"Very fun build. Very easy, but at this level, totally expected. The heart is very heart shaped, if that makes sense. The legos are able to make the shape well.
Liked the "hidden" compartment, but do agree that there should be a latch somewhere to keep the lid from sliding around. That's my only negative for it. Otherwise, a great fun project for anyone, any skill level."
"I received Creationary for Christmas and have played it twice. Once with an eight-year old. and once with a group of adults (I was the youngest at 33!)
Both times we had fun playing but there are few challenges with this game. One is packaging. It needs a lid for the inner tray or maybe a deeper tray. I found that I had to use Press N Seal wrap to keep the bricks in their spots between uses, otherwise transporting or storing this game caused all the bricks to jumble together. Not a huge problem, but if you want to quickly sit down and play, having the pieces mixed together is harder to start with.
The pictures on the cards are hard to build. The 8 year old had fun building but didn't know what a lot of the pictures were meant to be-she had no idea what the Eiffel Tower was. The adults, admittedly not Lego fans, had no idea where to start building with even the "easy" pictures. They knew what the object was, but didn't know where to even start. Perhaps a beginning set of cards where the object is shown already built with bricks so people get more of an idea of where to start and are not as overwhelmed?
The bricks themselves seem, at first, to be plentiful. And, to be honest, the number is fine. However, the basic building blocks are lacking. You might be given 2 yellow 2X2, but need 8. You can mix colors, yes, but overall, I found that the basic ones are lacking. I may be adding more over time as I figure out the ones we need the most (such as more roof tiles!).
That being said, we all had a lot of fun playing and trying to guess what someone was building. It will be a game I pull out often in the future. I doubt a non-Lego lover would end up with this game as it seems to be geared towards those who already build and have an idea on how the bricks work together."
"I knew going into this, that the newest kits wouldn't be fully explored in this book, but was pleasantly surprised that they were mentioned just not fully described.
What brought my rating down, is that they did not list all the kits out there. There were several little ones missing and were completely ignored in this book as if they never existed. I don't think it would have been too difficult to even just list those kits so that the collector (the main person who would be interested in this book) had a full list of available kits out there. This was what I mainly was looking for so I knew which ones I am missing. Instead, I'll be hunting a full list down somewhere else.
It did come with a mini figure which is always a plus, and the detail in the book on the kits is very interesting as it talks about the development of how the characters were designed and about the making of process.
I enjoyed the book and it was worth the look through, but don't count on it being the definitive Harry Potter Lego collection book."
"Bought this holiday train at the Lego store at the Mall of America a couple days ago and I just put it together. It's a pretty basic train, but the details are well done. The wheels are old fashioned and go well with the look of this two car train.
Size wise, it seems to be on par with the Santa and sleigh with reindeer. I bought it to put with the Christmas Village sets that I collect and I think it'll fit in well, though, it's smaller than the vehicles you get with those sets."
"Just bought this at the Lego store in the Mall of America and am pleased with the turkey. A bit different than the one I have had for a few years now-the feet are a bit more solid than that one. The wings and feet are still a bit delicate, so seems more like a decoration piece than play piece.
It is very stable when standing by itself. Like the red part under the beak-well designed."
"I recently bought the cottage and just finished putting it together today. I really enjoyed all the details put into the set. The kitchen has a sink with a faucet, a stove and oven, kitchen cabinets...the living room comes with a tree, a painting on the wall and a great glowing fireplace. There are several new bricks in this set that I haven't seen before, including new "brick" ones for the fireplace. The bedroom comes complete with a dresser, bed and toys.
The extras aren't bad either, though the igloo is my favorite. The shed has a lot of details, too. The truck is neat and goes with the winter theme being a snow plow.
The cottage seems pretty solid. I haven't put together the other sets (I have all the other winter sets except for the train) yet, but plan to. I think it'll be fine, though it seems a bit bigger than the others, though, it may just be my perception."
"I just finished putting this together and do enjoy it. There are some great pieces in here, several I've not seen before in other kits. Love the lamp post, the globe within a globe. I did think the dog and trainer was a bit random and that the truck seems too large for the set, though design wise, it fits in well.
The gazebo looks nice and I think the musicians are a nice touch. I did not have problems with my roof or eaves that others seem to have had. Actually, everything fit the first time, which was not the case for me with the toy shop roof.
I do think it it's a bit expensive for what's there...I commented that I was surprised that there were enough bricks left for the building after putting the "extras" together first. The post office building just isn't as detailed as the toy shop and bakery buildings are.
Overall, I think it fits in with the other two buildings, but would have preferred just a bit more of a "holiday" feeling to it."
