" This prisoner transport set was a must for me as I missed out on the old one. It goes very nicely with the old police station that was released in 2008, but is a bit bigger than what you might expect.
I was hoping that this van could fit into one of the garages in the police station. Unfortunately, it doesn't. It's too high, but that shouldn't detract from the set or discourage you from buying it.
There's 3 sections to the police van - firstly, the cab, which follows a similar build to Lego city vehicles in the past. Behind this is a compartment for storing equipment. The final section at the rear is to transport the prisoner and contains 1 chair. Unfortunately, you can only fit 1 figure in here comfortably.
This set also comes with a motorbike - it reminds me more of a dirt bike - and a prisoner with one of the new rucksacks that have been released this year.
All in all, a very good set and a valuable addition to anyone's police force! "

" I'm sorry, but I can't look favorably on the latest series of collectible figures. The main problem I have is the pricing - $5 for a minifig? And what's worse, $5 for a minifig that I may not want?
I have to say, I wouldn't complain if I knew what I was getting - even if it is overpriced, it's still my decision to buy the product. The thing is, I don't know what I'm buying. And that's my main gripe. The barcodes in the previous series at least guaranteed me a full set. Now, I have to feel through the packets and as much as I hate to say it, it's really hard to distinguish what is in each pack. I spent 40 minutes just identifying 5 figures - and that's annoying.
Having said all that, some positives. The elf is just great. The new longbow combined with the shield makes this a very handsome figure. The baseball and tennis players were also very well designed. I loved the snowboarder as well and she looks very good next to the skier from series 2. Finally, I picked up the pilot - which I didn't really want (I was after the Samurai instead). Nothing special here, except for perhaps a wasted $5.
I hate to say it - I love you Lego - but this product is not worth it. It's overpriced but the worst thing is paying so much for something that you may not want. It's not really fair - just think about it. "

" I have to say that I really liked this set. It's a great addition to the police theme and I was pleased to see that Lego decided to maintain the primary blue and white colors, which meant that this set went quite well with the previous police theme.station released in 2008.
The build is overall quite simple - the front cab is similar to the police vehicle in past years. The rear of the vehicle where the dog is transported is built separately and attaches onto the main vehicle at the end of the building process. One problem you may find is that you can't "fix" the dog into place whilst in the van - the floor is like one big tile so you can hear the dog move around quite a lot during play.
The police minifig comes with the new baseball cap whereas the dog has a lighter brown color than in previous sets and also has a new printing on it's nose. I would have to say that both are welcome improvements!
Overall, this is a simple but fun set, and best of all is that you can add this to your existing police collection from 2008 since the colors are primarily the same (the blue in this set is slightly darker, but you need to look quite hard to notice this). "

" This is probably the best set in the Kingdom's line to date as it is reasonably priced and offers good playability.
The build is rather straightforward and the Dragon Knight's catapult works quite well. The actual outpost is rather small and I did have some issues with the design - in particular the open doorway (aren't outposts meant to defend the Kingdom and therefore, be hard to take??) but overall, I have to say that this set would be money well spent. " This was the first Ninjago set that I bought. It's much better value than the starter packs and in my opinion offers greater playability too although I know that some people may not agree.
This set comes with 2 figures - Kai and a Skeleton warrior. In addition, it comes with a well designed "bamboo grove" from which Kai can spring a surprise attack, hence the title of this set. I have to say that the way in which the bamboo wall splits apart and Kai comes flying out works very well - almost too well as Kai ends up flying quite a long way.
The only problem I had was the use of a Skeleton as the opposing faction. It seems a little strange, as this theme attempts to mix ancient history (the ninja's) with science fiction (skeleton warriors). I felt that the use of Samurai would have been more appropriate for this theme, but that's just my two cents worth.
Overall, a very good starter set for the Ninjago theme, and at a reasonable price as well. This would be a set that will complement later sets well, but as a stand alone set, is rather limited due to the size (or lack) of it. I would recommend this set if you intend to buy additional sets in this theme - otherwise, you may want to give it a miss. "

