76053 Batman: Gotham City Cycle Chase
" Batman: Gotham City Cycle Chase is a smallish set of 224 pieces. There are also 4 stickers for those who love to paste them on smooth surfaces. The instructions are divided into two booklets, and "coincidentally" there are two numbered bags of bricks in this set too. I suspect the main attraction of this set are the three minifigures included: Batman, Harley Quinn and Deadshot. It would seem that both this version of Harley Quinn and Deadshot are exclusive to this set, but the Batman minifigure is in three other sets besides this one, at least to date. Batman has dual sided printing on his head and dark grey torso while his legs are unprinted and dark grey. The black cape is made of a softer fabric than the capes I've previously encountered in Lego sets, and it folds nicely. Batman is wearing a his signature cowl, this time in black. Also Harley Quinn has dual sided printing on her head and torso, but her legs are printed as well. She has previously appeared in three other sets and in those her coloring has been red and black, but in this set her colors are red and blue, even down to her dual molded hairpiece. Deadshot has dual sided printing on his red torso but not on his silvery head. However, his red and silver legs have printing on the front, and as a bonus his arms are printed as well.
The first bag is needed to build Harley Quinn and her mainly red and blue bike, but quite surprisingly also Batman. The second bag of bricks contains the pieces for Deadshot and the mostly black Batcycle. The build is probably not too difficult for a normal person, but I had some serious trouble building the Batcycle: I did not pay enough attention to the instructions. I had the back wheel of the bike the wrong way around (the grey parts on top) when I attached the two stud shooter assemblies to the frame and was absolutely flabbergasted when the contraptions would not turn backwards as shown in the instructions. It took me at least two minutes to figure where I had gone wrong, but after that the build was easy to complete. I was again wielding a pair of tweezers, so I'm proud to say that the four stickers (two on Harley Quinn's hammer and two on Batcycle) are only slightly crooked instead of an unwieldy mess.
When playing with the set, I found out that Harley Quinn's bike is a bit wobbly, probably due to the slightly narrower back wheel and the added weight of her over-sized hammer. I also noticed that she can actually stand on her bike and still reach the handlebar, if sitting looks too tame. Batcycle is much steadier on its wheels, and I was glad to find out that there is space on the bike to store Batman's Batarang and his grapple-hook gun. What surprised me was that Batman lies on his stomach when riding the bike, although that is obvious from the pictures of the set. I must've had my eyes closed when I started the build. Deadshot's huge brick-built bazooka might make him less steady if he didn't have his jetpack on him, the jetpack really helps a lot with the balance of the minifigure and he is surprisingly steady on his feet. However, should the need arise to place Deadshot's bazooka in his left hand, some modifications might necessary as the weapon has its sights on the left side. The stud shooters are quite powerful and shoot the 1x1 studs far far away.
As I am not an expert on Batman, and this is only my second Super Heroes set, I couldn't say how accurate the characters and/or vehicles are compared to those in comic books. All I can say that from a layman's perspective this set was a very nice build with three great minifigures and two outrageous motorcycles. My personal favorite is definitely Harley Quinn, but getting my first Batman minifigure really was great, too, although I wish his head had that white band only on one side (so that it would be easier to pose him as Bruce Wayne). I liked this set a lot. "

76058 Spider-Man: Ghost Rider Team-up
" Spider-Man: Ghost Rider Team-up contains 217 pieces and eight stickers, of which one can build 3 minifigures, a motorcycle, a Goblin Glider and a street corner. The minifigures are Spider-Man (dressed in his traditional red and blue attire), Hobgoblin (who is wearing a mainly orange outfit with dark blue shorts and sleeves) and Ghost Rider (who is looking quite dapper in his all-black outfit with some rips and silver chains printed on his torso). All three torsos have printing on both sides, and while Hobgoblin's legs are dual-molded, the other two have plain unprinted leg assemblies. Hobgoblin is also the only one of the trio to have a dual sided head print, and his tattered orange cape and orange hood are both new colors. This is, so far, the only set to include Hobgoblin or Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider's skull-printed white head and the transparent orange flames on top are glued together. Spider-Man's new conical web is also a rare part, and thus far can be found only in two sets (76058 and 76057).
There is only one instruction booklet in this set. The pieces are divided into two numbered bags: the contents of the first bag are used to build Hobgoblin, Spider-Man, Goblin Glider, and the street corner while the second bag has the pieces for Ghost Rider and his bike. The build is not very difficult, but there are a lot of fiddly small bits included, and, if one is not used to building with Tecnhic parts, those sections of Ghost Rider's bike might take a bit longer to complete. I, personally, had some trouble getting the trash can lid to fit on the trash can, and I also managed to make a small mistake with those dreaded Technic parts. The eight stickers were not as troublesome as usual for me, because I was armed with a pair of tweezers and plan on using them in the future, too.
Ghost Rider's menacing black bike is mainly very sturdy and as the tires of the bike are so wide, it is hard to get the bike to fall on its side. The only part that I found to be less than sturdy is the back of Ghost Rider's seat, which came loose in my hand when I adjusted its angle (those friction hinges are indeed frictioney). I also noticed that since there are eight flames attached to various parts of the bike, it can be a bit difficult to get a good grip on it without squishing the flames. Also the Goblin Glider gave me some trouble when I tried to hold it in my hand because the bottom of it is quite smooth, which can make the flick-missiles a little hard to use. I found it easiest to hold the glider from its silvery engine/exhaust pipe. The super jumper is a nice newish feature from 2015 which can be used to hurl minifigures up in the air. As this was my first Super Heroes build ever, I was surprised to see that Spider-Man stays attached to the super jumper when it is used and that the fit between his legs and the jumper is very tight.
A great little set for Super Hero fans (even with the spelling mistake on Bleecker Street)! "

