" I ummed and ahhhed for a few days about whether to get this set - in the end, I did so because it was selling like hot cakes and I managed to get the last one on the shelf! Now that I have it, I'm not sure if it was a wise decision - the overall sub is ok, but it does have a few design flaws.
Firstly, the seabed rover is a little too long for the compartment that it goes into at the bottom of the sub so part of it sticks out towards the front. You need to place it into the complartment back first as well - if it goes in head on, the rear wheels stick out and interfere with the rotation of the propellors.
Secondly, the compartment below the cockpit isn't completely sealed, so it's not airtight. The lego piece with the sticker on it (the one with 8-075) isn't long enough so if you place a minifig in this compartment, you can see his legs and lower torso.
Thirdly, the mini scout sub that attaches onto the back is only attached by 1 round technic brick and so it tends to rotate a bit too much.
Fourthly, there is no storage compartment to keep the flippers when the minifigs are in the sub. There's enough space in the cockpit, but you can't fastem them down so they tend to go everywhere!
Lastly - the stickers are again a nightmare. I messed up one of them again, and am contemplating just removing it completely.
The final product is a bit disappointing - it's also smaller than what you would imagine. Overall, it's ok, but wouldn't be the first item on my lego shopping list.... "

" I got this set over 2yrs ago and so I've had some time to build all 3 designs and tinker with it.
Probably the best build of the 3 would be the beach house - this is the design that utilises most of the bricks in this set and it can be incorporated into your lego city as a regular house if you wish. The external details are great - the BBQ, the outdoor furniture, even the letter box really add to this set. This is however, let down slightly by the lack of detail on the interior. Apart from the fireplace, the inside is just empty space so you need to customise this area of the set yourself. The other minor issue I have is that there is no door that leads onto the balcony upstairs - it's just an empty doorway. Having said that, there's plenty of space inside the house for you to add whatever you like - a bed, tables, lounge suites etc. provided of course that you have some extra loose bricks from other sets.
The other two designs aren't as impressive externally, but they make up for it in the details on the inside. The cafe in particular is quite impressive with a rotisserie for the chicken and a coffee machine. Note though that although this looks like a two story building externally, it's not. There's no second floor - it's just an elevated ceiling instead.
The apartment block design uses the least amount of bricks and internally, is very small. There's a fair amount of internal details - such as a lounge chair and a study desk as well as the letter box mounted into the wall on the ground floor, but it's hard to imagine any lego minifig living here due to the size of it. It's also probably the simplest of the three to build.
One last issue that I have is that there are way too many 1x1 tiles used in this set, and it's not hard to lose a couple here and there. Also, they can be really hard to get off the green base plate. But overall, this is a great set, great adaptability and great fun. I'd recommend you get this if you have the chance..... "

" If you have any doubts about whether or not to buy this set then put them aside. This set is fantastic!! It's perhaps a little smaller than some of the creator homes that Lego have released, but the final product once built more than makes up for it.
It's appearance externally is hard to fault - it just looks superb. Everything from the mounted letter box, the lawnmower and even the basketball hoop makes us feel that this is a real home. Not one detail has been overlooked. Even the stones in the lawn that lead up to the front door are there!!
The build is overal quite simple - similar to other creator house sets. The color scheme works very well here as well. Like most sets however, there are a couple of things about this set that could have been improved.
Firstly, on the inside, there is no internal wall to seperate the house from the garage. So basically, your living room and garage are effectively one. Not too convincing there. Secondly, the space upstairs may look deceptively large from the outside, but inside, it's quite cramped - there's not much room up there. Thirdly, I don't really like the use of a ladder instead of stairs to join the ground floor to the top. Ladders are for use in barns, not in homes. Having said that, the design of the ladder gets the thunbs up!
Finally, the back wall of the house (which you can't see) is very plain - it's just a wall and so the house doesn't look very good when viewed from behind. It would have been nice if the designers had put a window or two in place here just to improve the appearance but I'm being a little fussy here.
Overall, this is a great set and goes very nicely with the new City Car (the one that looks like the SMART car). I haven't built the other two designs yet, but it will only be a matter of time. If you see this on a shelf somewhere, grab it - you won't regret this buy! "

" This was the first power miners set that I bought, mainly because it was 50% off. It's a nice set although very pricey for what you get.
A lot of thought has been put into it's design - the orange claw section at the front rotates when the sweeper moves forward - but you have to be careful because there is a moveable gray plate under this which can actually interefere with the rotation of the claw if not positioned correctly.
My main issue with the set is actually with the control room/cockpit. On initial appearance, it looks quite large - 8 studs wide and therefore large enough to accomodate both minifigs (Brains and engineer). But the build of it is such that it uses a lot of bricks 2 studs wide on the insde so that actually, it's only 4 studs wide and has room for only 1 minifig.
You also get a dirt bike with this set which fits nicely into a clip at the back, and the drill mechanism, although simple seems to work quite well.
The build is a little tricky for younger builders, but nothing too difficult. You get a fair number of stickers as well, which is a bit of a nuisance, but otherwise, it's quite a good set - if you manage to get it on sale.
For the full price however, I'd probably recommend that you get something else..... perhaps the thunder driller and the rock wrecker????? "

