Impressive
" I don’t want to spoil the surprises…there are quite a few…for those who haven’t built this yet. What I will say is…if you are at all on the fence about buying this set, you should do it. I’ve only built one other Modular Building…the Parisian Restaurant…and I think this one has more playability and more value for the money. That’s not to say Parisian Restaurant is bad…in fact, it was my favorite set up until I built this one. I just think Brick Bank tops Parisian Restaurant in a few minor ways. If you haven’t already read through other reviews and you want to remain “spoiler free”, I suggest you stop reading here.
***Spoilers Below***
I just finished building this set and I haven’t yet decided what part of this build is my favorite, but something tells me it will end up being the chandelier. What a nice touch! Other than that, I love the working vault door with stacks of cash inside…the partial spiral staircase leading up to the banker’s office…the alarm buttons hidden behind the teller desk…the one laundry machine which drops money to the bank safe…the alternating green and clear 1x1 plates which create a stained-glass effect…the mini figure pants and washer machine on the front of the laundry shop…the secret entrance to the vault from the chimney…and on and on and on. This set really has it all!
My only complaint…if I had to have one…is with the new “Home Plate” looking tile pieces. I get the idea here, but the pieces don’t line up exactly and it ends up exposing a portion…a small one, but still…of the sand-colored base plate.
In the end, I love this set. I’ve worked for a bank for the past 15 years…never as a teller or even in a branch…but I’ve spent enough time in them to know that this set hits the mark. One of my earliest memories is going to one of the local banks downtown here and seeing a clock which looks almost exactly like the one in the set. Our clock is set on a pole but I think the one in the set actually works better.
Well done, LEGO. And thank you for another great Creator set. I look forward to building more of these Modulars in the future. January 1st, 2017 can’t get here fast enough! "

Winter Wonderland 2015
" Let me start by saying I love this set! I understand the frustration of collectors who already own the previous version. But, the re-release worked to my personal advantage. After building LEGO sets all the time as a kid, I took a long pause from the hobby. Now that I'm back, I'm happy LEGO released a newer version of this set because I didn't want to overpay for the older, retired version.
The look and feel of this set works so well with the other winter sets I own (Santa's Workshop and Winter Village Market). Every year, around this time, I like to stage the sets in a common area of the house. So, this set was a "must have" for me. I enjoyed the building of the set as there were a few techniques I hadn't used before, some of which were challenging to a first-timer but worth-while once complete.
I gave a bad rating to the playability of the set but that's only because I don't build/use my sets for play. That being said, I don't see how a child would be able to do as much with this set as they would with the Toy Machine and Reindeer of Santa's Workshop or the Carousel of the Winter Village Market. So, if playability is your thing, this set probably isn't for you.
I also gave the value for money a 4 out of 5 because of the price increase from last year's set. Sure there are 15 more pieces but there were several points in this build where I felt like the pieces were only added to drive the piece count, and ultimately the price, up. For example, there are 7 white 1x1 plates which are added to the awning at the end. These seemed unnecessary to me.
All in all this is a nice set and is perfect for any collector of the winter sets who doesn't already have the previous version. "

Go…Go…Go!
" The Helicopter Arrest is a great set. It includes a truck (which is pretty much the same truck all the criminals use, but in a different color), sweet speedboat, cool chopper, criminal hideout and five minifigs. The minifigs include two crooks, two cops, and the chopper pilot. I bought this set on sale after the holidays so the value for the money is 5 stars in my case. I gave the play experience a 5 star rating because the speeder is a unique addition and the chopper (which includes some different pieces from the chopper in the Police Station set) has some great features…like the rope which allows the police minifigs to drop into action. I typically only build these and set them up in my city, but I can see youngsters playing with this set for hours. Adding this set to all of my other police-type units, I’m building up quite the police task force in my city! "

Anchors Away!
" The Coast Guard Plane is a nice set. It includes a boat (which supposedly floats, but I didn’t test it out), a sweet sea plane, and three minifigs. The minifigs include an older fisherman, a younger fisherman, and the coast guard pilot. I bought this set on sale after the holidays so the value for the money is 5 stars in my case. I gave the play experience a 4 star rating but it is probably closer to a 4.5 star…especially when you consider the boat actually floats. I typically only build these and set them up in my city, but I was compelled to try the boat in the tub. So I’m sure youngsters will want to check this out. I also think the sea plane would make a great toy for age appropriate youngsters. I’m excited because, after combining this set with the Surfer Rescue set, my Coast Guard Base is starting to come together. "

A Weekend Getaway!
" Don’t let the low price of $19.99 fool you. This set, one of my favorites, is not cheap and is full of worth-while surprises. When I bought it with my Christmas money, I thought it would make a nice addition to the wilderness area of my city (along with the Mountain Hut set). I was surprised to find many features which make this more than just a shelf piece. The camper opens in several different ways, which should allow for great playability. I especially like how the lifejackets and canoe oars can be stowed away in the top of the camper. This makes it so that the camper can go from shelf piece to toy and back again in no time at all. "

Red Light, Green Light!
" I bought this set with my Christmas money. Originally, I was going to wait and add the “Maintenance” vehicles to my city at a later date. But, I decided to get a few of the smaller to medium-sized sets before buying another big set. This one falls on the smaller end of the spectrum but it is still a good purchase. The functioning bucket is a really cool addition. I set this guy up in my city doing light repair just down the block from my “Police Station Prison Break”. Is he an accomplice helping the crooks pull off their prison break? Or, is he just an average, every day repair man in the wrong place at the wrong time? "

Surf’s Up!
" For $6.99, this is a pretty cool set. I was excited to get the Coast Guard Jet Ski, even though I don’t yet have a Coast Guard setup in my city. I’ll just put him aside until I’m ready to build up a Coast Guard Base. The surfer and the shark are cool. I added both off the coast of my Seaside House set. $6.99 is a great price for two unique minifigs and a shark! "

Call For Back-up, Part 2 of 2!
" I added the Mobile Police Unit set to my city on the same day as the Helicopter Surveillance set. When considering price, I actually think the two sets are evenly matched. You will pay more for the bigger HS set, but the MPU is almost as cool and priced better. Both make a great addition to the police force of Legoville, USA! "

Call For Back-up, Part 1 of 2!
" The Helicopter Surveillance set is a great addition to any Lego city. I couldn’t wait to get this one open and build it. I gave this one a four star rating. It would’ve been a five star rating but I don’t like how the rotors wobble and come to a hard stop instead of spinning continuously to a slow stop. Other than that, this piece is flawless. I like the ramp at the back of the chopper and I love the sliding door on the side with rope attachment. I typically only set these up in my city and leave them, but…upon completion…I felt the need to take this in the living room and make gunship noises with my mouth. If the cops at the Police Station have any difficulty tracking down the crooks during/after the prison break, I know who to call for back-up! "

Dynamite!
" This is a nice set. There are a number of pieces I’d never seen before, so that kept the build interesting. Just as I did with the Light Repair Truck, I set these guys up in the area near the Police Station of my city. Are they just doing their every day jobs? Or, are they creating a diversion for the crooks to escape? "
