Small Set, Enormous Fun!
" My kids and I are big fans of the Lego movie and while we have purchased a few of the set from the movie, there are some sets that are just too big or too expensive for us to get. The double-decker couch is a great way to get some of the mini figures that we otherwise would not have been able to get.
The assembly was easy and went quickly. The instructions were easy to follow and both Emmett's car and the couch look great. Each of the mini figures has a second face, one happy, one concerned or sad and each comes with an accessory, except Unikitty (probably because she really can't hold anything).
The price is great considering the number of figures you receive and I really can't say how much of a hit this was with my kids. Enjoy, and happy building! "

Little Big Ben
" I am a big admirer of the sets in the architecture line and love the beauty and simplicity of little Big Ben. The build was quick and easy and completed in about 45 minutes. The instructions were easy to follow and contain plenty of information about the clock and its designers.
There are a lot of small parts and a bit of intricate placement for some of the pieces, and, for a brief time, it becomes a bit repetitive, but the final result is totally worth it. The building is nice and smooth making the display-ability spectacular. Everyone instantly recognizes it as Big Ben. It is also priced about right for the amount of pieces that you receive.
Instead of a "play rating" for the architecture sets, I consider that a "display rating" and this one definitely gets high marks. It truly does look great on my shelf or desk (I rotate out the other sets to keep things fresh).
Enjoy, and happy building! "

Quick and Easy
" I purchased this set on clearance at a big retailer. Had it been full price, I would not have purchased it because, quite honestly, it seemed like a lot of money for 77 bricks.
The build went quickly and easily, taking about 30 minutes, and truly does look great when finished. Like most of the architecture sets, it uses the SNOT system (Studs Not On Top) so everything is smooth and clean looking. Instructions were clear and as always contain lots of information about the building.
A good little build, but definitely not worth full price.
Enjoy, and happy building! "

Infectiously Delightful Confections
" My daughter received this for Christmas and she absolutely loved it! She loves making food with her Duplo bricks and serving them to the family and she also loves pretending that it's her stuffed animals' birthdays so she makes and serves them cake from the set. The candles are a wonderful touch because she loves to "blow them out" after making a wish. The top of the box the set comes in serves as a serving tray and the box itself is made of pretty rugged cardboard, perfectly suited for storing the bricks when she's not playing with them. Truly a great set and a wonderful addition to the "creative food" line.
Enjoy, and happy building! "

Innovative and Fun to Build
" I purchased this set for my 4 year old daughter for her birthday and it was an instant hit! She absolutely loved it, instantly recognized it was supposed to be ice cream and spent the better part of the evening creating and rearranging the different bits into ice cream treats for the family. Even I got into it and helped her create different treats. Her smile was priceless. It has been almost a year and she still plays with it with as much excitement as she did the day we opened it.
Enjoy, and happy building! "

To Gotham... and Beyond!
" If you have never played a Lego game before, this is as good a place as any to start. If you have played, then this should be very familiar to you. Me and my son have been playing this game for a while now, and while we were able to play through the main game in a day, there are many more things to do after the conclusion of the story mode. The levels are all unlocked for free play (playing through the level again with different characters whose abilities can unlock new things you didn't have access to the first time through), but not only that, there are many other missions available from characters that are hanging out in the menu hubs. Unlike Lego Marvel Superheroes, there is no open world free roam as you were able to do in New York City, however you are able to visit other locations to find new challenges and characters. Another new and welcome innovation is that if a character like Batman or Robin is required to change their suits to complete a task, you do not have to open the menu to change the costume, but instead approach the challenge and hit the prompted button (B button) and it automatically changes to the correct costume.
There are quite a few new and exciting characters as well, many of whom I've never heard of, and many voice and lego character cameos by folks who have been associated with some of the DC franchises or comic book world. The controls are fluid and smooth, similar to Marvel and the story does a good job of keeping things fresh and interesting with the humor that Lego games have come to be known for. I gave the game a challenging rating because there are some missions whose solutions are not always obvious and you have to perform a bit of trial and error to discover the correct path. Some folks might be deterred by this (as my son was at times) but we have yet to encounter something that we could not accomplish without a little thought and the proper character.
Overall, a great game that has provided me and my son with many enjoyable hours of gameplay.
Enjoy, and happy building, er, I mean, playing! "