" This castle reminds me of set 6080 - the original King's castle released back in 1984. I have to say that though this is not a bad set, I still prefer the older set as it was much better value for money and came with 12 minifigures as opposed to only 8 in this set.
Overall, this set is probably more impressive in terms of appearance. The Gatehouse at the front is very impressive, although I do miss the old mechanism of raising the drawbridge. The porticulus comes pre-made - it's one big plastic piece although the method by which it is raised is extremely well designed.
The build in general is straightforward. I do however miss the use of a baseplate like in the old days. Nowadays Lego seem to prefer using basic plates on which to construct it's castles which means that you have an empty space for a courtyard. Of course, this isn't a problem until you want to move the set and realise that there are a heap of things that you've placed in the courtyard. Speaking of the courtyard, it's extremely small. Though the width of the castle is impressive, the length is not. In addition, the prison at the back in tiny - only 2 studs wide and you would struggle to place a minifig in there.
The other major problem I have with the set is with both rooms/tower in the back corners. Two of the walls are missing on each - I can understand if 1 was missing to allow you to place things in the rooms, but when two are missing, it just looks odd. Think that Lego was trying to save on the number of bricks here, but it is a design flaw that affects the appearance from the back.
Lastly, the minifigures. Like I said, 20+ years ago, we use to get 12 in a set of this size. Lately, the number of minifigures is getting less and less. I don't understand it. This set certainly is not cheap and it wouldn't have hurt to add a couple more figures in this set. In addition, another horse would have been nice. Set 6080 came with 4!
Overall, it's OK. It brings back a lot of fond memories, but I would still take 6080 any day (maybe I'm biased). A set to get if you have some spare cash lying around, but definitely not the best that Lego has produced in 2010. Then again, it may be Lego being a victim of it's own high standards - the 2010 sets were, in general, excellent. "

" This has to be one of the best sets that Lego has come up with in recent years. Once built, it just looks amazing and makes me regret not buying the Greengrocer or Cafe Corner sets when I had the chance.
This set is built in 3 stages - so all the bags are numbered from 1 to 3. The first stage (all the bags numbered 1 ) involves the building of the ground floor and the sidewalk. The building of the sidewalk may be a little tedious for some as there are a lot of small pieces involved, but I have to say that I was in Lego utopia during this whole time and didn't mind one bit. You soon start to realise that it's a very intricate design and that an incredible amount of thought has been put into this set.
The ground floor consists mainly of a clothing and jewelry department as well as a cashier (the only one in the whole shop strangely enough) and a very clever changing room. The escalator appears very realistic as well, and the sign which says "Shop" has a very clever build.
The second stage is the construction of the second floor. Some interesting building techniques utilised here, particularly with the curved appearance of the windows above the "Shop" sign. The second floor consists of kitchenware - having said this, I felt that a lot more could have been done on the interior of this floor as there appears to be a lot of empty space left and leaves it looking somewhat bare.
The third stage involves the construction of the third floor and the roof. Again, the construction of the third floor is similar to the second - and again, the detail on the interior is lacking a little. It's a toy section but there is again a lot of space that is not used up and I feel that Lego may have missed an opportunity to really make this a truly unforgetable set by just adding a little more detail here and there, but I have to say that I am being extra critical in saying that.
Two things that do stand out for me in this section are the construction of the chandelier (just superb) and the construction of the bill board. I am constantly amazed at how Lego come up with such amazing and realistic designs, but at the same time, I guess that why Lego is such a great product.
One last thing I will say - again, there's not enough minifigs with this set. You get 2 store workers - not even 1 per floor which I would have thought would be a minimum requirement - 2 shoppers (a boy and possibly his mum) and a window cleaner. So there's no one to manage the ice cream stand outside. I think that a couple more minifigs would have been welcome here, especially given the cost and size of this set. However, despite this, I have to say that this overall is a set for every Lego fan - no regrets, and well worth the price tag, even despite a couple of very minor issues. "

