" Jay ZX is one of the new spinner booster packs. Booster Packs are a great way to improve spinners or get bulk weapons and characters. I don’t know why this pack is still available while the other two released at the same time are not. He certainly has more unique parts than Kendo Cole, and is the only booster pack with the blades.
The Character: Jay ZX has silver ZX armor which can hold up two katana on the back. He has a silver crest on his headgear, and the back part is tied up so that it fits with the armor. He has a grey martial arts belt, and has a jacket on one arm over his ninja outfit.
The weapons: Jay has a silver katana and a pike with the new dagger on it. But the dagger I think was made for Loki’s staff in Marvel Super Heroes. I don’t like when you find out when a new piece was made for a different theme. His golden weapon is a saw with blades on the side. (At least I think the blades were made just for Ninjago.)
The cards: If you have a character with Lightning 300 and Ice 200 (remember that this set only works with a separate 2012 spinner) then you can use all Jay ZX’ cards with it. Surrender is like Trade Off, but now you can trade headgear OR armor to avoid losing. Avalanche is a lay-down obstacle card. With Double Stars you throw the Double Stars card and the character card during the spin, and continue doing it until the crown is removed or the card is cancelled.
Fast as Lightning is Jay ZX’ special customizing card, which allows you to add pieces included in the set. The shield pieces are lightning spikes, but because they are only on one stud they might be knocked off. There are also, as I said before, the three silver blades. The problem with these is you have to use your teeth to get them off most of the time. There is also a lift brick to give your blades ground clearance. Also, when you play this card, your opponent must spin with one hand.
Pros:
Jay ZX
Blades
Golden Weapon
Fast as Lightning
Surrender
Cons:
Pieces hard to get out

" I was looking for the old spinners released in January 2012 and March 2012 (which are selling like elemental hotcakes) and couldn’t find them, but I came across this set. As there was really no alternative I got it.
The spinners: These spinners have translucent tops so you can see the parts underneath. For those unfamiliar with the 2012 spinner variation, the studs now have holes like Technic bricks and the bottom has three Technic peg holes. Plus, the bottoms are shiny and do not round up but have a circular tip for the slide shoe. Kai’s spinner and slide shoe are translucent orange with a silver bottom and flame design; and his crown is metal with gold. Chokun’s spinner is translucent green, with a green slide shoe, metal bottom, stone detail, and translucent orange crown with snake design. The new crown elements in the set actually work with any spinner, but don’t lock the spinner.
The characters: The NRG ninja, I believe, are when they have reached their full potential and become pure elemental energy. Kai is red, even his face, with the scar in gold. He has a gold fire emblem and gold fire energy all over him. His headgear has a small gold crest and the back part is tied up. Chokun has a diamondback pattern, grey on the body and silver on his grey face, on an orange body with black scale markings and some white scales. His head is the same mold as Fang-Suei’s and has two fangs and red yellow eyes. His legs are short.
The weapons: This set has lots and lots of weapons. The regular weapons are a silver ninja sword, a grey axe, a scythe with a new blade and an orange tip, a torch pike, a dark blade sword, a giant hammer, a pike with a shorter spike and a translucent orange snake whip. The snake can also stand on a stud. Chokun’s golden weapon is a mace. Kai’s golden weapon is a double curved spear (which I think is called a glaive.)
The cards: Once you have the basic spinning technique down, you can start practicing cards. There are eight cards in this set but each character can only use five of the eight. NRG Kai actually has less Spinjitzu power than normal. (???) Chokun actually has more power than Kai does. Sensei’s Whistle deems the spin a tie, and you must try again on the same rules of the round. Strike Down is a golden version of Up for Grabs, where you win the weapon if both characters fall. The problem is there is less chance of both players falling when you hold the golden weapon.
The set has two challenge cards, Rings of Fire! and Gateway Guardian! With Rings of Fire!, the two players must spin longer within a ring of four cards. With Gateway Guardian!, Both players spin at the same time, but in opposite directions, towards a gate. You win if you get through the gate.
Spitfire Snake is a crown card at five Fire bars. In every turn until your crown is removed, you throw Fire cards at the battlefield. Chokun does not have a card to remove NRG Kai’s crown, but he can use a Lava Puddle card that, if his opponent touches it, they must discard a crown card being used. Chokun has his own crown card called Circular saw, where his opponent must discard a card every time Chokun wins, until the crown is removed (which NRG Kai can do if he is using Lava Puddle.) The downside is Chokun must use Elemental Strength, which adds one bar to each power until the round is over, to use Circular Saw.
The Customizing Pieces: The Weapon Pack includes pieces to customize the spinner. These pieces are shields and blades. The shield choices are Fire shields, which can be knocked off, and Stone shields. Chokun’s crown prevents the shields from being used except on certain spots. There are also two sets of blades, one of metal arrow blades, the other of translucent snake blades. These are attached underneath the spinner. The problem with this is I nearly always have to use my teeth to get the connectors out.
So the pros:
Customizing elements
NRG Kai
Red Hands on NRG Kai
Chokun
New Crowns (Chokun’s doubles as an inner tube!)
Sensei’s whistle
Circular Saw
Lava Puddle
Challenge Cards
Elemental Strength
Snake Whip
Cons
Connectors can’t come out easily.
Strike Down is a complete remake of Snow Surfing.
Strike down only with Golden Weapon.
No crown cards in set.
Glaive is too big.
Spinners can’t use multi-weapon attacks (like Weapon Frenzy) as easily with crowns on (at least they can use Inferno).
Some of the names don’t make sense with their cards. Namely, Strike Down and Circular Saw.
Spitfire Snake doesn’t have many cards to use, plus thrown cards don’t affect much except to knock down some obstacle cards.
Note: I bought this for $25 dollars and on the website right now it is $20.
Ninja…GO!