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
" My 7 year old son and I built this set together in about 2 hours. Instructions were easy to follow and the final product looks wonderful.
The Joker's steamroller is quite the eye-catcher and came together pretty easily. It's big and ostentatious, just like the Joker's character. The Batwing was a bit more intricate of a build but it too came together relatively easily. There was only one sticker in the set (the Batman logo) so no real complaints there, but if I did have to complain about one thing it would be the Batwing. My son did not understand, and neither did I, why the wings were made to clamp forward, as the instructions illustrate, to capture the Joker. The Batwing fails on all counts with this action. There is no mechanism to trigger this action and if you press on the bar as you would expect to close the wings, it does nothing, unless the wings are already closed, in which case it opens the wings. The whole setup is awkward and frustrating, and, in truth, could have been designed better.
The set really does revolve around the steamroller so it was nice to have another vehicle as well, one that didn't feel as though it was thrown in to drive up the price (as in the case of the Riddler Chase), but it was a little disappointing. Still, there are plenty of opportunities for play and the mini figures are great additions to the line, and definitely a good set for Batman fans.
Enjoy, and happy building! "

Let's Get Down to Business
" In an hour and a half, my 7 year old son and I assembled this set and he loves it. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and the bags separated and numbered for step by step assembly. There were a few stickers, which are the bane of my Lego existence, and had to be placed on some pretty important pieces, like the Kragle and the 9-volt battery, but stickers aside, the set looks wonderful. It is of course not movie accurate, but let's face it, none of the Lego Movie sets are or could be. It comes with a lot of mini figures and of course Lord Business with his giant legs is my son's favorite one, followed closely by Vitruvius. There are many, many opportunities for play to recreate some of our favorite scenes from the movie, from Kragle-izing Ma and Pa Cop to Emmet's noble sacrifice to save his friends. A truly enjoyable set, priced appropriately, and a big hit with my son. Other than the stickers, we couldn't think of any negatives, although there were some intricate spots in the build where I had to assist my son due to smaller pieces, but that is surely not something to hold against it. Enjoy, and happy building! "

Who Doesn't Like Minifigures?
" I never really thought to review these, but upon finding, buying, opening, and assembling several of them I decided to leave a review and a few tips about finding the ones that you want. I know it might be difficult to locate specific figures, but the secret is to feel around the package for the weapons/accessories. To find the paleontologist, I felt for the bone. To fine the Samurai, I felt around for the swords. Etc. Within a half hour, I was able to fetter out all 16 figures from the display. Most of the figures are new and exciting with lots of new odds and ends. I'm particularly excited about the snake that comes with the snake charmer because I love seeing new animals added to the Lego line. There are a few that are reminiscent of characters from previous sets, such as the ogre and the space marine, but overall the series proves to be fresh and new. Enjoy, and happy building! "

Get Your Transatlantic Accent Ready!
" If any of you have ever seen an old detective movie, you know the accent I'm talking about, and within no time, you (much like I) will be speaking like a hotshot young detective hot on the trail of some... cookie smugglers??? Yes, only in the Lego universe will you find cookie smugglers. That's just one of the many features that make this set so charming.
The assembly went quickly and easily. Like most large sets, pieces are separated out in numbered bags based on the section to be assembled. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and, unbelievably, there we NO STICKERS! Lego finally produced a high end set without cheapening it up with stickers! In all, it took around 6 hours to complete and looks absolutely wonderful.
The first section assembled was the Highlander pool hall, which is probably my favorite section. It is reminiscent of the smoke-filled dives frequented by transients and other miscreants in old movies. The next section is the barber's shop, which, even though it seems a bit cramped for play, is well detailed and also looks authentic with its checkered floor and mirror. The next section is the detective's office and if you've seen any old detective movie, this looks like it was ripped right from the celluloid, with the messy desk, askew wanted poster, filing cabinet and desk fan, and of course the brown fedora hanging on a rack. Also on that floor is a small but highly detailed restroom that is shared between Ace Brickman's office and the small room/kitchen above, which is where they cook the cookies they smuggle. The final section is the roof, with skylight that looks down into the detective's office, rain barrel, and roof to cap it all off. The most interesting parts of the roof are the atypical building elements used to give it a unique look, such as the gray Unikitty tails and the Hero Factory fists. In fact, this set introduces new building elements such as the flat L-shaped brick and the flat circular bricks, which are used to spell out "POOL" on the pool hall sign.
If I had to list any negatives I would list the barber chair. It does not seem nearly as sturdy as I would have liked, but this is a minor flaw and easily overlooked. Space in also a bit cramped in the barber shop, as I mentioned before, and all of the minigifures have the same classic Lego smile face, but the tiny things that I may find wrong are almost completely negated when the set is viewed as a whole. This is a great addition to the line and looks wonderful next to the other Creator modulars. And the possibilities for play are nearly endless! The story writes itself, about a clueless detective who works in the same building as the crooks who cook contraband cookies and smuggle them out through the barber shop.
Enjoy, and happy building! "