" This is a very good set if you're looking to add to both your pirate numbers as well as build your soldier army since it comes with 1 of each minifig. It is however a set that you would only buy if you're a fan of the pirates theme and have collected other sets. It definitely can stand on it's own as a set since you can stage a mini battle, but let's face it, it's a small set and it would only be a matter of time before you got bored with it.
One thing I don't really like is the fact that it only comes with one musket - so when the soldier fires the cannon and misses the pirate, how's he supposed to defend himself? Another musket or at least a pistol would have been nice. The wall is well designed so that it comes apart easily when hit with the cannon (which obviously fires).
Overall, a nice little set, good playability for smaller children, not ideal for collectors unless as an addition to larger sets. "

" This is an unusual set - I mean, I've never seen a helicopter transported on a trailer like this before, and it's not something that you'd be likely to find in most cities of the world today.....
Having said that, onto the set - firstly, the truck.
The truck is great. It is very well designed, so that even the hood/bonnet of the truck lifts up to reveal what is meant to be the engine underneath. I love the likeness of the truck to real trucks as well, it's very believable and very enjoyable to build. The motorcylce (MC) that comes with it is your standard lego city motocycle - nothing special here.
The helicopter is a neat little thing, but there are two problems with it - firstly, the cockpit tends to detach too easily - the hinge system for it doesn't work all that well. Secondly, the white round piece that sits on top of the rotors fall off way too often. It's not very stable although I'm not sure how this could have been improved.
The final section, the trailer is a bit of a disappointment. There's not much here - it's pretty bare and what you see is what you get. This is perhaps the weakest aspect of the set and the design seems to have been more of an afterthought.
Overall, it's ok, but I'm not really sure how this is going to fit in to my lego city and for the price, there are a few other sets that you may want to consider getting first, and that may be better value for money. "

" Firstly, the color combination for this set is much nicer than the old black and blue of previous years - the new colors make this fighter looker much more realistic.
The build is actually very similar to the old tie fighters - certainly the mechanism for attaching the wings are the same but the actual body of this fighter is bulkier and therefore more stable. The cockpit is a little small for darth vader, as you can't really put him in without squashing the cape. Also there's a small clip just behind cockpit where you can attach the lightsaber. It's a nice little addition to this set cause in a lot of earlier Jedi/tie fighter sets, you never knew what to do with the lightsaber as there was no place to put it.
There's not really much more to be said - what you see is pretty much what you get. A very good addition to your star wars collection, and a reasonable price too. "

" This is one of those sets that can't really stand on it's own - you need additional city or police sets to really make it work and maximise it's play potential. If you don't have a small town or other police sets, you will get sick of this set rather quickly.
This police mc is similar to other mc's in the lego city world with the adiditon of a couple of stickers. It's a handy police force builder and comes with nice details such as a stand for when the mc is parked and the antenna at the back. But this set has to be a selective buy. I repeat it is not a good set on it's own and you need other city sets to fully appreciate the value of it. "

The rugged Thunder Driller is the most important vehicle on the Power Miners team. With its massive double-geared, auto-rotating planetary drill, it tunnels through solid stone to reach deep underground caverns and hidden rock monster hives. As long as its magma-core engine is fueled up and its huge spiked wheels keep turning, the Thunder Driller's powerful dual-direction drill never stops spinning! " I'm not a Power Miners fan but saw this half price and couldn't resist..... Firstly, I'd like to say that the way the drill is put together and works is just superb - the designers have put a lot of thought into this such that when the vehicle moves forward, the tip of the drill rotates clockwise and the inner section of the drill rotates the anticlockwise. Ingenius and very realistic as this is how many drills work in real life!
Behind the drill is a large empty enclosed space - I think is is supposed to be the engine room but it's also a great place for storing any extra pieces or holding Firox (the rock monster) prisioner. The roof here comes off quite easily. The control station towards the rear of the vehicle is quite basic - 2 levers and a monitor but I love the use of ladders here to make up a type of roof/grill in case any loose "rocks" happen to fall.
You get two minifigs excluding Firox - Doc and Duke which is great, especially as Doc doesn't appear in that many PM sets (unless you're prepared to spend big on the large PM sets!). It's pretty good value for money too, even at full price, as you don't needs other PM sets to complement this in order to get hours of creative fun out of it.
My only complaint - again, it's got to be those stickers... and there's quite a few of them...... "

" Like most of the Star Wars battlepacks that lego has come up with. this one also will not disappoint. It complements the snow troopers battle pack very well, although I' m not sure where the design of the combat speeder came from. It turns out to be quite a bulky speeder, but very sturdy and easy to build and the flick firing missle system works surprisingly well here. Hard to imagine that it would be very manouverable though...... espcially compared to the snowtroopers speeder bike...
Some of you may like the addition of Zev Senesca in this set. I personally don't and if you're looking to build an army, you won't either. I mean, you only need one of him, so if you buy 3 sets, you get 3 him which is 2 too many and therefore a bit pointless. Also, he's a little out of place here, as there's no snowspeeder in this set for him to actually pilot. I would prefer it if they replaced him with another rebel trooper and released a seperate snowspeeder set with Zev as the pilot....
Last thing I've got to mention is the price.... again, I don't know why the prices of these sets have gone up, especially as the sets are the same size and brick count as in previous years.... if you can. I recommend that you wait for this to go on sale.... either way, it's a reasonably good buy for any star wars fan. "