" Lego Master Builder Academy kits are different from all other Lego sets. Like the Lego Creator sets, each has information on how to build 3 models out of 1, and a few other bricks for your own creations. But it also includes special building tips in the instructions. These show you when you are using the Master Builder techniques found in the kit as well as other things. Also, you can unlock a corresponding level in the exclusive MBA website.
After the Space kit is the first kit in the first subscription: The Microbuild kit. This kit includes instructions on building microscale models and introduces two new Master Builder techniques, the size scaling technique and the small elements technique. The techniques learned earlier are also used but are typically not marked.
Most Master Builder Academy kits include minifigure accessories and gear but they must be used on a separate minifigure. This kit includes a minifigure baseball cap that the figure will usually wear on a day-to-day basis. It also includes two hand-held objects, a magnifying glass and a space shuttle (which is really, REALLY Microscale.)
The Airport is the first model in the set. It features a large runway with lights for airplanes to take off from or land on, a control tower with a speaker, a hotel and a waiting room. The runway is built with large grey tiles, and the lights are translucent red tiles alongside green tiles. The windows are made of clear blue or clear light blue plates; the hotel has three floors and an extension with two floors and the control tower has a ground floor, six upper floors, and the top floor. 3 vehicles are also found in the model; a plane, a forklift and a small bus.
Following that is the Race Track. This model includes 2 racers, a loudspeaker and a section of the course. It has red and green flags and lights for night races. The lights are again alternating translucent red tiles beside green tiles. The ramp takes the racers over the water hazard and back onto the course. There are two racers, one a single-stud-wide racer, and the other a two-stud-wide racer with more detail. The loudspeaker building has two floors.
Then there is the Shuttle Launch. It includes multiple buildings including a radio tower and a boarding ramp. The launch pad is hinged so that it can lift up the shuttle. The shuttle can stand on end on the launch pad to launch off. It is the only one of the three models not including alternating translucent red tiles and green tiles but does include the alternating clear blue and grey layers.
The MBA subscription also comes with a code that you can use on the Lego website to upgrade your online MBA member profile. For Kit 2, this includes a video on Microbuild, videos on the MBA techniques, strategies, a bio and Lego events; various quizzes, and a Kit 2 gallery. Online, you can earn 5 new achievement badges: three for quizzes (The Brick Clips Quiz, The Kit 2 trivia, and the Kit 2 Skill Test), one for designing and loading a microbuild model onto the gallery, and one for rating and commenting on other MBA gallery models. When I first unlocked the website there was an error so I could only use the Design Journal section of articles and videos. The only other bad things about it are that you can’t see the galleries of higher kits than yours or play any MBA-exclusive games.
To put all this into pros and cons:
Pros:
Minifigure accessories (Hat is a new type)
Lots of clear blue one-third pieces (plus lots of red tiles and circular light blue pieces)
Website Quizzes and videos
Loading models
Rating models
Easy access to Kit 1 gallery from Kit 2
Cons:
No exclusive MBA games
Can’t see higher kits’ galleries
Not much to do with the models once you’ve built them.
Website doesn’t always work.