Ultimate General Magmar
" 70338 Ultimate General Magmar is the second Nexo Knights set that I have built, the first being Ultimate Flama, and these two sets bear more than a passing resemblance to each other. The set includes 64 pieces in two baggies and an instruction booklet which is folded in half. The first step of the build is the assembly of the minifigure. General Magmar has a red head with printing on both sides. His torso is a combination of dark red with red arms and black hands, and he has lava-like printing on front and back of the torso. The leg piece consists of dark red hips and black legs with printing on the front. The very cool-looking black ponytail piece is unfortunately a bit unstable and pops off very easily. The second step of the build is the showcase stand where General Magmar's two other weapons and Nexo Shields can be stored when they are not in use.
General Magmar's main weapons are two large orange flames that are attached to a neck bracket and that can be spun separately by turning their handles. The flames are so large and heavy that balancing the figure on a smooth surface can be bit of a task. Fortunately, the disproportionately large shield he holds can double as a front support. The flames are hinged, so they can turn basically in any direction which leaves ample room for other weapons and the shield. Besides the saw blade flames, General Magmar has a huge spiky transparent red sword, two fist smashers attached to a black bar, and two translucent-blue whirlwind blades and the Nexo Powers to go with them. Because the blue whirlwinds attach to Magmar's weapons rack differently from the orange flames, I would suggest the easiest way to spin those whirlwinds is to blow on them. The fist smasher contraption is so large (taller than the minifigure) that I found it difficult to play with.
The build is very easy despite the scary-looking technic parts and there are no stickers in the set, which is always a positive thing. When playing with the set, I found that due to snugly fitting parts, dismantling the blue whirlwinds from the weapons rack on Magmar's back meant that one of the longish gray technic pins came off completely. Also the showcase stand came apart when I tried to pry the selfsame whirlwind parts off it, but I think this problem may correct itself with time and use of the minifigure and its weapons. "

Ultimate Flama
" 70339 Ultimate Flama is the first ever Nexo Knights set that I have built. The set includes 67 pieces in two baggies and an instruction booklet which is folded in half. The build starts with the assembly of the villain, who has the new-ish "mini ghost lower part" (design number 19859) in transparent orange and solid yellow for legs. Flama's head is a regular yellow minifigure head with some orange and white printings and it is covered with a transparent orange dome which is molded to look like a flame. Flama's torso is yellow with orange hands and there is fiery printing on both sides of the torso. The second part of the build is the showcase stand where Flama's two other weapons can be stored when they are not in use.
The Flame Wreck hammer (with a printed 2x2 round flat tile) attaches to a neck bracket and is so heavy that on a smooth surface Flama is quite wobbly on his ghost legs unless the hammer touches ground, preferably on front of him. The hammer is also so close to Flama's right arm that his other weapons have to be carefully positioned in order not to hinder the hammer's operation. This is also the reason why Flama's shield has to be on the left side, there is no room for it on the right side (although the image on the box suggests otherwise). Besides the Flame Wreck hammer, Flama's weapons are a sword of flame, a slime stud shooter and a spinning ice disc and the Nexo Powers to go with them. There is a gray container for storing the extra slime studs.
The build is very easy although there are a few intimidating technic parts included in the set. As I have mostly conquered my fear of those technic parts, I found that the most challenging part of the build was getting the box open! Just in case there are some other newbies reading this review: there are two seals on the sides of the box that go underneath it and these need to be cut before the bottom part can be pried open. "