" This is another excellent set by the Lego group but is let down by the fact that in Australia, it's quite expensive. Having said that, the US and European prices for this set are very good.
This set is built in 4 stages; so all the bags are numbered from 1 to 4 depending on which stage they belong too.
The first stage is the building of the minifigs as well as the Clone Walker and the Command centre. Very simple and straightforward here. The Walker has a nice design - much improved on the walker in the Clone Battle pack last year.
The second stage is the build of the skeleton of the tank. A lot of technic pieces are used here and this section may feel that you're building a technic set rather than a conventional Lego set.
The third stage is to build the wheels of the tank and attach them onto the skeletal frame that you built in stage 2. The is very monotonous - the instructions are repetititve here as you have 5 pairs of wheels to construct and attach.
The fourth and final stage is the construction of the panals that provide us with the exterior of the tank, Again, because of symmetry, you build a lot of panels twice. The stage is perhaps the most rewarding however as you get to see the tank come together and the whay in which the panels are attached show the intricacy and intelligence in the overall design of this set. It was also a pleasant surprise to see how the command centre and walker could attach to the panels by a sliding mechanism, so they remain in a fixed position within the tank rather than rolling around freely.
A couple of main issues - firstly, the floor of the main troop compartment is only 4 stud wide - this leaves a very large gap between the side panel and the floor of the tank. It could easily have been made to be six stude wide, thereby providing more space of additional clones.
Secondly, only 2 clones?? The upside however, is the inclusion of Aayla Secura, although we really didn't need another Anakin did we?
Overall, a very intelligent design, the build is a bit boring but playability (number of clones aside) is excellent. A must have if you live in Europe of the U.S., in other parts of the world, wait for a sale. "

" This set has some nice designs, especially that of the Xtreme speed boat, but as the title suggests, there are way too many sticker with this set and I actually spent more time placing the stickers than I did building the set (the Xtreme boat has 14 stickers alone!!).
There are some nice colour schemes here, and it's priced reasonably well. The build of both boats is straightforward, and this set would make a nice introduciton to the World Racers theme. I'm still scratching my head about the "fish missile" though - this doesn't quite make sense to me.
I would recommend this set UNLESS you hate trying to place stickers on straight - no joke - it drove me nuts! "

" The build of this set is relatively straightforward and simple, and best of all, the stickers have a colored rather than clear background, unlike the other HP sets which makes the overall appearance much better as you can't see any air bubbles/voids underneath.
You get five characters with this set, including the first Luna Lovegood. From memory, they all have double sided faces to add to the playability of this set.
The Ford Anglia has been designed very well - it fits both Harry and Ron - but only just. This is actually a good thing because they sit on tiles, not studs which means that they would otherwise move around if there was too much room in the car. There's also a boot that opens which is a nice aspect but my main problem is the size of the wheels. In comparison to the rest of the car, they're ridiculously small. So small in fact, it makes the car look a bit comical, which is a real shame because the rest of the car is actually very nice. Somehow, it don't think it would have been too hard to provide us with larger wheels - perhaps next time? This car actually goes very well with the Burrow if you have it, since it's the Weasley's car. In addition, Ron also goes very well with the Burrow, since he's wearing casual dress (hint : if you have this set, get the Burrow!!).
The Locomotive is nothing really special, although I do like the hidden slot which holds what is suppose to be burning coal. The round piece at the front that says Hogwarts Express is printed, not a sticker (yay!) but it isn't fixed - it's attached by a round technic piece and so, it tends to rotate too much which is a real pain.
The middle section is the baggage compartment, which fits all the bags and trunk nicely, if only just.
The last section, the carriage, contains 4 seats - this is a shame as there's space at the front and rear of the carriage that is not utilised. You could fit a further 2 seats in there easily. However, having the extra space is handy for placing the food trolley, which doesn't seem to be able to go anywhere else.
One problem I do have with this set is that I don't know where to put a lot of the extra features. I mean, you get 3 owls, 2 keys, a rat - but where do you put them? And that's before having to find a place for the invisibility cloak as well!!
Overall, a very good set - not difficult at all to build, but fun nonetheless. A few design flaws, but ones that you could live with. "