" I got Wyplash with Kruncha from my grandmother for Christmas.
The character: Wyplash’ s main body has a spine you can easily notice, curved arms, and boots. He also has a martial arts white belt and new white General armor. He has a stud on his head for the rice hat to go onto. Also, the armor and head make him rather unstable.
The weapons: Wyplash’s golden weapon, the double flail, is not a very good weapon as it spins you crazily after a hit. He also has a bone and a whip which can grab onto other weapons (such as Cole’s hammer) and tear the characters off their spinners. Works much better than the double flail, which other reviewers complained about as well.
The cards: Once you have the basic spinning technique down, you can start practicing cards. Ice shield, which is Ice four, is not as good a defence as Cole’s Storm Shield. Weapon Swap is used the way some people think Total Recall is used, giving up one weapon just for another weapon. (By the way, Total Recall is an AWESOME battle card which comes with Kai DX.) Head Spin is also a good card, as it might fling out your opponent (you can guess what this card does by the name, right?) Twister is a “stage card”, you lay it down on the battlefield.
So the pros are=
Cool new armor
Transparent spinner
Twister
Cons
Heavy character
Double Flail
Hope this helps! Ninja GO!

" I got Kruncha with Wyplash from my grandmother for Christmas.
The character: Kruncha’ s main body has a spine you can easily notice, curved arms, and boots. He also has a martial arts grey belt and new grey General armor. His helmet is actually part of the head and dosen’t come off, unfortunately. Also, the armor and head make him extremely unstable.
The weapons: Kruncha has a golden hatchet with a blade on either end. His chained fang (some call it shoge) is not a very good weapon as it spins you crazily after a hit. He also has a bone.
The cards: Once you have the basic spinning technique down, you can start practicing cards. Kruncha’s cards are pretty much all dependent on something. This set’s golden card is Impersonation, which you can play as a copy of an opponent’s card, which in some types of matches, requires your opponent to play a card. The same can be true of Gold Smash, which cancel’s an opponent’s golden card. Sacrifice, which lets you give up a skeleton arm to take an extra weapon, requires you to win, and Recovery requires you to play Sacrifice (and requires you to have another card like power up or cut’n’run.) or your opponent to play reckless (they take a skeleton arm if they win).
So the pros are=
Cool new armor
Transparent spinner
Cons
Heavy character
Messed up cards
Recovery
Seems to lose on hard surfaces (But better on the battle arena with Sensei Wu.)
Hope this helps! Ninja GO!

" I got Bonezai with the Kai DX Spinner set as a Christmas Present.
The character: Bonezai has the evil-looking head that the Lego castle skeletons had, but slightly different. His main body has a spine you can easily notice, he has curved arms, and boots! He also has a martial arts white belt and Garmadon’s insignia on white armor that is exclusive to this set (That’s why I wanted it mainly.) But he still doesn’t have moving hands.
The weapons: Bonezai’s golden weapon is a golden pickaxe. He also has a bone axe (most spinners have regular bones) and a silver mace.
The cards: Once you have the basic spinning technique down, you can start practicing cards. This set’s golden card is Limbo. With this card you make your opponent lean their character back on the spinner (Try using Off Balance or Shaky Bones with this.) Gravity drop makes your opponent start spinning in the air, and there is a chance of them falling off their spinner when they land. Pick’n’Choose allows you to take any weapon if you win (good if you lost an awesome weapon or have a good golden card like Total Recall.) Spiral Vortex is a strange card and not very good, but at least I now have enough stage cards (that is obstacle cards and the like) to even it with Smoke Screen (x2) and Magnetize.
So the pros are=
Exclusive armor
3rd stage card
Pick’n’choose
Cons
Spiral vortex isn’t good
No ice 400 card for Bonezai.
Hope this helps! Ninja GO!