A Lot of Fun in the Park
" 60134 Fun in the Park is a set which contains 157 pieces. Out of these bricks one can build a multitude of mini-builds, 14 minifigures, and a completely new baby figure which is as high as a regular minifigure's leg piece. The baby's head is much smaller than a regular minifigure's head, as is the hole from which it attaches to the body. The baby's arms do not move and the hands are too small to hold objects. The German shepherd type dog (with an old mold but a new print) in the set is a single part and requires no assembly. The bricks of the set are divided into three numbered bags of parts and there is a thin instruction leaflet for each bag.
Of the 14 minifigures, three have dual-sided heads and one minifigure has printing on their legs. 13 of the 14 torsos have printing also on the back and it seems that all of the torsos are completely new. Four of the hairpieces are in new colors (such as the yellow spiky hairpiece and the white curly one). I believe that seven or eight of the heads are also new prints. Four of the minifigures are children (they have shorter legs) and the rest are adults, of which two can be classified as senior citizens. Gender distribution is equal; there are seven female and seven male figures in this set. My favorite is probably the new baby figurine, although the painter is also a very pretty minifigure.
If one abides by the instructions, the very first mini-build is the brand new gray wheelchair, which consists of four pieces: the wheelchair seat, two new big wheels that look similar to those in a Lego bicycle, and a skateboard wheel. Second build is the hot dog cart (with the new hot dog bun), third the bus stop (there is a new print for the sign), fourth the merry-go-round, fifth the bicycle and so forth. The final build is the ingenious black and gray baby stroller which has rolling wheels. Before submitting this review, I had to check whether the baby stroller would fit through a regular Lego door as the stroller is only two studs wide, and to my delight it does! My favorite mini-builds are the wheelchair, the lawnmower and the baby stroller.
The build is very easy indeed, and I think the only difficulties a five-year-old building this set might have is getting the bicycle wheels attached, and the sausage to fit in the hot dog cart which, in my opinion, is nigh on impossible. The merry-go-round might also prove to be slightly difficult if one does not pay enough attention to the instructions; the yellow rail pieces can easily end up in the wrong place.
Fun in the Park is a fantastic set with many cool new pieces and a great chance to expand the variety of people (and dogs) in Lego City. I especially like the fact that half of the minifigures are female, which is not usually the case with City themed sets. The only complaints I have about this set are (and I had to dig deep to come up with the last two):
1) The hot dog cart is too small for the sausage, and it seems to me that its top does not fit the cart perfectly because the transparent sides are a hair's width too tall,
2) The wheels on the lawnmower do not spin,
3) The baby bottle is almost as tall as the baby,
4) A smallish green baseplate (perhaps 6x6 or 8x8 studs) for the two trees and the flowers would have been a nice addition to the set, and the same could be said about a lamp post (perhaps similar to the one in set 10249).

Camillot
" 41557 Camillot is a set which contains 64 pieces. The build is enjoyable but very easy and results in a mostly gray and brown Mixels character with a dark silver (pole)ax attached to his arm. The ax revolves on its axis, which makes it look very intimidating. Camillot's arms and legs are all ball-jointed, so they can bend any which way, but I did find the arms a bit too short for proper battle. Camillot's up-and-down moving nose is apparently a cannon, though he can't shoot from it.
The character also has a ball joint on his neck and he splits almost in half to reveal a white-fanged mouth. As Camillot has only two legs, opening his mouth completely will result in him tumbling down on his back. "

Mixadel
" 41558 Mixadel is a set of 63 pieces. The build is very easy and when completed the end result is a mostly gray brown Mixels character with a catapult on his back. Mixadel's four legs are all ball-jointed, so their movement is quite different from his two shortish arms. He has very sharp-looking teeth and a very cool silvery helmet protecting his eye, which is the size of a regular minifigure head.
In my opinion, the build was great fun. The only problem with this character is that it is tail heavy because of the weight of the catapult it is carrying and gets easily toppled over. This can be counterbalanced by positioning the back legs so that they carry more of the character's weight. "

Paladum
" This was the first Mixels set that I've ever purchased or built and I have to say the experience was very good.
41559 Paladum is a small set of 64 pieces. The build is very easy and the result of it is a golden-winged gray and brown Pegasus-horse-type Mixel character and a black-and-white spear carrying little monster called a Nixel. Once completed, the mouth, wings, neck, tail and legs of Paladum can be maneuvered into different positions. Paladum's hind legs are ball-jointed so their movement is a bit more versatile.
What really intrigued me about this set was the pieces used as Paladum's teeth, the 1x1 flat which has two rounded corners. They are currently available only in white and only in Series 7 Mixels, but I have hopes they will be recolored and used in other sets as well. "

