I Can Fly Anything!
" X-Wings are probably some of the most iconic ships in the Star Wars universe and The Force Awakens continues the legacy of X-Wings although with a few differences.
Lego have done a brilliant job of capturing the new X-Wing design and I love the colour scheme of Poe's X-Wing. The build is fun, interesting and very similar to building an Original Trilogy X-Wing with the biggest differences being the new engine design and wing design. The wing design isn't quite movie accurate, and the cockpit isn't placed exactly right but these are minor issues. Just like any X-Wing the wings can unfold into attack position by turning a piece on the top behind the cockpit. Also behind the cockpit is a space for BB-8 - Poe's loyal and lovable droid. The finished model is very sleek and the included ladder and loader add great playability to this set.
The new minifigures are fantastic! Poe Dameron's minifigure is very movie accurate and the new Resistance pilot helmet is a brilliant design - the visor is now incorporated with the helmet rather than being printed on the minifigure's face. The other two minifigures - the Resistance Ground Crew and Resistance Pilot are both highly detailed. The pieces making up BB-8 are completely new and capture the exact look of the droid.
This is a fantastic model of a slightly re-desgined classic. My only issue is that the rubber bands used to control the opening and closing of the wings are blue which is a strange colour choice. Apart from that minor issue I think this is an awesome set and perfect for all Star Wars fans! "

I've Always Wanted to Fly One of These
" That's what Poe Dameron said in The Force Awakens about the new First Order TIE Fighter. The TIE fighter is a classic - from it's unique shape to the sound of one flying past, so it's nice that TIE fighters featured in The Force Awakens with a slight re-design.
This Lego model really captures the new First Order TIE fighter and the new TIE fighter pilots are awesome! One of the most notable things about this TIE fighter is it's colour scheme - black and red - which is completely movie accurate and adds vibrant colour to an otherwise black and grey fighter. Another new feature is that the cockpit has places for two pilots - which if you've seen the Force Awakens is very useful for a certain rebel pilot and a certain stormtrooper to escape.
The build is straightforward and the only slightly repetitive part are the wings. The completed model is very, very sturdy! The connection of the wings to the body of the ship is excellent making it sturdy enough to be 'flown' around. The access to the cockpit is through 3 printed hatches, making it very easy to place the pilots in and out of the TIE fighter. The new First Order TIE fighter pilot minifigures are amazing! The new helmets are highly detailed and I love the way that the breathing tube on the helmet matches up to the printing on the minifigure torso. The only shame is that the helmet doesn't have any of the red detailing as in the film, but this is very minor. Also included are a First Order Officer and a First Order Crew minifigures. The First Order Crew minifigure's helmet is very similar to the helmets worn by the Death Star Crew from the Original Trilogy.
This set is brilliant and an amazing re-design of a classic. It's sturdy, vibrantly coloured, comes with great minifigures and looks fabulous! The only issue with it is the price - I personally feel it's slightly overpriced but that's probably due to new pieces. However this is a must have for any Star Wars, Force Awakens or TIE fighter fan! "

Rey's Jakku Speeder
" This set is really nice and a good way to start off your Force Awakens Lego collection. Albeit it's quite small it's design is good and you get two amazing minifigures.
The build is quite easy and you get a good selection of parts in dark red which is a very movie accurate colour. The design is similar to the film but it would have been nice if Rey's scavenging net had been included. Also the stud shooters on the side are a fun addition but I think they detract from the overall shape of the speeder. If you turn the speeder on it's side then it's shape is actually quite similar to Luke's land speeder. There are some stickers to apply but they do add to the detail of the speeder.
A fun feature is that when you twist the bottom engine, the side of the speeder opens, revealing a storage compartment inside. On the outside of the speeder are scavenging supplies for Rey - a blaster, a pair of binoculars and a saw.
The two minifigures included are both movie accurate and the attention to detail in their printing is amazing! Rey comes in her simple Jakku outfit with her stick and shoulder bag. Rey's triple bun hairpiece is a new piece and is completely movie accurate. Her scavenging mask is just like the movie although it does seem a bit oversized. If you've seen the film then you'll know who Unkar's thug is and why he's included in this set. Again amazing detail and a gold crowbar is quite unusual.
This set is really good and although it's small and not entirely movie accurate, I think it is worth having in any Force Awakens Lego collection. "

Master of the Knights of Ren
" The new range of Star Wars The Force Awakens build-able figures is superb and I think the designs and proportions have been improved over the first range.
This Kylo Ren build-able figure is amazing, with extreme attention to detail and is completely movie accurate. The build is quite straightforward, although it's not like building 'normal' Lego and is more like Technic. I think the proportions are very good and nothing looks too large or small (compared to the first range where Darth Vader's head looked slightly too small). Kylo Ren's helmet is a fabulous piece with loads of detail, even the scratches and dents have been captured, and is completely movie accurate. His lightsaber is also amazing! If you've seen the film then you'll know that the cross-guard isn't for cutting the user's fingers off but actually has a use in combat. The main part of the lightsaber is made of rubbery plastic whilst the cross-guard is two pieces made of plastic. It's very durable and would stand up to playing lightsaber duels.
Ren's cape and robes are made from felt and are great quality. An important part is that Ren's cape actually looks like he's wearing it, unlike Darth Vader's cloak from the first range which hangs off him limply. The cloak and robes really finish off the character and are exactly as the movie.
The pose-ability of this figure is almost limitless, so you can pose him just as you want or when playing can re-enact many scenes from the film. A cool little play feature is that you can spin Ren's lightsaber hand using a turn-able piece on his back. It's a well thought out feature and works really well. It adds to the fun and pose-ability of the figure.
I think the Kylo Ren build-able figure is truly amazing and if you're wondering which figure to get first - I would start with Kylo Ren. A must have for any Star Wars fan! "