" The Lego Master Builder Academy is different from all other Lego sets. Like the Lego Creator sets, it has information on how to build 3 models out of 1, and a few other bricks for your own space creations. But it also includes special building tips in the instructions. These show you when you are using the locking or sideways building Master Builder techniques, or adding movement functions and detail. Included as well are an exclusive MBA website, hints for making your own space models, help for making a model concept and a piece of Lego brick paper.
This set is the only set with the Lego MBA Level 1 minifigure. He, I believe, is the only minifigure with lime green arms and legs. This is a great reason for buying this set, among others that I will tell you. He has the cool pilot’s helmet with goggles, and the MBA Level 1 logo on his shirt. The Space Designer kit also has an outer space jetpack, about 4/5 the height of the minifigure. The bad thing about this is the figure does not fit into the cockpit with the jetpack on. I found this jetpack doubles as a large hand-held blaster.
The first model in this set is the Helicraft, which is a model of a futuristic helicopter. The main differences from a real helicopter are the two wings with space engines, and the split tail replacing the tail rotor. This is the model shown on the front of the Kit 1 box. It has a new cockpit type which I have duplicated in some of my own space models. I also believe it is a better battle vehicle than the space fighter, because the Helicraft weapons shoot forward where the Space Fighter weapons don’t.
Following that is the Rocket model, based on the classic space rocket. It uses a hinged brick for the very top of the rocket, and a big double-sized engine, plus supports that allow the Rocket to stand on end. It has the same cockpit type as the Helicraft, and it stretches all the way down the ship. The main problem with the model is the two wing pieces on the bottom don’t fit very well into the rocket shape. There are a few other minor problems but I won’t list them.
The third and final model is the Space Fighter. I would have to list this under this set’s “Most pointless model.” This is because, as I mentioned earlier, the space fighter weapons can’t shoot forward, only to the sides. It dosen’t have the new cockpit type, but it isn’t a simple type either. It has landing gear, and the wings touch on the same level as the landing gear.
The MBA kit also comes with a code that you can use on the Lego website to unlock an online MBA member profile. This includes a video on Lego Space, videos on the MBA techniques, quizzes, and a gallery. Online, you can earn 5 achievement badges: one for signing up on the website, two for quizzes (The Space Brick Clips Quiz and the Kit 1 Skill Test), one for designing and loading a space model onto the gallery, and one for rating and commenting on other MBA gallery models. However, I pretty much completed everything on the website in about an hour total, so after one day you probably won’t be back besides re-watching videos, loading models, or rating. The only bad things about it are that you can’t see the other kits galleries or play any MBA-exclusive games.
To put all this into pros and cons:
Pros:
MBA MINIFIGURE!!
Cool new cockpit design
New Cockpit piece
MBA website videos
Minifigure nice helmet
Loading models
Rating models
Sorting tray
And don’t forget: MBA MINIFIGURE!!
Cons:
Pointless space fighter guns
Can’t see other galleries from Kit 1
No exclusive MBA games
But this is the only place to get the MBA MINIFIGURE!!

