Grand Ol' Build
" The Grand Emporium is my second purchase in the LEGO building series and I have to say that it it every bit as cool as it looks. The build itself took about 8 hours total and the entire thing came together pretty easily. The first floor took the longest to assemble (about 3 hours). The second and third floors took less time (about 2 hours each) and were a little repetitive, the only difference between the two being the merchandise displays and, for the third floor, the chandelier. The roof and sign took the least amount of time to assemble (about 1 hour). All in all, this is one of my favorite sets EVER. There are tons of little details to admire, like the revolving door, the dressing room, the toys and other items for sale, the window displays... All of the details are amazing. The only thing I would have done differently (simply because of the large amount of pieces) would have been to package the roof separately from the third floor. The first floor pieces are all bagged together in numbered bags, as are the second floor pieces. Sorting through the bags of roof pieces with the third floor pieces mixed in did slow down the build a little, but this is a minor point and did not detract too much from the experience. It is a shame that I missed out on other sets in this line, like the Green Grocer and Cafe Corner. So make sure that you don't miss out on this one. Enjoy! "

No Escape from the Minotaur!
" Both my five year old son and I love this game. After the initial construction, which was pretty easy, we played several games in a row and we were equally matched in wins and losses, which I was worried about when we started playing. Because of the ability to move walls as well as the ever-stalking Minotaur, a 5 year old and a 33 year old can play without the elder having an advantage over the younger. When the game is over, reset is a breeze because a paper template is included so you know where to put the walls without having to look at the instructions and in less than a minute you can reset to play again. The price is about right and has been well worth it, providing hours of family fun. Enjoy! "

You're payin' for the figures...
" Just like my review title says, you're paying for the minifigures. There really isn't much to this set, which is really disappointing. The jet is nice, but nothing to write home about and the rest of the set is built to be destroyed by the Hulk, which means you have to put it back together over and over. Had this set not been designed around the Hulk, I probably would not have purchased it, which is another poor point as the glass booth in which Loki is held (in the movie) was supposed to contain the Hulk (should Bruce Banner go crazy), but the LEGO rendering of the booth is unable to house the Hulk minifigure. Huh... Anyway, knock ten dollars off and it might be worth it, otherwise, if it were not for the minifigures, I would not have made this purchase. I do recommend it, but only if you REALLY want the Hulk. "

Beautiful Sets. Well, one more than the other...
" First of all, the bad stuff... There are a couple instances in the instructions where the color of the bricks needed is very unclear, and, in at least one instance, dead wrong. Also, in the upper floor of the Pet Store, the door to the apartment is unable to completely open as it was built too close to the back wall. Those two things aside, this is a spectacular set. I was very impressed with the apartment. The furnishings are abundant and provide quite a few good ideas for folks looking to build their own custom buildings. The painting of the upper floor, with paint tray, paint can, and paint roller (with a swatch of paint on the wall) seemed a little bit lazy at first, but it grew on me the more I looked at it. I mean, even in the LEGO world, nothing is perfect. I like the rooftop garden and the downspout and other elements make this my favorite half of the set. Don't get me wrong. The Pet Store is still a good set, I just like it less than the apartment. The cages for the animals are good, but it feels like the inventory is a little low, especially since there are so many other animals LEGO makes. The apartment above the store is nice, but as I mentioned previously, the door doesn't open all the way. It is different than the other apartment which is nice, but it feels a little incomplete. As far as the minifigures go, I would have added one more; a store clerk to run the pet shop. Now, the guy in the green shirt could live in the apartment AND run the store, but I still would have liked to see another figure included. Overall, this is a very nice set and was easily constructed in about 4 hours or so, despite the sub-par instructions. Just keep a sharp eye out in a few spots. Enjoy! "

...Then They Made Me Their Chief.
" Details abound in this set. The bone cage, while not to scale from the movie, is well represented in LEGO form, and the details on the throne are fantastic. The Tribal Chief Jack Sparrow minifigure is pretty darn neat with multi-eyeball painted face, just like in the movie. The cannibals are average but the hut from which the bone cage hangs, even though it is small, is put together very well. The fire spit is also okay, although you can roast some pirates over the flames. Overall, not a bad set. A little overpriced, maybe, but a nice addition to the POTC line. "

Stickers?! Gah!
" First of all, I HATE stickers. Hate 'em. And this set has more than its fair share. Stickers aside, this is a fun set to play with. My five year old son loves the fact that he is able to spin the characters around in the Ferris Wheel and the ice cream-covered Patrick minifigure is a nice touch. The ice cream vendor booth/turnstile is pretty simplistic but does add more to the Glove World carnival feel. Other than that, my son loves playing with this set. Well worth the buy for a Spongebob fan. "

Choo-choo-choose this one...
" I bought this set for my five year old son and he loves it. First of all, the build is very easy and even though it is small, there are a lot of details, even one that is not included in the photo (a green circle wreath adorns each side of the cab). The candy canes are really cute and the wheels look fantastic. The only problem that I have is that two of the wheels do not appear to have been painted. They're missing the chrome accent that the others have and it is a little distracting, but nothing major. A nice little stocking stuffer for cheap. "

A Lot for a Little
" Hesitantly, I purchased this set, sight unseen, over the web. I bought it with the intent of maybe making it into an ornament for my Christmas tree, but when I put it together it seems far too large for that purpose, but this really is a wonderful little set and looks great when set next to the other seasonal sets. The only drawback is that it does not actually rock, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you want to look at it. Overall, a great buy that harkens back to a simpler time. "

Wonderful Winter Addition
" I have purchased all three previous winter sets and was greatly anticipating the release of this one. Overall, the set makes a great addition to the others, although I was slightly disappointed (I'll explain in a minute). First of all, the details on the snowplow were fantastic. I had anticipated that the truck would be quickly thrown in to drive up the price but the LEGO artisans did a great job on its construction and I was pleasantly surprised. The tool shed and igloo were also nice touches and well constructed. As far as the cottage itself goes, that's where I was a little let down. The kitchen part of the model looks amazing although play is a little restricted due to the upper floor. The fireplace, chair and Christmas tree all look great, but what I did not like is that there were no stairs or ladder to reach the second floor. The bedroom window was also a disappointment as it is not functional (how's the little boy going to look out the window on Christmas Eve for Santa's sleigh?), but the window in front of the chandelier is functional??? Who's looking out there? Anyway, minor points. I would have deleted the chandelier and made another bedroom over the living room, adding a staircase to reach those rooms, but that's just me (I mean, where do the parents sleep, c'mon LEGO!). Not a bad addition though because the good parts overcome the bad. "

Incredible Build
" This set is the crown jewel of my LEGO collection, which is really saying a lot. The set took a long time to build (about 6 hours), but it was well worth it. Tons of details and minimal amounts of stickers made this set completely worthwhile, and the minifigures are top notch. The Monster and Zombie used as butler and cook while Lord and Lady Vampyre rule the house. The ghosts were a nice touch as well and everything about it screams Haunted House. My only "complaint" is that the inside of the house feels a little lacking in furnishings, but I suppose that this could be an opportunity to furnish it myself. Overall, this is an incredible build and it looks amazing. Instructions were clear and parts bagged by number for easy assembly. This one won't be taken apart for a very long time. "