The Force is Strong with This One
" There seems to be a bit of debate about these Star Wars build-able figures, but I think whether you like them or not they are very clever and well designed.
The Darth Vader build-able figure is a very fun build. It's not 'normal' Lego, and is in the same area as Lego Chima. The build isn't too complicated and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Once built the Sith Lord is very impressive and very imposing. The detailing is truly excellent, from his movie accurate head mould to the cape and red lightsaber, everything looks great. The proportions may seem a little odd - the head does look a bit small for the shoulders, but after a while you get used to it and it's not as noticeable.
Many of the pieces are printed, including a piece that represents Vader's life support system. The cape is strong felt and the lightsaber is made from a rubbery plastic which means it's very durable for play.
One of the great things about this model is the pose-ability of it. So many of the pieces are movable and posable. From the head, to the arms, legs and feet, and you can pose Vader in almost any position you want. This makes for fun role-playing and the ability to display Darth Vader in a pose of your choice.
This model would make either a great display piece or would be super fun to play with as the possible Star Wars scenes you could re-create are countless. This is an awesome set and one I would recommend to any Star Wars fan! "

Shuttle Tydirium What is Your Cargo & Destination?
" I've always been a fan of the design of the Imperial Shuttles. The clever way the wings fold down when flying and fold up to land makes for a very elegant and sleek ship. Lego have done a superb job of recreating the Imperial Shuttle Tydirium in bricks.
Firstly the proportions are very good. Nothing looks too big or too small. The wings are my favourite bit about this model, because they can fold up or down just as in the movies, and as an added extra even have laser blasters that can shoot surprisingly far. The landing gear can also fold up or down.
Inside there is a wonderful amount of detail. The side pieces on either side of the centre wing can rotate upwards to reveal inside the cabin. There are three seats for minifigure crew and a crate with two thermal detonators as used in Return of the Jedi on Endor. There is also a monitor showing the Death Star II surrounded by the shield above Endor.
The cockpit is movie accurate and has good detailing inside of the controls for the shuttle. You can easily fit Han and Chewy in here to fly the ship. Chewy seems to fit fine in the cockpit but any problems could be due to the fact that ..'Well I don't think the Empire had Wookies in mind when they designed her Chewy.' !
The minifigures are very detailed and very well thought out. Included are Han Solo in his Endor outfit, with detailed printing of his camouflage trench coat. Princess Leia also in her Endor outfit with her camouflage poncho and two Endor rebels. The new Chewbacca minifigure is simply amazing! The detailing Lego has achieved is astounding! Altogether a great selection of minifigures, although it would have been nice to have Luke in his Endor outfit.
All in all this is a fabulous set and a worthy addition of any Lego collection. This is a very movie accurate set of the Shuttle Tydirium and the build is enjoyable and not particularly difficult. It looks great on display but would also be super fun to play with! "

Scooby Doo! There's a Swamp Creature!
" Quite a few of the Scooby Doo episodes involved the gang solving a mystery in and around a lighthouse that was haunted by some monster. This set does a really good job of capturing a spooky terrain with a practical looking lighthouse.
The build starts by building the motor boat with the classic Mystery Machine colouring of azure blue and lime green. It's very solid, well thought out, and comes with a pair of water skis. Scooby Doo is meant to drive the boat and so is in a sitting position. Finally we get a Shaggy variant! His torso is printed with seaweed and shells on it due to the fact that he's water skiing behind Scooby.
Next we move onto the landscape that surrounds the lighthouse. It's built up using lots of greens and greys, and the rocks shaped like a skull can be made to rotate upwards to reveal a secret cave. It's been very cleverly designed with lots of hidden features - like a map under some wooden boards.
The lighthouse itself is a strong design and I like the dark red and white colouring. Inside there's a kitchen (almost all of the Scooby Doo sets have kitchens) and on the second floor there is a large cobweb complete with spider. The light part of the lighthouse lifts up on a hinge to reveal a secret compartment inside which there is a key. This is supposed to go with the treasure chest included with the set which unusually is sand brown rather than dark brown.
The minifigures are awesome. The swamp creature is unusual and comes with a gold trident. The Lighthouse Keeper has a glow in the dark head and is a suitably creepy looking villain. Daphne is only available in this set and the Haunted Mansion and is completely true to character. Shaggy and Scooby Doo are also highly detailed and true to character.
This set is truly wonderful with it's attention to detail and all the hidden surprises. A worthy addition to the Scooby Doo range and to anybody's collection! "