" I got the Spinjitsu starter set with Cole DX last spring. It is one of the better spinner sets in the series, because with it you can get into the game right away. It also includes the arena so you have a specific space to fight in.
The characters: Frakjaw is almost entirely new. He has the evil-looking head that the Lego castle skeletons had, but slightly different. His main body has a spine you can easily notice, curved arms, and boots! The boots must have been created for the Spinjitzu game. He also has a martial arts red belt and Garmadon’s insignia. Jay is the first ever blue ninja created by Lego. He has a blue belt, Ninja lightning logo on his shirt, and a small mouth, not in a smile or a frown.
The weapons: If you are going on a “Spinjitsu Career” like me, this set has the advantage of your choosing which weapons to play. The regular weapons are a ninja sword, a brown staff, a bone, and a skeleton sword. I never had a skeleton sword before I got this set so I liked it a lot. Jay’s golden weapon is a spear. Frakjaw’s golden weapon, a flail, is rubber, but that doesn’t affect the game much.
The cards: Once you have the basic spinning technique down, you can start practicing cards. The cards are another advantage for those planning a “Spinjitsu Career” as you can try out a battle deck and see the strengths and weaknesses of the characters. Flame pit is a good card that can, if you wish, be used in conjunction with Smoke Screen (included in the set) or Magnetize. Those cards don’t have much use otherwise. Throwing star is a pretty useless card.
Two cards in the set cannot be used by Frakjaw. Trade off lets you take your ninja’s headgear off instead of giving up a weapon. The card is golden. Jay’s force field requires lightning four. With it, you place bricks onto your spinner for protection. However, it can only be used when your opponent’s weapon is close to the ground, so Cole’s storm shield provides better protection.
Three cards cannot be used by Jay, so Frakjaw has a better hold on cards in this set. His golden card is Cut’n’run, the skeleton equivalent of Trade off. Frakjaw also has a fire four card, Up for grabs. With this card, if both the characters fall off the spinners, if you play it, you win the weapon. There is also another earth card, Off Balance, which, when played, requires the player’s opponent to spin their character on one leg.
Finally, the pros and cons .Pros:
The Arena
New skeleton
Plenty of cards
Several weapon choices
Flame Pit
Up for grabs
Trade off
Cut n run
Cons=
Force Field
Off balance
Smoke screen
Throwing Star
Hope this helps! Ninja GO! "

" I had been looking for Starter set and Cole spinner sets, because at the time I was interested in selling my Turbo Shredder. The store didn’t have Cole at the moment, so I decided to get Cole DX and get Cole later.
The character: Cole DX has a picture of the earth dragon shooting a rock on his shirt and pants and a martial arts belt. He has an angry expression on his face.
The weapons: I think that all the Ninjago sets, not counting skeleton spinners, have swords. Cole’s sword is not like the others, which are the ninja swords from Prince of Persia, It is a classic ninja sword. His spear is the color of the Dragon Knights’ weapons (from Kingdoms), The same color as the metal on Breez 2.0 and Evo 2.0 (from Hero Factory.) His golden weapon is, of course, the Scythe of Quakes.
The cards: Once you have the basic spinning technique down, you can start practicing cards. Boulder Barrier is a golden earth card that does not work very well. That means that, with this set alone, the scythe of quakes is not more valuable than any other weapon. With weapon frenzy you take two clip bricks included in the set and put them on your spinner, then attach weapons to them. One is a vertical, allowing you to use a weapon as a force field, and one is a horizontal, giving you another weapon against your enemy. I usually use the longer weapons, such as a spear, as the shielding. Smoke screen isn’t very useful to you unless you join it with a card like lightning strike, but weapon freeze can be used to deprive your opponent of golden cards for a turn.
So the pros:
Weapon frenzy (one of the best cards!)
Cole DX figure
Weapon freeze
Classic sword
Cons:
Smoke screen
Boulder barrier
Hope this helped! Ninja GO! "

" I got Krazi with Zane and some other Ninjago sets back in February. I’ll cut right to the set from here.
The character: Krazi is almost entirely new. He has the evil-looking head that the Lego castle skeletons had, but slightly different. His main body has a spine you can easily notice, curved arms, and boots! The boots must have been created for the Spinjitzu game. He also has a martial arts blue belt and Garmadon’s insignia. But he still doesn’t have moving hands.
The weapons: I believe all the skeletons have bones, and Krazi (and Nuckal for that matter) have a golden bone, like Kai has a golden sword. He also has a pickaxe and a double bone dagger. It’s probably easier to handle if you make it a single bone dagger.
The cards: Once you have the basic spinning technique down, you can start practicing cards. This set has power up as the golden card. Although it’s only Fire 1 (Regular power up is 3) It would probably be better to get it in another set (I got this card with Nya in July.) Hurricane and Karate Chop allow you to move your spinner, but pretty much only away from you. Lightning Strike is likely the best card in the set.
So the pros are:
New skeleton
Lightning strike
Cons
Dagger hard to handle
Power up
Hurricane is hard to use
Hope this helps! Ninja GO! "
