Fight with the Wookiees!
" Okay, so this battle pack is very fun, along with all the Episode III sets, because we're getting really awesome Phase II clone troopers. Pricing is a minor detail, my real thing was that they changed the battle packs back from suddenly having two good guys and two enemies back to just four good guys, so the playability is a little low without another set.
SWAMP SPEEDER: The swamp speeder was a vehicle we actually saw as early as 2010, in a Clone Wars set with Bariss Offee and a clone. This one, while much smaller, is actually more fun. It stays together a lot easier, and has room for two people. It is weaponless on its own, but if you put on the clones' blasters on the clips at the front, they can count as cannons, which brings me to my next point: LOVE the new guns. While they aren't much for looks, and you have to have the figure in your hand to operate his gun while he's holding it, these blasters actually fire their one-stud, blue tips! How cool is that? Great touch, LEGO. Anyway, the swamp speeder is pretty cool and goes great with all the other Kashyyk sets.
MINIFIGURES:
-Scout Troopers: There are two scout troopers in the set, and both have been largely remodeled since their debut in 2005. They have fully new, specially molded helmets, and lots of cool camoflauge printing. Their faces are the new movie clone heads, with battle-hardened expressions and bared teeth. Great men for Yoda.
-Kashyyk Clone Commanders: These two feature slightly different body armor than the scouts, with lighter legs and the standard Phase II helmets (only in camo). They have the same heads and guns. Also great Kashyyk troops, even if there are actually a LOT less of them than the scouts in the movie.
OVERALL: The clones and speeder make a great edition to any Star Wars jungle battle on their own, but it would still be nice for LEGO to stick with the split side battle packs introduced in 2013. Battle pack prices also seem to get higher every year by a dollar, but that'll always be the issue. Great set!

I am Batman.
" Okay, so I'm a much bigger Marvel fan than I am of DC, but even so, I like to mess around with Batman once in a while and get some dramatic, brutal fights going on :P. This is my third Batman set and I must say it actually is quite a satisfying purchase.
BATBOAT: The Batboat is probably my most favorite Bat-vehicle ever. Since seeing the Killer Croc set from 2006 online, I've always wanted to get one. LEGO did a fantastic job remaking it. The Batboat has a simple, "flatter" build to it, and almost resembles the Batplane in the main body construction. It has the standard Batfin and exhaust in the back, a cockpit with a flip-open glass piece, and can fire several discs, which go much further than any flick-fire missile I'll ever see. The best use of a $20 Batman set.
ICE CAGE: There's not too much to say about the ice cage. It's built up with white and clear blue pieces, and can be broken apart by means of pushing down the flooring from the outside. It can hold any DC minifigure you want it too, except for Mr. Freeze himself, since his big ice suit gets in the way.
MINIFIGURES:
-Batman: Batman is always a really cool minifigure (the Dark Knight one is awesome) and this version is no less considering it's new colors. For the theme of ice in this set, Batman has got himself an all new white cape and outfit to battle Freeze in. His mask is the newer kind, with better ears and a cooler mold to it than the less recent sets. His head has a serious face and a grinning face, and a white band stretching across his forehead so his mask can have glassy, screened eyes. He's got the standard Bat-outfit printing on it, and is equipped with two Batarangs. My complaint with Batman is the same as it will always be with the clone troopers: LEGO, we want our guys masks/helmets OFF sometimes...hair pieces would be lovely in the very near future.
-Aquaman: Supposedly the highlight in the set, Aquaman is an exclusive minifigure that has green legs, and orange torso printed with muscles and "scaly" looking outfit. He has a serious face and an angry face, and long, messy yellow hair. He is equipped with a gold trident. A great superhero to add to your Justice League.
-Mr. Freeze: I must say, this figure's design is a disappointment compared to the old one. His face is angry and a cold blue, and really looks just fine. His torso and legs have great ice suit printing. His gun and mask however, are nothing to brag about. The whole slide on suit thing is much too chunky and large, and a good old fashioned helmet like the last one would have worked a lot better. His gun is just a bit too cheesy, using a lightsaber blade to represent a freeze ray and the build of the gun just not really working for me in the looks. It may just be me.
OVERALL: I don't really care for the Mr. Freeze, but I'm sure there are plenty of folks who will be just fine with it. The Batman and Aquaman are really cool, as is the Batboat. I would totally recommend this set.

