"I own all of the modular buildings aside from cafe corner and the green grocer and I have to say, The Detective Agency may be my new favourite. It has so much character and life to it, and some of the building techniques are very clever. I really have no complaints whatsoever about this build, i just spent 2 minutes looking at the building to find something I don't like but honestly it's near perfect. In conclusion all I can say is that this is a fantastic set well worth the money and the feeling of owning this gem is so nice knowing that I will keep it for years to come :')"

"To be honest, I never really had my interest peaked with the Modular buildings until now. To me they were nice ideas but some of the early ones were mere husks of buildings (beautiful exterior and disappointing interiors). This set from the get go said buy me. I have a thing for Noire and it spoke to me. I picked it up as an early birthday present to me and I was amazed at all the thought put into it. I didn't have to supply a lot like the hotel with no beds or rooms. I am now on a quest to make a 1940s modular city to enact large arching plots because even though I am grown I do still find joy in making stories out of my set ups. I will say the cookies were a nice touch but I may be replacing them with bottle pieces and making it a real bootleg operation. I do hope lego continues on this path of amazing detail work in the modulars. I have seen that the more recent modulars are headed on this path and will most likely be picking up the pet shop and perhaps the movie theatre as well. I am still on the edge for the resturant. I have plans now to make a ball room with big band and singer."
"This is a very good modular building and it fits in really well with my other modulars as well the first floors for both the barber shop and pool hall are very cool and I like the new mirror piece which I still believe how Lego pulled that off for this set the pool table is very cool and looks like a small hangout for the minifigures after a long day the ceiling fan is very cooland I like how it actually works the second floor is very cool as well even though you get a small kitchen you get lots of candy or cookies for the kitchen and a cat which might try to eat them if it wants the detectives office is very cool and is a decent size office for the detective to relax or do alot of work you also get a police woman to help the detective to find and investigate for the and report back to the detective of who is making the candy or cookies I also like alot of the mason bricks on the outside for the old classic look for the detectives office the top levels for this set are very nice the little water tower is a nice and very cool little build for this set and how they used Bionicle fists to make the cool look for the building as well as Unikittys tail for the other part of the small blue building is very cool. This new modular building is very fun and another great addition to the Modular line and if anyone has the Flower Cart poly bag set 40140 which you can get for free at the Lego store or online when you get this modular then that is also a great add on which it says to add more great play for this set. So if anyone collects any of the modular buildings I highly recomend getting this one as well for your collection."

"I personally like the color scheme and the storyline. The amount of detail that was put into this is excellent.. but the price kills it. Not even 2300 pieces and its over $170 after tax is included.
I like the Barber Shop and Pool Hall, although I was hoping LEGO would create a new modular that included a vehicle of some sort!
The set is overall pretty good. I'd rate it higher if the price dropped by at least $20."