Microfighters: The Ghost
" With its 104 pieces, this small set is surprisingly big. The set includes a miniature spaceship (a micro-scale version of 75053 The Ghost) and one female minifigure (Hera Syndulla). The minifigure has printed orange legs and a mostly brown torso with printings on both sides, and a double-sided head. Her headgear is in a separate bag and is intricately printed. The spaceship has a front facing stud shooter and four wings that can be adjusted a little.
Although the build is very easy, I managed to get a few pieces wrong. For example, I used the black 2x2 round plates when I should have used the dark gray ones, and also succeeded in leaving two light gray 1x2 plates out from the front of the spaceship. So be sure to follow the instructions and preferably in a well-lighted area so that the colors stand out better.
The spaceship is built on a 4x6 plate, which means that there's not a whole lot to hold on to on the underside, but it's possible to get a good grip on the 1x2 inverted slopes at the back of the ship if one's fingers are small enough. The stud shooter packs quite a punch which is just good enough to topple the minifigure (yes, I tried) especially when she's gripping her blaster pistol. "

Keep Haulin'
" The latest addition to the Lego train family is the 984 piece set Heavy-Haul Train (60098). The set contains eight numbered bags, six instruction booklets (two larger and four small), a whopping 33 stickers, and 16 curved rail pieces along with 12 sections of straight rail. The train is a graceful combination of a red and gray locomotive and three wagons. Two of the wagons are flatbeds and one is a hopper wagon with opening doors on both sides so it can discharge its cargo of dark gray 1x1 round bricks. The smaller flatbed wagon is carrying a green and white helicopter and the larger a yellow and black backhoe.
Four of the minifigures (train driver, engineer, welder, and crane operator) are male and one (backhoe driver) is female. No two minifigures are alike, although two are dressed in identical orange and green jackets and gray trousers, but their heads and headgear are different. The welder is wearing a white shirt and blue overalls, the crane operator has an orange and brown jacket and dark blue trousers on him, and the female backhoe driver is dressed in almost completely orange clothes. All minifigures have their torsos printed on both sides and all are wearing red hard hats. Sadly, there are no double-sided heads in this set, they are always my favorites.
The build is not inordinately difficult. For me, the hardest part of the build was probably putting the locomotive wheels on their axles, because in this case the wheels are not flush with the axle ends, and if one gets the assembly wrong the train won't run as smoothly as it should. Getting the stickers on straight (or something resembling straight) was also an onerous and time-consuming task, as was attaching the string to the crane boom and the part that connects to the crane bucket. Not surprisingly, given my past problems, the technic parts used in building the underside of the locomotive gave me some gyp, too.
Connecting the train motor to the battery box and infrared receiver should be done with care, because if the connections are not sufficiently tight, the train will not operate. This time, I had no problems getting the battery box to function, but unfortunately I had a faulty infrared receiver in my set. I was able to confirm this by connecting the battery box straight to the train motor and when noticing that both the box and the motor worked perfectly after this, the problem had to be the infrared receiver between the two. I'm glad to say the customer service replaced the faulty part very quickly and now I have a perfectly functioning train in my collection.
My favorite of the wagons is definitely the brown hopper wagon, I really like to empty the wagon and fill it up again, and I suspect most children will also share my enthusiasm. I just love the spring-operated crane bucket and the fact that it can be substituted by a hook in order to lift things with it. For some reason, the welder's equipment pleases me greatly, as it did in the Deep Sea Exploration Vessel (60095), too. What I also like about this train set is that getting the battery box off the locomotive is relatively easy. It requires only the removal of the largest section of the locomotive roof and possibly the power switch assembly, but these are easily replaced.
There are also a few things that bothered me about this otherwise great set:
1) The crane boom is just a tad too short for lifting the helicopter. I noticed that the chopper bangs into the cabin of the crane when being lifted up.
2) One can't open the locomotive cockpit if the flatbed wagon carrying the helicopter is attached straight to the locomotive like in the introductory images shown on the website.
3) The helicopter cockpit might not open completely because the rotor blades are almost always in the way. However, this does not prevent placing a minifigure in the chopper.
4) The black 2x2 hinge plates that connect to the locomotive cockpits need to be pushed in place very firmly or they will pop off when the cockpits are opened.
5) The backhoe is slightly wide for its flatbed wagon, its wheels protrude over the sides, which makes it just as wide as the train track.
6) The set does not include switching tracks, which have been a regular feature in the two cargo carrying train sets before this one (60052 and 7939) but there is one minifigure more in this set than in those two and also a 16-stud-wide railroad crossing.
7) The train driver does not fit into the cabin with his coffee mug unless his arm is bent up. This is clearly shown in the instruction leaflet, so it does not come as a surprise.
8) As the helicopter undercarriage is smooth from underneath, it does not attach firmly to its wagon. This makes the helicopter a bit unstable when the train is going through a tight bend full tilt.
All in all, a great set for train enthusiasts! "