These lands are crawling with Orcs.
" This set, while a little low on playability by itself (just because of the amount of minifigures. It's only a twenty buck set.), goes great with the Dol Guldur Battle so is totally worth getting.
GATE OF DOL GULDUR: The main part of this set is the little rocky overhang to walk into Dol Guldur. It is built mostly by gray bricks with a few vines and such to give it that haunted, overgrown castle look. There's not much else to say about it; it has a feature where a chunk of rock and some axes can swing out to hit somebody who is walking through the gate. The Orcs also have a miniature catapult, which obviously launches rocks.
MINIFIGURES:
-Beorn: The skin-changer is the highlight in this set, an exclusive figure who, while as of yet, has not been at Dol Guldur, is a great guy to have to beat up orcs. He has brown legs and a mostly bare torso, wearing fur and armor. His head is permanently inside his long hair/beard piece, which I would have preferred otherwise, so that his face could have another expression besides angry. He is armed with an axe and is a very formidable opponent for the orcs and a great ally for the dwarves.
-Orcs: There are two orcs that come in this set, the same as all the other orcs save that these two have hair pieces. One is armed with a mace and one with a sword. Always good to have more bad guys.
OVERALL: It's a really big thing to have Dol Guldur Battle before or right after you get the Ambush, otherwise it'll get boring and low on playability. But as long as you have that, this is a great set with a rare minifigure and a satisfying purchase.

Kill the She-Elf!
" This set is a great way to build up an army of both elves and orcs, and it also goes great with the Mirkwood Spiders set. However, like the spiders, it is more of a twenty dollar set than thirty. Still, the price must be forgotten eventually, as it has to change with the economy. Sigh.
ELF FORTRESS: The castle itself consists of merely a battlement wall and a tree tower containing supplies and a catapult. There is room for all the elves to take archery positions and for the Orcs to use their brickbuilt ladder to attack the post. The fortress can fold up at the walls to form a smaller outpost or just for easy storage. It is well built and has lots of armory details, including some elven shields and barrels. Very well built, just not big enough for the price.
MINIFIGURES:
-Thranduil: The king of the Mirkwood Elves is very well made, with an exclusive body decorated with robes and a cape that is dark red on one side and light brown on the other. I haven't seen a double sided cape since Lando Calrissian in the 2006 Cloud City, so this must be a rarity. He has a serious face and an angry face, and has a rubber hair piece that drapes down over his shoulders and has a crown attached. He comes with a standard battle sword.
-Elf Guards: There are three elves included besides Thranduil, two wear green hoods and one has a brown hair piece with pointed ears. They all have the same face, one serious and one angry. They have the same torso and legs, printed with elvish armor. The one with the hair has two elf daggers (the same ones that Tauriel has), and the other two have bows. Great army builders.
-Orcs: There are two orcs in the set, labeled as Gundabad Orcs since they are the Hobbit kind and are well-improved from any other orcs. They have tan skin and orc armor printing, with goblin-like, angry faces. One has an extra armor piece with shoulder spikes. One has a spear and another has a large, chunky sword. There is also a brown Warg included in the set for an Orc to ride with a saddle. Also great army builders.
OVERALL: This set has great value in enlarging your overall Hobbit minifigure collection and has the exclusive Thranduil figure as well. It is not a thirty dollar set by a long shot, but goes great with the Barrel Escape and Mirkwood Spiders sets to ultimately recreate the first forty minutes of the Hobbit LEGO style.

