is worth buying- for sure! I received this yesterday as a gift, and it was a great present! It is a quick, easy, enjoyable build worth buying for the mini figures alone. THE BUILD: I think the set itself is great. I like the look of it when added onto Dol Guldur Battle, but it looks great by itself as well. There are a few functions that are great for a small set like this one. Though the colour scheme is mostly grey, you do get a few interesting bricks and pieces. THE MINIFIGS: ..............Hands down the best part of the set. The minifgs make the set worth buying! BEORN! Beorn's headpiece is so unique and accurate, I can't even describe it. After seeing the movie, I completely fangirled when I saw the figure! Everything from the hair to the face to the clothing print was so accurate. The $25 for this set is worth it because of Beorn. The Gundabad orcs are also cool, as this set can be used as an army builder in the Hobbit line. I love their new colour and especially their shoulder plates with the fangs/spikes. Awesome. In conclusion, if you have any doubts about this set, buy it because Beorn makes it worth it. The orcs are also great to add to your mini fig army! Peace out! :)"
"I just finished putting together the Pirate Ship Ambush and I definitely recommend purchasing it! I am not a huge pirate ship fan and wanted the ship for the minifigures (4 exclusive ones) and to complete this LOTR wave, but once I had it I loved it! There is a ton of detailing on the ship, mostly on the inside of the ship, and I think there are some really cool play features. I especially love the prison cell for the Pirate of Umbar and I think the ship looks fantastic. The price per piece is pretty high ($0.13 per piece) but I think it is because of the 9 mini figures and some of the large pieces, but I think the ship is totally worth 100 dollars. GO BUY IT!!!!!!!"
"I love the Hobbit, and I had to have it to complete the collection. I do really like this set- there are lots of really cool elements, but it is definitely my least favourite. The mini figures are awesome- they always are with LEGO, but I don't like the trees themselves. It is a small set, but I am not a fan of the trees. I really like the falling tree function, and the webs and nets, but I think the trees could have been done better. I built the first tree, but the second tree piece I used for parts. The main draw is the mini figures, Legolas with the exclusive print and exclusive Tauriel, Fili and Kili (so far). Overall, I think it is still worth purchasing, but it would not be the set to get right away."
"I am extremely excited for July 1st! As a HUGE LOTR fan, this is the ultimate LEGO set! I have been thrilled with all of the sets for LOTR and the Hobbit so far, but this is definitely the set to rule them all! I am very impressed with the size and amount of detail on the tower itself, and the detailed floors on the other side will make the model very exciting to play with. I can't wait to reenact the downfall of Isengard with Saruman looking down on his balcony, this leads me to my next point. I am VERY excited to finally get an Ent!!! I'm assuming it is Treebeard, and I am very glad they added him to the set. The only possible negative about this set is the orcs- I wish they came with hairpieces or there were more. But that is just being picky. There really isn't anything huge to complain about... My first stop on July 1st will be to the LEGO store!"
"I got this set the day it came out- and I absolutely love it! The mini figures are awesome, especially Saruman with the 3-toned beard and printing. I also loved Gandalf with hair- definitely a better version of him. The set itself was great value for the price. The Palantir with the Eye of Sauron is very cool, and the features included are very accurate to the movie. The set also features some unique pieces such as the yellow globes, which is great to have in any LEGO collection. I would definitely buy this set- WELL worth the money!"
"I purchased the Mines of Moria set recently, and I have to say it is probably one of my favourite sets! I am a HUGE Lord of the Rings fan, and it is the reason I started collecting LEGO. The set is absolutely amazing and I love the minifigures. The Cave Troll is super cool, it is detailed and movie-accurate. All the mini figures in this set are fantastic and very detailed, as well. Also,I loved the functions in this set. The well feature worked extremely well and the falling pillars were a realistic touch when reenacting the battle scene. I also love how detailed the set is, even applying the stickers, they add a very nice touch. This is absolutely a set you should purchase. I believe it is worth the money and I am VERY pleased with my purchase."
