"I love these little holiday sets! They are beautiful little displays, for cheap, and come together quickly and easily. The turkey assembled quickly (in about 20 minutes) and looks great next to the snowman and reindeer. They're great starter kits for kids graduating from Duplo bricks to regular Lego bricks and fun for the whole family to assemble. Snatch these holiday sets up while you can and enjoy!"
"Ah, Santa's Workshop... Everyone has their idea about what it should look like. We've all seen it in movies and on television, so we have a fine-tuned idea of everything it should entail. By those standards, Lego, pretty much nailed it. The exterior of the building itself looks spectacular. The interior is a little lacking, but the details that are there, such as the picture of Mr and Mrs Claus on vacation and Santa's chair for reading Christmas letters are very cute touches. Santa's sleigh is also very well done, even if it is lacking a few reindeer (which I certainly didn't expect there to be 8 or 9), and looks amazing compared to other versions I've seen. The one area in which I am disappointed with the set is the elf toy machine, I guess you could call it. I understand the assembly line idea, elves lined up working on toys as they pass by on the line, but without an additional building to house the machine it awkwardly stands out in the snow. A small little half-shack (like the bonus holiday set, which incidentally, I like better) would have been a great addition. Still, overall, and despite the few stickers, this is a very enjoyable set, good for display, good for play, and a welcome addition to the seasonal, holiday sets. Enjoy, and happy holidays!"
"First of all, I'm not sure what to make of these sets (Birthday, Graduation, Wedding, etc.). Yes, they have Lego elements. You build it, display it, but it's not really something to be played with. However, you can remove the bits and play with them. That being said, I like that you can get mini figures in this way, especially the monster line. The Vampire is a nice figure but nothing that you could not have gotten in the Monster Fighters series. The red spider is nice as are the chains and the lock on the coffin. My one complaint is the coffin. In the Monster Fighter series, there were much better coffins produced with lids that actually fit. This coffin is two bricks that are up next to each other to resemble a coffin and not even a brick on top to hold them together. It's not a huge deal, but based on their past coffins, it was a bit of a let down. Still, I would recommend it and it has a place in my Halloween diorama. Happy Halloween!"
"I eagerly look forward every year to the seasonal sets that Lego comes out with and this year's Halloween set, this cute little bat, was not a disappointment. The build was relatively simple and straightforward, with easy to follow directions. Assembled, it looks great and my kids (and wife) fawned over how cute it was. While it is not necessarily going to be played with, I would replace the play experience rating with a displayability rating and give it a 5. All around, a great little set worth the price tag. Enjoy, and Happy Halloween!"
"Before you down vote my review simply because I gave this game a less than stellar rating, hear me out. I love the Lego video games. Love them, and I have played/own almost all of them. Indiana Jones 1 & 2, Pirates of the Caribbean, Marvel Superheroes, Batman 1 & 2, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, Star Wars... I have loved all of them. Some more than others, but I am a huge fan of the Lego video games. That being said, the Lego Movie video game was a huge letdown. It has nowhere near the depth of its predecessors. In fact, my son and I beat it in a couple of hours and had no desire to replay any of the levels in free play, especially the water level. (YES! A WATER LEVEL! The bane of gamers everywhere!) The levels were not particularly difficult but it seems like they traded level depth, fun, and humorous flair for clips from the movie, which is probably the games only redeeming feature. It may appeal to a younger audience (which is why I did not recommend it to a friend) but to someone who has played these games for a long time, it was not worth playing this distilled down, no frills game. Normally, I'm one of those who likes to complete a game to 100%, but not here. Once through was enough."