That'll be the door.
" So I'm a big fan of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, and this was my first set to get in the collection, and it was well worth $50, just not $60. However, playability and value helps it out.
BAG END: The entire set is made up solely of Bilbo Baggins' home in the Shire. It consists of the front, part of the inside, and the top (roof). The outside is mainly Bilbo's garden, which has some carrot stalks sticking out of the ground and a bucket full of vegetables. The yard is surrounded by a brickbuilt wooden fence and gate; unfortunately stickers are involved here. The outside of the house itself has a lot of special windows with flowers on the outside, and also a round, green door (printed! yay) with a gold doorknob and the mark that Gandalf puts in the corner. The roof/top of the house has a rounded, built-up look to it, and at the very top there is an apple tree. A chimney also sits on the top, and travels down to the inside to be the fireplace. On the inside, there is the fireplace, a table with six stools to sit on, as well as some shelves and a place for Bilbo's book to sit. The room is full of props and details, including some mugs and pots, bowls, a broom, a LOT of various foods including grapes, bread, chicken legs, sausages, apples, carrots, etc. There is also Bilbo's book (stickers again), Sting the sword, the Ring, and an envelope. Overall, this is a GREAT house that was worth about ten bucks less than the price it is, but LEGO has put the price to piece thing behind since about three years ago, so it's nothing new.
MINIFIGURES:
-Bilbo Baggins: Bilbo is a seperate variation from his adventuring clothes, wearing short brown legs and a striped tan shirt with suspenders. Basically, the standard Shire clothing. He has two faces, one smiling and one worried (probably about his poor house being wrecked by dwarves). His hair is the new, curly mold for all the hobbits in a sandy color.
-Gandalf: Gandalf is nothing exclusive, but still a great minifigure and another way to get him. He has gray legs, a robed torso with a gray cape, and a gray pointed hat. After all, he is Gandalf the Gray. His head has bushy eyebrows and a smile, and is mostly covered by his special gray beard. He comes with a staff as well.
-Balin: One of four dwarves in the set. He has a very Santa Claus look to him, and like all the others, is very movie accurate. He has short black legs, a dark red torso with a big black belt, and a maroon cape. He has two aged faces, one smiling and one angry. He has a white piece that slides over his head to be hair and a beard. He comes with a short sword.
-Dwalin: Dwalin has short gray legs and a light green torso with bare arms. He has a greenish copper cape and a tough-looking expression. He is bald with a beard piece going all around his lower head. He comes with a brick built battle hammer.
-Bofur: Bofur has short brown legs and an orangish tan torso with a brown cape. He has two faces with a printed beard, one smiling and one angry. He has a special rubber winter hat. He comes armed with a pickaxe.
-Bombur: Bombur has short brown legs and a light green torso, but it is covered by a piece that makes up his round belly, bear, and hair with a bald spot. His face is mostly hidden, but it has a smiling face and an even bigger smiling face. He comes with a small knife and a ladle.
OVERALL: This set is very satisfying and all the dwarves in it are exclusive, plus this version of Bilbo. The set goes great with Gandalf Arrives, so you can also get the Shire version of Frodo. A little less expensive would have been nice, but ultimately its worth it.

And a lovely little pig
" My brother got this set and the Nether, and I have to say, they're more fun than I expected. However, I would prefer to have had a lot more micro mobs, not only just to match a $34 dollar price but also to add to more playability.
THE VILLAGE: The village is accurate to the classic computer game, with two buildings, a garden, and some mountains in the background. It is built up with gray bricks until you reach the surface, so you also get two mining sections underground, including minecart rails and TNT bricks so that an exploding feature can happen.
MICROMOBS:
VILLAGERS- There are two villagers included in the set counting all the extra pieces (bonus). They are built up with one stud flat pieces in the form of legs, body, mouth, nose, eyes, and head. Fun figures, but mostly for Steve to kill since they make annoying sounds and bad trades in the game.
ZOMBIE- If you have an extra one stud, tall blue brick, then you can have two zombies as well. The zombies are built with Steve's pieces until the head, which is green pieces printed with a mouth, nose, and eyes, and head. They go great with the creeper from the Minecraft set as well. Perfect mobs to add to the collection.
PIG- My favorite mob in the set. He is made up of a standard one stud pink brick with a stud on two ends so that one can represent his tail and the other has on his head, a flat piece printed with the pig's face. The pig is the funnest mob to have, and there is an extra head, so finding a pink one stud from something else could make you a baby pig.
OVERALL: This set goes great with all the other Minecraft sets, which you kind of have to have to get a lot of fun out of it, since you need all the mobs, especially Steve. However, this still has some play value to it on its own and while a little overpriced, will go for a lot of money one day when Minecraft cuts out.