I am a Jedi
" The most dramatic and climatic scenes in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, happened in the Emperor's throne room aboard the Death Star II. Luke Skywalker battled Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader in one of the biggest good versus evil showdowns the galaxy has ever seen, and this is what this Lego set is all about.
The Emperor's throne room was one of the gloomiest, darkest and most foreboding places in the Star Wars trilogy, and Lego have done an excellent job in capturing this in brick from. The colouring is mostly grey due to the fact that the Imperials were rather Spartan, however Lego break this up a bit by using splashes of dark red and translucent blue.
The set is actually very accurate to the movie. In the centre you have the Emperor's throne and on either side you have the translucent blue light towers. Behind the Emperor's throne you have the window, and a cool little feature is a pop up lightsaber for added fun and playability. You can also lift away the part on which the throne sits, so that you can recreate the part of Luke and Vader's duel that happens underneath. ("You have feelings for your friends. Especially......sister")
To the left of the throne is then the catwalk, which again is in quite an accurate position, especially if you rotate it round. The catwalk is fully collapsable, and all you have to do is knock away the supporting pillar. Again this is all very accurate to the film and means you can re-enact that part of the duel too. ("Your thoughts betray you father. I can feel the good in you. The conflict")
The reactor shaft is where things deviate the most from the movie. In the film Vader throws Palpatine off the bridge and down into the reactor shaft, however in this Lego set the shaft is placed to the right. This isn't major and means that the bridge is extendable for display purposes. So finally you can re-enact the most climatic scene of the whole film and throw Plapatine to his doom.
The minifigures of this set are truly amazing! The new Darth Vader is worth the money alone. With his new helmet that comes apart in two pieces so that you can recreate the most emotional scene of the whole film - "Luke. Help me remove this mask. Just for once. So that I can look on you with my own eyes". It is also the most movie accurate version to date. Another thing is that they have finally got Vader's face right. It's pale, scarred, and with a slight smile for that end scene with Luke. Luke's another great minifigure with accurate torso printing of his Jedi Knight outfit, and comes with sand brown hair rather than blond. The Emperor's minifigure is just as scary as the character with an evil grimace, Sith eyes and Dark Side lightning. Also included are Royal Guards with new dark red arms and hands, and come with new film accurate weapons.
This set is super awesome! It's perfect as both a role play toy due to it's many fun features, and as a display item. If you want to re-create the duel in the throne room then this is the perfect set. A must have for all Star Wars fans! "

Birds of a Feather Stick Together
" The Lego Birds are pure genius! I am glad that this Lego Idea became an approved product, as the birds are simply stunning. They come in a beautiful box reminiscent of the Architecture range, and with an instruction booklet for each bird that gives a background on it's real counterpart.
The Robin is such an iconic bird with it's red chest, beautiful song and cheeky personality, and it's Lego model is my personal favourite. The shape is just right, along with the colouring, and the detail is extraordinary - even the feet have been captured in Lego.
Next up is the Bluejay. Unlike it's European cousin, the American Bluejay has much brighter colouring and patterning, and again this has been captured excellently in Lego form. The blue is just the right colour, the patterning on the wings and tail is wonderful, and the beak and feet look just like they should.
Lastly is the Hummingbird, which not only comes with a stand but also a very beautiful flower. Out of the three of them, this is the trickiest shape to achieve due to the outstretched wings. However once finished the model looks wonderful, and you can pose the hummingbird to look as if it is sipping nectar from the flower.
This is a beautiful set and a fantastic example of what you can create from Lego. The birds look amazing and are perfect for display. The plaques with the Latin names on are a wonderful touch. My only issue with the set is that the birds are a bit heavy for their stands and so are a little wobbly. However this is a minor issue.
The Birds Lego set is simply stunning and a must have for Lego fans! "

The Sandcrawler
" The Sandcrawler is a very memorable vehicle from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, due to it's capturing of C-3PO and R2-D2 and then the Jawas selling them to Uncle Owen and Luke Skywalker.
This Lego set does a marvellous job of capturing the Sandcrawler's size, shape, unusual angles, and colouring. This is a very detailed model, and comes not only with C-3PO and R2-D2 but also most of the other droids that the Jawas were selling. The Jawas themselves are great minifigures, complete with hoods and glowing eyes. Also included are Luke in his regular Tatooine outfit, although a great upgrade from previous versions, and with better hair. Uncle Owen is a great minifigure and captures the character perfectly.
The build itself is rather tricky, there's lots of technic pieces and unusual techniques used to create the Sandcrawler's unusual angles. The detail is wonderful, with plenty of playability as the Sandcrawler moves very well, although making the tracks for the wheels is time consuming and a bit repetitive. Inside there's a crane and plenty of storage for droids that the Jawas 'find', and almost all of the panels lift up or down to reveal areas inside.
The instruction booklet is amazing, and gives lots of detail about the original Sandcrawler, including pictures of original blueprints and photos of scenes from the films. There's also a very interesting interview with the design team about how they created the model.
This is an awesome set and looks great as a display piece. If you're a lego fan or a Star Wars fan, or both, then this is a must have! "