"My young son bought this set and I decided to review it using his words. They are as follows... 1. Doc Ock has tentacles. 2. It has that compartment on the back and you can flip the treasure out. 3. It's a truck. 4. I like that it comes with Spiderman's web. Let me translate. He likes the Doc Ock figure because of the many arms and that he comes with dynamite to blow open the back of the truck, which is where there is a lever to flip the "exploded" boxes out. He also likes the truck because it looks neat and comes with a driver, making it have a total of 3 mini figures. And, I think, most of all, he likes the Spiderman figure and loves that he has a web just like in the Marvel Super Heroes video game. He likes everything about it but if I have to add one negative aspect (as it is with pretty much all of my reviews) the set has stickers, albeit only a few, and they are relatively easy to place. Overall, my son loves the set and I like it as well. He's gotten a lot of play time out of it. Enjoy!"
"This is probably one of my favorite sets in recent memory. The first time I showed it off after building it, my friend could not believe that it was made of Lego. The build took about 6 hours or so and the instructions were highly detailed, which means there were no confusing parts and everything went together smoothly. Let me start with the only bad thing... STICKERS. My previous reviews all lambast stickers and this one shall be no different. Granted, there are some painted bricks for the pin striping but the Mini logo as well as the license plates are all stickers. If you can look past the stickers, as I am often forced to do, this is an AWESOME set. The details are amazing and the displayability is superb. To the untrained eye, it literally does not look like a Lego model. The folding seats, the opening hood and trunk, the picnic basket, food, and blanket all make this one of my favorite sets. Lego truly did an awesome job. Instead of a "Play Experience" rating, I would give it a "Display Experience" rating and it definitely gets five stars, and the price seems about right for what you get. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy!"
"If I have to list any negative aspects of this set, it would be the stickers. I hate stickers, although there are not too many, so that's a plus. As far as everything else goes, this set is AMAZING. The build took about 4 hours and was not overly complicated. The instructions were highly detailed and easy to follow, and everything came together quite easily, even the Technic parts that drive the mixer. First off, the games actually work! The dunk tank drops the young lady in when the bullseye is hit and you can actually hit the Test of Strength game with the hammers and send the chuck to the top! Seriously, this blew my mind. I had no clue from the descriptions that the games functioned. All of these along with the ticket booth fit easily on the back of the truck and the instructions tell you how to do this. The Mixer itself, is just as mind-blowing. It looks fantastic and spins easily and smoothly. The glow-in-the-dark bits are okay, but they don't really light it up in the dark. In a way, they seem like they were thrown in last minute, but I definitely don't hold it against the set. The Mixer, too, folds up easily and hooks onto the back of the semi truck, ready to travel to the next LEGO town. I absolutely love this set and my kids do too, especially the look on the face of the guy about to throw up! I hope, like the winter sets, this becomes a tradition."
"My 6 year old son received this set and asked me to help him assemble it. I figured that I might as well review it and give you some of his perspective as well as what I thought. First of all, my thoughts. The set came together in about 2 hours and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. There were a few stickers but they were relatively easy to place. My son loves the set, specifically he loves all of the tiny little details, like the television, the quarter pipe, Donnie's tools, the pizza oven, the training dummy, etc. His only complaint was that it did not come with all four ninja turtles, which I kinda agree with. Other than that, this is a great set for past and current fans of the show. Enjoy!"
"This is an impressive set both in its appearance and in the transformation. It assembled easily in just over 2 hours and all of the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The bug assembles first and out of all of the other bugs in the Galaxy Squad sets I like it best both for its appearance and its uniqueness. The cart part of the Obliterator assembles next and it looks pretty cool with it's adjustable aiming flick missiles. My one complaint about the cart is that, by itself and with the shuttle attached, it does not roll very well, despite the six wheels. I've made sure it's not my fault and it appears that it is just a minor flaw in design. The shuttle on the other had is my favorite piece of the set and looks spectacular, with its adjustable wings and large guns. I am a little worried about how the cart detaches from the shuttle (the mechanism, a push rod built into the exhaust, has to be pushed pretty hard to make the cart and shuttle separate), but either apart or together they look great. There are stickers (which I hate) but they really do add to the look. I dinged the value for the money because it did seem a bit expensive but overall, it is a wonderful set. Enjoy!"