Here we are, on the roof.
" So, as we all know, this set has nothing to do with the movie except for the figures. As disappointing as this can be, and as much as I would have loved for them to have forgotten this set and the Mandarin truck and just made a set with the Roxxon boat docks and a lot of Iron Man suits, this still has some value to it.
MANDARIN BOAT: The boat itself is a good sized speedboat armed with flick-fire missiles and made with the colors of dark green and black to give it the Ten Rings look. Do I even have to mention the angering use of stickers to decorate both this boat and the buoy? The boat has room for Kilian to sit and it's front side can come off to reveal space to put Kilian's gun and some dynamite, which can blow up the buoy. The buoy sits on some blue water pieces and is made up of red and gray bricks. It's main feature is exploding, therefore the dynamite.
MINIFIGURES:
IRON MAN- This is the Mark 42 armor, which also comes in the Malibu Mansion. It has fantastic and accurate printing, though if the suit had had gold arms and red hands instead of the opposite, I just feel as if it would have had a better movie effect. The suit has the standard blue pieces to make it fly, and the helmet (which is NOT that bulky, everybody) and Tony Stark's head underneath. This new head comes in all the Iron Man 3 sets, and has a cocky grin and a scared face. Personally, I like the Avengers head better, but this gives us some variety. A great minifigure that is a must-have to your Hall of Armor.
WAR MACHINE- The highlight of the set. Despite the fact that we never got an Iron Patriot (hence the boat dock battle idea, LEGO. Could have killed two birds with one stone.), and this is very disappointing, War Machine is an awesome, exclusive minfigure in a cheap set that ultimately makes up for all the faults if you let it. The torso and legs are printed with very good detailing from Iron Man 2, and the silver and gray helmet covers Rhodey's face, which is serious or angry. War Machine has red instead of blue flying pieces which fits more to that lightsaber coloring effect from the movies. He has a shoulder piece that has clipped onto it a lightsaber handle for a mini gun. A missile piece would have worked better, since the gun needs some length, but that is easily fixable. War Machine's dark grey pieces should have been black to make it look right, but that's a minor flaw. War Machine is awesome!
ALDRICH KILLIAN- Killian is wearing a tan suit and a dark blue shirt under it, which he does wear in the movie. His hair piece is not well chosen, but as long as you're an experienced collector with lots of extra stuff lying around in a bucket, it's no biggy. His face presents the same problem that the Extremis Soldier did: the glow in the dark ability. We all know that the red veins of Extremis are what glows, not the whiteness of their head. The thought is appreciated, but some accuracy would have worked well. However, since the Mandarin is not the Mandarin, this is a must-have villain.
OVERALL: The set itself is worth it only for War Machine, since the Malibu Mansion is a much better deal. Killian is needed as well, but if a Boat Docks Battle set with all the figures from these two sets (plus Iron Patriot) I would have paid up to 40-50 bucks, depending on the size. Nice try, LEGO.

I can do this all day.
" Captain America has been in only one other set so far, and that was for the Avengers. As our old friend Phil Coulson said, "We might just need a little old-fashioned." So here we are, with the Captain America straight from WWII.
HYDRA TANK: The only actual brick built "thing" in the set, the tank is a quick and easy yet sturdy build that is satisfying to the eye and play experience. The tank features some really cool wheels that can bend up and move around to go over unreliable terrain, as well as a rotatable turret equipped with flick-fire missiles. Unfortunately, it's decoratory parts are stickers. The set itself also features a red motorcycle for Captain America. It is a little less detailed from the Avenging Cycle, but it still gives a clip to hold his shield. Great vehicles!
MINIFIGURES:
CAPTAIN AMERICA- The hero of the set. He, along with the other figures, demonstrates very bright colors that really pop out as compared to some other figures, which is another "old fashioned" relief. This version of him has a newly designed torso with a belt containing equipment and a grinning face. He also, of course, has his infamous shield, which is a new molded piece on it's own if you didn't get him in the Avengers. Can I say right now it is a great relief that it was a printed piece. If they had made you put a sticker on the shield, I don't think I'd have even tried. All in all, a great, must-have hero.
RED SKULL- The German leader of Captain America and SHIELD's archenemy, Red Skull is an exclusive figure that has a special torso made up of a black outfit and a silver belt with the HYDRA skull on it. He comes with the Tesseract/Cosmic Cube, so if you also missed that from the Avengers, here's your next oppurtunity. His red head has bared teeth and an angry expression. A great villain.
HYDRA TROOPER- The HYDRA agent is actually a pretty cool henchman, wearing a green and yellow outfit (which leans more to the comic side than the movie side) and a helmet that doesn't show his eyes but does reveal his mouth, which also has clenched teeth. He goes great with Red Skull and makes for another disposable bad guy, though it would have been nice if he and Red Skull could have come with guns. Not sure what that was about.
OVERALL: Since we all have extra sidearms lying around (especially all those darn Alien Conquest guns, though those would have actually fit well as advanced HYDRA weapons in this set), my only real con is that the tank is a bit small for the price. Another HYDRA soldier would have cleared this. The set has a lot of playability and goes well with any other superhero battle. A good, old-fashioned playset.

