"For most super hero sets, I buy them for the mini figures and usually don't care for the vehicles. This set is an exception. The vehicle is a clever build and has many interesting/reusable parts.
The great vehicle plus well done mini figures make for good play value.
This would make for a great birthday/Christmas gift."
"I had a great time building this ship, and it continues to inspire me to add and modify it. I don't care much for the dragon and immediately scrapped it for parts.
The transforming engine mechanics are well done. I missed the swooping red engines that I identify with Destiny's Bounty, so I rebuilt then engines to look how I think they should.
There are plenty of "unfinished" areas on the ship that inspire upgrades and additions, like pegs on the sides of the deck, above the cabin and in front of the mast.
I really appreciate that the designers made a handle that drops down from the desk to hold while playing with the ship, but it is small and flimsy compared to the ship and doesn't work very well. The ship is large and not easy to play "fly" around. If you like to make engine noises and fly your ship around, I recommend Ronin's R.E.X., which has a sturdy handle and is easy to fly around.
The sail plastics were not packaged flat with the instructions and were scuffed and bent. The sails remain bent and need fussed over when I move them from one position to the other."
"I mostly bought this set for the hot dog stand and pigs. I love the new hot dog bun piece, and am looking forward to seeing how MOC builders use the piece. It would be nice if they included more than one of this piece. I'm looking forward to the release of the Friends hot dog food truck set so I can collect more.
I like the color palette of the set, and will likely use many of the parts to add to my Cloud Cuckoo Palace.
I concur with other reviews that the pig phone pylon that acts as a base/holder for rails breaks off easily, but think that it will get more stable as the flexible rails are held in position for awhile and mold to the shape.
I can easily set off all the mechanisms with a gentle tap of my finger.
I found it odd that one of the base pillars is composed of transparent panels. Maybe representative of glass panels from the game, or maybe a plot point in the movie?"
"This set is very well designed. It has many great parts, plenty of details that make for fun play, and it is sturdy and easy to hold.
Pulling the rip cord not only launches the flyer, but it spins the engine blades. Well done design. Unfortunately the rip cord has a tab down one side that makes it impossible to change the build from a right to left handed pull. ( I would rather hold the model with my right hand and pull with the left)
I love the articulated cockpit that has a fold down canopy and fold up chair so the pilot can sit right against the canopy, but is still easy to get in and out. The figures can't wear their weapons while in the cockpit, but there are four clips on the wall behind them to stow their weapons. The two upper clips work well with both katanas and stud shooters. Unfortunately, the lower two clips don't work well for either. The katana will fit if you bend them. I'd like to figure out a better way to stow weapons and modify the design.
The set includes the Sword of Sanctuary and a deepstone aeroblade.
This set includes at least eight stickers. I hate putting the stickers on, particularly in instances like the winglets on this set where the sticker goes in the middle of a large area with no edge to reference. Also, stickers NEVER age/wear well."
"The primary reason I bought this set was to get the balloon parts in brown. I was disappointed to find that there are only seven balloon parts in this set, and it takes eight to make a complete balloon.
I love the brown trigger pieces on the stud-shooter bricks. I intend to add them to my custom MetalBeard figure/mech.
Zane is sporting a new pearl gold epaulet sword holder. I like the design, but it would have matched better if it was pearl dark gray instead of pearl gold. I would also like to see the ninja get weapon holders that match their weapons of choice, and not always all get katana holders."
"I love the mini-balloon vehicle in this set. I made a second one to sit on my monitor at work.
I also like the Sqiffy flyer vehicle and hung that from the ceiling above my desk.
So far as I've seen, this is the only set with "ghost" Cole. I would rather have a ghost Cole minifigure made with transparent parts, but this is the next best thing.
Nya is my favorite, but I like other versions of her in other sets better. I would like to see her hairstyle updated to work with the half face masks the boys often wear.
Both Cole and Nya have new pearl gold epaulet sword holders. I like them, and hope they will also come in pearl dark gray.
The DogShank figure is interesting. I don't like that many of the "big" figures are hunched over, looking down, and don't articulate at the waist. They don't display on shelves very well.
While I like the top floor of the structure, I don't care much for the rest of the build. Fake rock is not my thing, and the reptile head door isn't well done."
"The parts, on the whole, in this set can be found in many other sets.
I took it apart immediately after I built it.
LEGO Designers: please consider making the ball and socket pieces in Mixel sets colors that match the sets. I generally like Mixels sets, but now have more black and gray ball and socket, etc pieces than I could ever use."
"A great little set with interesting pieces. The two alternate builds are both stretches that don't use all the parts, but kept me interested and engaged.
Great value, and I'd recommend getting extra copies for gifts."