Ain't nothing like me...'cept me.
" This set, along with Malibu Mansion, is probably the most fun I've ever had with a Marvel LEGO. Though Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't come out till August, I think we're all itching to play with these guys, especially Rocket and Groot, who look like they're gonna be the best shoot to thrill duo since Die Hard 3.
KNOWHERE BASE: So, I don't actually know the legitimate name of the base or vehicle, so bear with me on that. The base includes a tower with a turret on it, a small mount for the orb (is that another Infinity tool?) and a little pod area where I think the little pod can be mounted. The tower has a toppling effect, which helps the playability range, the turret can be dismounted, and other features include the silver orb piece itself and a ladder. The turret has a pretty cool build and a laser piece that fits in with the flick-fire missile. I'm not sure of all the details yet, but it's a pretty cool base all the same.
THE GRABBER POD: The pod is a small blue vehicle in which everyone but Groot can fit in. It has a flip open cockpit, two claws for grabbing things (most likely the orb) and a very interesting feature in the back: the back door can open up to spill out some clear yellow pieces. The full purpose of this is yet to be revealed, but it reminds me of Obi-Wan Kenobi emptying out his starfighter's spare parts to escape from Jango Fett's missile. Maybe...
MINIFIGURES:
GROOT- One of two highlights minifigure-wise in this set. A bit taller than he'll be in the movie based on the trailers, he is mostly brick built save for a special torso/head mold. His face has a determined grin on it, and his legs and arms have A LOT of cool possibilites for action poses. His biggest feature on the box is his arm's spot for Rocket to sit on and fire his big gun, which he also does in the trailer.
ROCKET RACCOON: Rocket is an amazing figure to build, as it's not often you get to put on a tail on a minifigure and actually have it look like a tail. Rocket has short orange legs, an orange torso with printing for a jumpsuit/parachute/commando outfit looking thing. His head is a special mold as well, so that he can be an oversized raccoon. His gun has an all new brick piece to start on (I'd love to get a few of these just by themselves in another set) and a few other standard pieces to come together to make a machine rifle bigger than Rocket himself. Trust me, it is the most fun you'll have with this wave of Marvel sets to make him sit up on Groot's shoulder and shoot apart every bad guy in sight.
SAKAARAN SOLDIER- Welcome to the cannon fodder of Guardians. This guy has a fancy, armor/robed torso that looks like their race might have a little medieval/magic mix to them. He is armed with his own special gun mold, and wears a black hood. His head has two sides, one with a mask revealing only one eye, and another, much creepier, face that reveals a screeching monster resembling Venom.
NEBULA- We don't know much about her, except it is evident that she is a villain. Looking to be the evil equivalent of Gamora, she wears a purple outfit, has a blue head with a cocky look and is armed with two black swords. Despite the cluelessness we have on her until the movie, she goes great fighting the master assassin from the Milano Spaceship Rescue.
OVERALL: This set is a whole ammo clip full of fun to play with and still entertaining to just display in awesome ways. I would prefer if it were five to ten dollars less, but LEGO has been raising the prices since 2012, so it's no new thing. I would recommend this to any Marvel fan.

Back to the Future
" I was amazed to learn that LEGO and CUUSOO were working together on this product. I myself had tried to recreate the famous car several times and failed, and now we have a fantastic model that is beyond what you could ask for.
THE DELOREAN: The car is the only part you actually get in the set, which could lead you to doubt it's playability factors and whether or not its worth the money. It is. The car is a compact and solid build, and is packed with features from the movie. The wheels are created to turn so that the car can fly (if you are a display person, it comes with some clear pieces to boost up the car). There is also an extra brick built front and red wheels if you want to use the time machine as in the third film. The doors of the car(which are actually doors; how often does LEGO put that in?) lift up to reveal room for one minifigure, and shows (printed, not stickered thank goodness) the Flux Capacitor behind the driver's seat and in the front a steering wheel and some time circuits. It includes the destination and present times. The destination reads January 1, 1958 (when the first LEGO brick was invented) and the present time October 10, 1985. The car comes with two possible license plates, one saying OUTATIME as in the first film, and one orange plate with shiny silver bars from 2015. The last most recognizable feature is the Mr. Fusion on the back of the car, though I regret to say that it's brick built inventory hardly satisfies to the actual look. My only other thing with the time machine is that it would have looked incredibly more realistic if all the light gray pieces were shiny silver instead. It looks cooler and more true to the original car, and there's no fingerprints easily left on those :). All in all, the vehicle is amazing and a great buy, perfect for any LEGO fan.
MINIFIGURES:
-Marty McFly: Marty is recreated with perfect double sided printing as he is dressed in the first film, with jeans and a collared shirt with jeans jacket and wind breaker(what's with the life preserver?). His face has two expressions, one smiling and one confused. He comes with a purple skateboard.
-Doc Brown: Doc is also made to be in the first film, and is dressed in his radiation suit. His torso is printed with a pocket and a timer. His head is also double sided, one smiling and one scared. He has white wind blown hair.
OVERALL: The set is worth it just to have the Back to the Future scene. However, given the slight over pricing, I would have preferred a few more tweaks from each movie. I would have given up the skateboard to get the 2015 hoverboard. I also would have liked a video camera, a better Mr. Fusion, and a cap printed to be like the 2015 one that Marty Jr. wears. Overall, this is a great set and I highly recommend it.
